Falmouth Christmas Lights Switch-On – Thursday 27 November 2025

Falmouth’s Christmas lights switch-on promises a brilliant festive atmosphere. The main switch-on is at 7pm on The Moor, with entertainment running throughout the early evening. Cornwall Dance School performs at 5pm on Events Square, followed by the much-loved festive tractor parade featuring fourteen decorated tractors travelling through town. As the parade approaches The Moor, Choirs, local school children and Falmouth Marine Band keep the crowds entertained ready for the big switch-on moment, followed by a special performance from The Oggymen.

Falmouth is also hosting its first ever Christmas drone light show on Friday 5 December at 5.30pm. The free ten-minute display will take place at Church Street car park and is timed to coincide with late-night shopping, offering a modern twist to the town’s festive celebrations.

Newquay Christmas Lights Switch-On and Fireworks – Friday 28 November 2025

Newquay’s Christmas celebrations centre around The Killacourt, where a lively afternoon programme starts at 3pm. Markets, live music and family entertainment keep the atmosphere upbeat and festive as the light switch-on approaches. Carol singing, including performances by Oll an Gwella, take place on the clifftop lawns. At 6.45pm, the Christmas lights are switched on, followed by a fireworks display over the bay.

St Ives Christmas Light Switch-On – Friday 5 December 2025

St Ives knows how to build excitement, and the town’s tradition of Santa arriving by lifeboat remains one of Cornwall’s most enchanting Christmas spectacles. At 5.30pm, Father Christmas is brought into the harbour aboard the town’s RNLI lifeboat, greeted by cheering crowds and plenty of photo opportunities.
Once safely ashore, Santa joins a short procession, travelling by sleigh to Royal Square (we hope someone’s told him about the new road layout!). Storm Troopers form a guard of honour, bringing a fun and slightly surreal touch to the proceedings. Between 6pm and 7pm, the lights are officially switched on outside Café Art, accompanied by music from St Ives Concert Band. The combination of festive tunes, harbour lights and the smell of sea air captures the magic of Christmas on the Cornish coast.

Stick around for a festive Super Santa Saturday, featuring street performers, Christmas markets, and a Santa’s grotto at the library.

Porthleven Christmas Lights Switch-On – Friday 5 December 2025

Running alongside the Porthleven Christmas Market at The Shipyard, the town’s lights switch-on forms part of a whole weekend of festive celebrations, from 5th to 7th December. The main switch-on takes place at 7pm on the Friday, creating a lively atmosphere filled with stalls, food producers and gifts from talented local makers.

Angarrack Christmas Lights – Saturday 6 December 2025, 5.30pm

Just a short drive from St Ives, Angarrack is famed for its impressive Twelve Days of Christmas display. The installations are scattered around the village, with some located under the viaduct and along Riverside where, if you are lucky, you might encounter a singing reindeer!
The displays grow larger as you work your way towards the twelfth day, creating a fun challenge for families aiming to spot them all. Because the village becomes extremely busy, organisers strongly recommend parking outside and following the circular walking route to take in the full experience at a relaxed pace.

Mousehole Harbour Lights – Thursday 11 December 2025, 5pm

One of the most iconic festive sights in Cornwall, the Mousehole Harbour Lights create a magical scene that draws visitors year after year.
Expect to see familiar favourites such as the whale, the ‘Loch Ness Monster’ floating in the harbour, the famous Mousehole Cat and illuminated scenes high on the surrounding hillsides.
Every year on 19th December, the Mousehole lights are turned off at 8pm for an hour in remembrance of the crew lost in the Penlee Lifeboat Disaster (1981).
With limited parking and narrow streets, visitors are advised to arrive early or use public transport where possible.
