Sam Sheppard - Director
Sam’s role at Orange Roofs is mainly revenue management, online marketing, channel management and welcoming new owners to Orange Roofs’ portfolio. She oversees the smooth running of the onboarding process when a new property joins our small family of luxury holiday homes and, with the incredible support of Billie, Charlie and Torrie ensures the smooth service of full property management and superb guest experience. Apart from keeping current and aware of Orange Roofs’ position as a St Ives holiday let agency, she remains creative to ensure the business continues to develop and deliver what guests and owners need from their chosen holiday let agency. Sam project manages interior projects and renovation work for owners where they feel a bit blinded by the task or simply have a shortage of time and too great a distance from their homes.
In her spare time you will either find Sam out walking with her dogs on Cornwall’s beautiful beaches or striding over local hills and moors taking in the spectacular sea views and fresh air. Using the fabulous App iWalkCornwall, Sam and her husband (Ross) often explore new routes and areas to walk in Cornwall with the dogs loving new and exciting smells. Being a keen horse rider and owner, Sam finds peace and serenity in the saddle or simply sharing time with her horse ‘Big Boy’ in the field. When the weather is warmer, Sam loves sea swimming but is strictly a fair weather swimmer!
Ross Sheppard - Director
Ross has the gigantic task of managing the financial side to owner accounts as well as overseeing the business overall. Through his working life, Ross has been involved with pretty much all aspects of operating a holiday letting business, so he can jump in to help with pretty much any situation that arises. His customer skills are second to none and inspire us all within the team. He is also our photographer as well as (with any small business) getting involved with creative projects and overseeing developments such as our Orange Roofs App.
Ross loves being outdoors as well as being a lover of great coffee, food and art, so weekend time off normally means a long dog walk followed by a pit stop to enjoy delicious local food, coffee and galleries. Ross loves nothing more than to spend time maintaining his 4 acre meadow and small lake and cares passionately about the local wildlife and biodiversity. Ross loves sea swimming, SUP boarding and kayaking when the sun is warm and the sea is still.
Billie Goulden - Sales & Marketing Administrator
Billie is a bubbly and incredibly engaging and friendly person who is born and bred St Ives! She has been with Orange Roofs since January 2019 and is the whizz behind our Instagram and Facebook pages as well as writing engaging and super helpful blogs. She is simply magnificent with our guests going that extra mile along with Torrie to ensure from the point of finding Orange Roofs’ website to when guests arrive for their holiday in one of Orange Roofs’ holiday cottages in Cornwall, it’s a most wonderful experience. Billie gets involved with the acquisition of new properties to our portfolio as well as managing the existing properties to maintain the high Orange Roofs standards that all our guests have now come to love and expect. Billie is also the ‘creative manager’ behind our photos helping Ross set up the homes to look inviting, enticing and extremely bookable! Billie will be getting creative in 2022 by sharing more local (insider) knowledge of Cornwall and sharing detailed walk arounds of our gorgeous holiday homes… so watch this space!
When out of the office, Billie loves all things outdoors. Whether it’s sea swims, horse riding or exploring the coast by foot, in her spare time, you’ll be sure to find her somewhere by the beach! Another one of her favourite things to do is visit Cornwall’s best kept secrets when it comes to food and drink. From hidden huts to converted horse boxes, she loves to try them all!
Torrie James - Guest Experience Co-ordinator
Torrie joined Orange Roofs in December 2021 and has settled into the Orange Roofs ethos naturally. Torrie’s character fits her role so perfectly as she is incredibly friendly, an attentive listener and goes the extra mile to help make someone’s day so much better. She is responsible for ensuring a most positive and memorable guest experience from the moment they find Orange Roofs online to when they arrive at their self-catering accommodation. The attention to detail Torrie fosters means an Orange Roofs guest will feel supported and informed throughout their customer journey from choosing the right self catering cottage online to booking surf lessons, restaurants and day excursions. Being local, Torrie is able to share her knowledge of the area and is keen in suggesting the best places to visit and things to do while in Cornwall so guests can have the freedom to relax and create wonderful holiday memories in the comfort of their holiday home.
In her spare time Torrie enjoys spending time with her horse Cracker and taking part in all things equestrian, visiting the many fantastic local cafes and restaurants with friends (finding all the best spots!) or relaxing at home with a coffee and a true crime documentary. Torrie is also busy with projects including an eco-friendly equestrian clothing brand, social media blogging and linked to these is currently planning a series of beach cleans.
Charlie Cannon - Properties and Maintenance Coordinator
Charlie is also St Ives born and bred and, whilst still living in St Ives, loves being outdoors soaking up the views. He joined Orange Roofs in July 2020 and has settled exceptionally well into the team (it feels like we’ve all been together since the inception of Orange Roofs in 2015). Charlie is very hands on with ensuring that all properties have legal health and safety compliancy as well as maintained to the high Orange Roofs’ standard. He maintains frequent changes to the key safe codes as well as ensures that all property information is relayed to guests as accurately as possible after they have booked and when they come to stay. Charlie also loves chatting to guests and owners and has a chivalrous way about him inspiring confidence and trust.
Charlie is someone who thrives on a consistent ‘work hard’ routine so he can make the most of his down time! He enjoys going to the gym, cooking and sport (football, rugby, and boxing). You will often find Charlie catching up on his beloved team Chelsea in his lunch break and after work. Also in his spare time, he has a passion for charity and fundraising for projects that he cares about.
Sheppy and Hops are invaluable members of our Orange Roofs Team!
Shep is a blue merle border collie, Cornish born and bred, and can be quite opinionated but is a real softy. Hops is a Romanian rescue dog who had a tough start to her little life and prefers to mind her own business under a desk (or better still be left at home for a duvet day!). After work, they both live the dream by having incredible dog-friendly beaches right on their doorstep as well as iconic places to visit, on or off the lead!
