About Painter's Cottage

This beautiful self-catering holiday cottage in St Ives is called Painter's Cottage and it is a perfect, cosy bolthole in the centre of St Ives just moments from the cobbled lane called Fore Street lined with shops, galleries, a wonderful deli and restaurants. With two bedrooms, two shower rooms and your very own wood burner, Painter's Cottage makes for a perfect Cornish getaway for a family of four (more suited to older children) or a romantic getaway for two.

You enter Painter's Cottage from Wills Lane and you walk directly into the open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen. This thoughtfully decorated and furnished house has local pieces of artwork and pottery as well as luxury soft furnishings. It has been styled with shades of colour to match the sea that you will find only a matter of minutes from your front door. One of our favourite qualities of this cottage is the AGA wood burner which is the perfect centrepiece for the living room and is a much-loved asset in the winter months. The living room is kitted out for a wonderfully relaxing getaway, you can enjoy the free WiFi as well as an assortment of carefully selected books and DVDs for you to get lost in! Hoping to keep up with your favourite box set over the week? Fear not, Painter's Cottage has a Smart TV so you can keep up with all your binge-watching programs too!

The kitchen and dining areas offer space to cook a small meal and comfortably seat four. Located in such an ideal position in St Ives you are no more than a 5-minute stroll to some of the freshest Cornish produce in town. You'll find a wonderful deli on Fore Street and you can stock up on a whole range of Cornish goodies to take back to Painter's Cottage, fresh eggs, Cornish cheese and locally baked bread! No ingredient will go to waste in Painter's Cottage as the kitchen is fully kitted out with all the utensils you need for your self-catering holidays in St Ives and, to make life just that little bit easier, there's a built-in slimline dishwasher! You have other key integrated appliances such as an oven, hob and fridge. To help maximise the space in the kitchen, the washing machine and freezer are in a purpose-built cupboard in the small rear outside space (where there is enough room to hang a few wetsuits after rinsing them down using the outside tap).

Downstairs there is a conveniently located shower room and toilet, which is one of your two shower rooms. Then up a flight of stairs (fairly steep so not suitable for the infirm or unsteady toddlers!), you have two bedrooms. The double bedroom has a compact en-suite shower room as well as a comfortable double bed. The second bedroom can either be a king-size bed in width (it is 6'3" long) or two 2ft 6" wide single beds. Both bedrooms have Smart TVs and cupboard hanging space and in the king-size room, you also have a dressing table with a mirror. No expense has been spared on providing guests with super comfortable bedding and soft cotton sheets and towels. You will find it difficult to roll out of bed some days, but with the beach calling from just a few minutes away, you'll be out the door dreckly!

Whilst staying at Painter's Cottage you are not far from any of the beaches in St Ives but your closest is the beautiful, Blue Flag awarded Porthminster Beach. Host to the St Ives Food Festival every year, this beach is not short of white sand or sparklingly clear waters. If you have forgotten to pack your picnic for the day there are two takeaways at Porthminster as well as a shop providing all your beach essentials and public toilets.

If you're looking for a delicious bite to eat close by, we would recommend heading to Beer and Bird for a unique meal out, sure to leave you smiling. You can't book there but take the quick walk along Fore Street to find this much loved St Ives' restaurant serving cocktails, craft beers, vegan and vegetarian food, and best of all...a chilled-out St Ives atmosphere. Not only are you fortunately located near all the best eateries and beaches, but the Barbara Hepworth Museum is also no more than a minute's walk away and is a popular destination when visiting St Ives.

Painter's Cottage does not come with allocated parking, however, you are just a five-minute walk from the Train Station car park or Trenwith car park, a ten-minute walk from the cottage.

Painters Cottage will make you feel cherished and very welcome. It will also allow you to reach every corner of St Ives town easily while passing extraordinarily beautiful seascapes along the way.

Please note, due to its location and surrounded by granite walls, Painters Cottage has little to no mobile phone reception. However, if you have wifi calls enabled on your phone, you will be able to use your phone in the cottage once connected to the internet.

To re-cap, this boutique holiday cottage in St Ives is located in the heart of the town and is within moments of St Ives harbour, shops, restaurants, bars, and galleries. It has two bedrooms, two shower rooms and a delightful wood burner. Ideal for couples and small families. Please note that the stairs to the first floor are steep and so not suitable for those with difficulty climbing stairs or young children. The freezer and washing machine is housed in a utility shed just outside the back door. Please refer to the floor plan to fully appreciate this cosy little cottage in the heart of St Ives.

