Sam Sheppard - Director
Sam’s role at Orange Roofs is mainly revenue management, online marketing, channel management and welcoming new owners to Orange Roofs’ portfolio. She oversees the smooth running of the onboarding process when a new property joins our small family of luxury holiday homes and, with the incredible support of Billie and Torrie, ensures the smooth service of full property management and superb guest experience. Apart from keeping current and aware of Orange Roofs’ position as a St Ives holiday let agency, she remains creative to ensure the business continues to develop and deliver what guests and owners need from their chosen holiday let agency. Sam project manages interior projects and renovation work for owners where they feel a bit blinded by the task or simply have a shortage of time and too great a distance from their homes.
In her spare time you will either find Sam out walking with her dogs on Cornwall’s beautiful beaches or striding over local hills, riding her Peloton, swimming or gently hacking her horse.
Ross Sheppard - Director
Ross has the gigantic task of managing the financial side to owner accounts as well as overseeing the business overall. Through his working life, Ross has been involved with pretty much all aspects of operating a holiday letting business, so he can jump in to help with pretty much any situation that arises. His customer skills are second to none and inspire us all within the team. He is also our photographer as well as (with any small business) getting involved with creative projects and overseeing developments such as our Orange Roofs App.
Ross loves being outdoors as well as being a lover of great coffee, food and art, so weekend time off normally means a dog walk followed by a pit stop to enjoy delicious local food, coffee and galleries. Ross rows for Mounts Bay Pilot Gig Club and so, most of the summer is spent at regattas competing or he’s training of some sorts!
Billie Goulden - Operations Leader
Billie is a bubbly and incredibly engaging and friendly person who is born and bred St Ives! She has been with Orange Roofs since January 2019 and is the whizz behind our Instagram and Facebook pages as well as helping Sam in producing super helpful blogs. She is simply magnificent with our guests going that extra mile along with Torrie to ensure from the point of finding Orange Roofs’ website to when guests arrive for their holiday in one of Orange Roofs’ holiday cottages in Cornwall, it’s a most wonderful experience. Billie gets involved with the acquisition of new properties to our portfolio as well as managing the existing properties to maintain the high Orange Roofs standards that all our guests have now come to love and expect. Billie is also the ‘creative manager’ behind our photos helping Ross set up the homes to look inviting, enticing and extremely bookable!
When out of the office, Billie loves all things outdoors. Whether it’s sea swims, horse riding or exploring the coast by foot, in her spare time, you’ll be sure to find her somewhere by the beach! Another one of her favourite things to do is visit Cornwall’s best kept secrets when it comes to food and drink. From hidden huts to converted horse boxes, she loves to try them all!
Torrie James - Guest Experience Leader
Torrie joined Orange Roofs in December 2021 and has settled into the Orange Roofs ethos naturally. Torrie’s character fits her role so perfectly as she is incredibly friendly, an attentive listener and goes the extra mile to help make someone’s day so much better. She is responsible for ensuring a most positive and memorable guest experience from the moment they find Orange Roofs online to when they arrive at their self-catering accommodation. The attention to detail Torrie fosters means an Orange Roofs guest will feel supported and informed throughout their customer journey from choosing the right self catering cottage online to booking surf lessons, restaurants and day excursions. Being local, Torrie is able to share her knowledge of the area and is keen in suggesting the best places to visit and things to do while in Cornwall so guests can have the freedom to relax and create wonderful holiday memories in the comfort of their holiday home.
In her spare time Torrie enjoys spending time with her horses Cracker and Tommy and taking part in all things equestrian, visiting the many fantastic local cafes and restaurants with friends (finding all the best spots!) or relaxing at home with a coffee and a true crime documentary. Torrie is also busy with projects including an eco-friendly equestrian clothing brand, social media blogging and linked to these is currently planning a series of beach cleans.
Darcie Couch - Operations Assistant
Darcie has been an integral part of the Orange Roofs’ team since Autumn 2023 and has slotted in brilliantly. With strong and established experience in hospitality, Darcie really does go that extra mile to make sure guests’ stays are as perfect as they can be. As part of the Operations Team, Darcie works part-time over the busy weekends, Mondays and Tuesdays. Her role is to support Billie and Torrie in running a very well-oiled operation, delivering exceptional service to our owners and guests. Her eye for detail and tenacity means that everything is working as it should be before a guest arrives to their St Ives holiday cottage. If it can’t be fixed on the arrival day, Darcie organises the correct trade person to get it fixed as soon as possible. You may see Darcie whizzing around St Ives on changeover days between properties whilst doing her fundamental and very important checks.
What is super important to Darcie is her children. They are two very beautiful young children who keep her busy and fulfilled! They spend their free time together on the beach, play grounds, visiting family and generally being a tight and loving family altogether.
