Top coffees spots with a view in St Ives, Cornwall

Sitting with a hot cup of coffee, taking in the sea views and listening to the sounds of St Ives around you is a hard thing to top (well we find that anyway!). If you’re finding it tough to draw yourself away from your self-catering accommodation with your own sea views, hopefully these café suggestions will help you find the next best spots to sit and watch the coastal world go by.

Hub St Ives

The Hub is sat on the edge of the harbour, just seconds from sea, sand and the lifeboat station! With two floors and some outdoor space you have a choice of many seats to sit and enjoy your Origin coffee, made by a trained barista, whilst taking in the view of the harbour front. If you’re feeling like a treat, we would definitely recommend trying one of their cinnamon swirls! If you’re stopping off for a coffee halfway round your dog walk, dogs are welcome on the terrace and bar area at the front of the Hub.

Balcony Bar & Kitchen

Another great spot on the harbour front, The Balcony have optimised the use of their location with their large glass windows, providing a panoramic view of the harbour for all their visitors. The Balcony uses Foundation Coffee Roasters, an independent coffee roaster located here in St Ives. Priding themselves on their ethical ethos, from beans to packaging, you’re sure to enjoy one of their coffees whilst lapping up the views from the Balcony.

Porthminster Kitchen

If you continue strolling along the harbour front, you’ll come across Porthminster Kitchen. Head up the short flight of stairs and you’ll be spoilt with yet another fantastic view of the St Ives bay. They’re open for coffee and cake from 11am 7 days a week. It is the perfect location for a Sunday morning stop off, to sit on the terrace, relax and enjoy your fresh cup of coffee. Dogs are allowed on the terrace too!

Porthgwidden Beach Cafe

Nestled just around the corner from The Island, Porthgwidden Beach Café has the golden spot, overlooking Porthgwidden Beach. Being just a few steps from the beach itself, you can imagine how good the views from the restaurant are. Coffee and snacks are served throughout the day and with their new covered terrace area, you can get even closer to the sea, whatever the weather (plus your dog is welcome there too!)

Porthmeor Beach Café

Porthmeor Beach is favourite location for many visitors, locals, surfers and seals. It only takes a few seconds to see why! With views from inside the café, its heated terrace and the popular outdoor booths (with heaters and blankets!) Porthmeor café is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a coffee with uninterrupted sea views. We were being serious about the seals too, if you’re lucky you’ll definitely see a few heads poking up. There is a designated, covered and heated area for dog and coffee lovers too!

Caffe Pasta

Nothing will make you question whether you’re in Cornwall or in a quaint Italian village, more than when you’re sat outside of Caffe Pasta. Located on the cobbled wharf road, it is the perfect sun trap on a warm day and an even better place to sit and watch the world go by – with much more than a  glimpse of the sea too. Here too, as long as you tuck their tails in from passing cars or foot fall, your dog is welcome to sun worship with you too whilst enjoying your coffee!