Great little cottage - right in the centre - no steep hill to get to this one! Well equipped and maintained and lovely welcome pack. Orange roofs are very organised and good communicators - no problems at all - would definitely stay again.

This is a lovely little cottage just off Fore Street in the heart of St Ives. The place was very clean and very well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything worked as it should. We loved our stay as it was so central to everything.
As there is no parking with the property this is the main issue you need to consider when booking as the station car park is always busy and all others are up hill.

Fabulous little cottage, perfectly placed in the centre of St Ives. The Orange Roofs team were super helpful and had even provided provisions, as well as tea and coffee for when we arrived, which was a lovely surprise. Couldn't have been better!

We stayed for a week in late April. Arrived by train, pure joy. It took about 10mins to walk to the cottage from the station. The cottage was absolutely perfect. Everything was as described. An amazing welcome pack on arrival greeted us. No detail spared there. The housekeeping team obviously take great care in their presentation of the cottage, it was spotless. The bedding and towels were to die for. Would we stay again? Absolutely. But don't tell everyone. Orange Roofs are on the ball, emails and reminders as necessary and great from initial booking through to checking out. A perfect little gem of a cottage.

Location !!! Such a charming Cottage in the very heart of St Ives ! Immaculately clean and perfect for us and our 5 year old. We just spent two weeks in Painters Cottage and it was wonderful. Only steps from Fore St where all the beautiful shops are and 5 minutes to the beach. Lovely to be able to wander down town for dinner in an any of the restaurants and cafes, without taxis or parking. We lit the stove a couple of times and it was so cosy ! Hopefully we will be back again and again and we will head straight for this little gem. Thank you so much ❤️

Painters Cottage is perfectly located in the centre of St Ives - everything you could possibly want and need is so close by. It was a very quiet location (apart from the sea gulls of course). Everything in the cottage was in good condition and we appreciated the smart TVs and the fact that there was two bathrooms. It was very clean and tidy. One of the things that impressed me most was the excellent communication from the Orange Roofs team before, during and after our stay, first class service that took any potential stress away. We will return to the cottage.

The location was excellent and the lack of parking was not an issue, the ability to park outside to drop off and pick up cases was appreciated. The decor in the cottage was lovely and it was well equipped. The only minus was the lack of any outside space but the location was worth overlooking this. Orange roofs were very professional and Billie was very prompt answering any queries and I would definitely go through them next time.

I spent Christmas week with my husband and 16 year old daughter in Painters Cottage, St Ives, this is a delightful cottage.  It has the benefit of being close to all the beaches and amenities.  The cottage has everything that you could want or need and is very cosy especially with the wood burner lit.  Everything was beautifully clean and well presented, there were welcome gifts, fresh flowers and a Christmas tree, a proper little home from home.  The beds were super comfortable, the showers lovely and spacious, also very powerful.

We cooked a Christmas dinner and had all that we required oven space and equipment that we needed. We spent most of the week walking along the various beaches and enjoying the peace and quiet back in the cottage, I would definitely recommend this cottage for a small family, if you take a car you will need to ensure that you park in one of the car parks which are close by, the railway station car park has an app on which you can book you parking.  We were fortunate to have friends in Carbis Bay who looked after our car for the week.

The Orange Roofs team have been brilliant with all their help and advice throughout the booking process, keeping us updated on the COVID-19 restrictions and lots of ideas of places to go plus useful links.  Thank you for all your help.

We give this property 5 Stars.

We had a wonderful week at Painters Cottage. The cottage is in a brilliant location and only minutes from the beach/shops/restaurants. Cleanliness was an extremely high standard and the cottage has been decorated tastefully. We would stay here again.

Our first time for New Year in St Ives, definitely not the last time. We stayed at Painters cottage which was a 3 minute walk to the Harbour. The description of the property on Orange roofs is exactly as they say. You will not be disappointed if you stayed here, the locality is perfect. Once again, our experience dealing with Orange roofs has been faultless from start of booking until the end of our holiday. We could not recommend them enough and hope to see them picking up travel industry awards in the near future. Thankyou so much for a wonderful time and experience St Ives, see you in May

We loved our stay at Painter's Cottage. Really cute, comfortable and well furnished/decorated. So close to everything too, a huge bonus if you don't want to struggle up the hills to your accommodation. Prior to staying, we received numerous emails with suggestions for things to do, places to eat and information about the cottage. All very much appreciated. Would definitely stay again!!

