Halloween Half Term at Pendennis Castle

Pendennis Castle in Falmouth makes for an excellent day out for the family. There is a whole range of activities to enjoy and castles to be explored.

When visiting, you have the chance to experience what it may have been like during the Second World War with their recreated Battery Observation Post bunker. Or, take a leap back further in time and discover all you can about the castle’s development in weaponry and defence, you might even be able to catch one of their Knight tournament displays. Their Halloween activity for this half term is the chance to join Dennis the Menace and Gnasher on a ghoulish hunt around the castle and then meet costume performers and hear some spooky stories.

Pumpkin Picking at Trevaskis Farm

Pumpkin Picking at Trevaskis Farm is always one of our favourite activities to do in the October Half-Term.

Throughout the autumn, Trevaskis Farm prepares its Pumpkin patch for an action-packed half-term week. The farm is open for you all day to walk around and take a look at their four-legged friends including sheep, pigs, and horses. You may even spot a donkey or two! After you’ve had a leisurely stroll around the farm, you can take to the pumpkin patch and pick your own perfect pumpkin for Halloween carving or maybe make something tasty at your self-catering holiday cottage. Whilst at Trevaskis Farm, we’d recommend making a day of it and booking a table at their farm side restaurant too!

Rogue Theatre at Tehidy Woods

Every Halloween, Tehidy woods are transformed into a magical and mystical setting to host one of Rogue Theatre’s spectacular shows.

They offer day and evening shows throughout the autumn and it makes for an excellent family-friendly activity and very child friendly. To start the adventure, you make your way to Tehidy Woods North Cliff entrance and there you are met by one of the Rogue Theatre Faeries. You then embark on an interactive walk through the woods until you get to the outdoor stage (which is covered by a canopy!). Here you’ll find warm stew served from a cauldron and their bar in the woods serving an array of drinks and snacks. Then is it time to settle in and enjoy the production!

For the children, you’ll start an afternoon of fun from 2 pm and this will include finding all sorts and tricks and treats around the scream zone. There’ll be all sorts of activities, games and the best dress competition, so be sure to pull out all the spooky stops! The adult screamfest will commence at 7 pm and this is where things will get even spookier. There’ll be a ghoulish themed fancy dress party and an assortment of drinks and refreshments. It is time to get your scare on!

The Witches Afternoon Tea at The Headland

The Headland hotel is located on the wild and wonderful cliff top that overlooks Newquay’s Fistral beach.

This iconic spot was also the filming location of the 1990 adaptation of Roahl Dahls infamous tale ‘The Witches’. So, there are few places better for a spookier spot of afternoon tea! Throughout October, you’re invited by the Grand High Witch to enjoy a devilishly delightful afternoon tea. You will be able to enjoy the magnificent setting of the hotel with rolling views of the sea and beyond, whilst tucking into some halloween themed treats.

If you’re looking for something extra special, the Grand High Witch herself will be visiting on the 1st and 2nd, 8th & 9th, and from 15th-30th October!