Centrally located in St. Ives, within short walking distance of all its attractions, Painters Cottage is a lovely apparently recently renovated cottage that made our week-long stay most enjoyable! We highly recommend it to any one coming to this wonderful part of Cornwall.

I had a wonderful week-long stay at Painter's Cottage. Situated on a quiet lane, it is just steps away from the harbour and lively high street. The cottage has been beautifully renovated and furnished, just as the images online show. It is both charming and comfortable. The property is very well managed, with helpful information sent before arrival and excellent service on site. Painter's Cottage and Orange Roofs definitely warrant a 5 star rating!

We had a lovely weeks holiday in painters cottage. The house is so close to everything shops, beaches & restaurants it’s in a brilliant spot. The cottage is very well looked after & clean. Would definitely recommend & we would definitely stay again. Only thing it really misses is a little courtyard to sit in of an evening while our little one was in bed but for a week it is bearable.

Painters cottage is located right in the centre of St Ives. One major problem is the stairs to the first floor which are very steep and lead directly to both bedrooms without a top landing. Care must be taken every time one leaves either bedroom. Aside from this problem, the house is ideal for two couples, or a family group visiting this area of Cornwall. The property is beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished. The two bathrooms are small but fully equipped. The kitchen is also well equipped with oven, hob, small dishwasher, freezer and plenty of pots pans and utensils. The house was spotlessly clean on our arrival. Parking is a problem in St Ives, but we found the car park at the leisure centre very suitable. We were able to register by phone to reserve and pay for parking by phone for the duration of our stay at £8.20 per 24 hrs., which was handy. We tried the JustPark App used by Cornwall Co Council but it was impossible to use. Also all the machines at the above car park were out of order. There is a shuttle bus from the car park to town and for the steep uphill return at £1 pp per journey, for the lazy ones or the infirm. The cottage is very convenient to shops for groceries, wine etc. We found the Coop croissants very welcoming each morning. Also it was a very short journey back to the cottage from any of the Pasty vendors, to consume the delicacy in peace away from the gulls. Did we mention the gulls? They waken about 3am and create a racket from then until midnight. They dive bomb to steal ice cream, pasties or any food in your hand. The Barbara Hepworth museum is virtually next door, and well worth a visit for a bit of culture. The harbour is two minutes away, and all beaches are within easy walk. All in all a lovely little gem, perfectly located, very comfortable, with very steep stairs. We would return tomorrow if we had the chance. Orange Roofs gave us fantastic service, plenty of contact, loads of information on St Ives, the house and facilities, and a prompt phone call alerting us that one of our party (the absent minded prof) had left his keys behind. Thank you to Orange Roofs and To Painters Cottage, from the Gillespie and party

First and foremost the location of the cottage is excellent, just seconds to the shops, restaurants, pubs and sea front. For those that have never been to St Ives it a beautiful place with stunning beaches, clear blue water, wonderful places to eat out and my favourite place in the Uk. Painters Cottage is beautifully decorated, and we wanted for nothing on the equipment level, even Netflix on the TV, and a DVD player, great for a cosy evening in with a takeaway and a bottle of wine. The following is not a criticism, but where we feel an improvement could help, we would have like a door curtain on the front door, and we found the bed to be hard, but then that’s just our preference. Their is no parking space, but we felt the position of the cottage was more important. We used the back bedroom which had a on suite showroom, and TV, ( both bedrooms had a tv). The bedroom was very quite with no noise issues from outside. A welcome gift was much appreciated, it was my birthday, and even received birthday card. The cottage was spotless, and just as the pictures. Orange Roofs have been brilliant, they keep us informed all the way through the booking process, and before we travelled and gave advice on parking, if only all holiday companies could be the same, they should have a award! Five Star !!! Thank you so much to both the owners of Painters Cottage, and Orange roofs, a perfect team together. We hope to be back in the near future, and book though Orange roofs once again.

This cottage is central to everything in St. Ives. Beautifully decorated with local art and well appointed. Everything you need is there. A lovely little fire place with wood provided. Access and communication was excellent. We found the beds to be a little uncomfortable but only because we prefer less firm mattresses. I would highly recommend Painters Cottage and Orange Roofs.

Superbly equipped cottage hidden in the heart of St Ives. Warm and cosy - the wood burner although not necessary gave added comfort to our winter break. Furnishings and bedding very comfortable and to a high standard - loved the fluffy white towels! The cottage had everything you could need - SMART TVs, WI-FI etc. We loved to listen to the church bells and being in the centre of St Ives but you should expect to hear people occasionally passing by etc. Only drawback, and it is a small one, you have to accept that there is nowhere to sit outside, but the seafront is less than 2 mins walk away. A real gem of a cottage.

Painter’s Cottage was perfect - very cosy and in a great location, with probably the easiest access for unloading our stuff upon arrival and getting out again we have experienced in St. Ives. The staff at Orange Roofs were great and all communication and information was first class. Even tho’ the weather was bad, our stay at Painter’s Cottage was lovely. We would highly recommend.

We stayed in Painter's cottage for a long weekend and it was the perfect place to escape our busy lives! It's central location is ideal for exploring beautiful St Ives. The small details that the owners have made in furnishing this cottage are lovely, especially the use of local artist's work. They have clearly taken the time to make this an idyllic space - I couldn't wait to return to it every night after long days out in the sun. The kitchen is fully equipped for eating in, however there were lots of suggestions on where to eat out in the information folder. We had a wonderful welcome pack waiting for us on arrival too; with milk and tea bags for that first well needed cuppa. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we cannot wait to come back here again.

Jul 22 2017

We stayed at Painter's Cottage for a week in July . It's a beautiful little cottage very nicely furnished and it contains everything you could possibly need for your stay . We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean . And there was a lovely welcome pack containing the essentials of tea ,coffee ,milk, cooking oil etc also a lovely bottle of prosecco and some chocolate . And the fresh flowers were a lovely touch . The beds were so comfy . The cottage is located very central for the shops and beach . And is situated in a quiet little street. The only thing I could fault was that the sinks in both bathrooms were very small ,no good for washing your face in or for the men to have a shave in , the water would go everywhere . Also on our journey to St Ives we got a phone call from the housekeeper telling us that some of the tiles by the front door had lifted and that it was making the door a bit difficult to open and shut and told us that a trades man could call the following day to fix this . We really didn't want workmen around us on our holidays and asked if they could leave it until we had finished our holiday to which the housekeeper agreed . The door did become quite a nuisance through out our stay especially as we had get a pushchair in and out the door it became really hard to open and shut . However apart from the problem with the tiles and the door we had a lovely stay and would defiantly return and would also recommend this lovely little cottage to our family and friends .

Would highly recommend. We stayed in Painter's Cottage at the beginning of June and it was a delight. The cottage was immaculate, tastefully decorated using the most beautiful colours and good quality fixtures and fittings. We also particularly like the use of local art. Everywhere was extremely clean with everything anyone could wish for their holidays. The welcome pack was much appreciated as were the lovely fresh flowers, very thoughtful. The sinks were a little small, but having two bathrooms and especially one upstairs was brilliant as often in small cottages the loo is downstairs. It was a pleasure to return to the cottage every evening, we loved it. Its location is amazing, so close to everything. We will definitely wish to return. Our one criticism is the changeover day being Friday as this is also bin collection day and the owner of the garage opposite insisted on parking her car in front of the garage whilst she moved her bins making it a little awkward to pack our car and we felt a nuisance. We had to move twice whilst attempting to vacate making it a little stressful. That said, because of our early start we managed to be away well before 10 o'clock, so may be worth noting for those still to vacate. Orange Roofs were brilliant and very kindly let us know that the cottage was ready for us slightly earlier which saved us the hassle of driving round looking for parking. Thank you for this, it enabled us to make the use of a beautiful afternoon in the sunshine. MANAGEMENT COMMENT: Hello, thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Painter's Cottage. We think it's lovely too :) Regarding the bathrooms, thank you for the feedback about these. We are pleased to be able to report that the owner has now replaced the downstairs shower room in its entirety, and it now boasts a new and larger sink :) Kind regards, The Orange Roofs Team.

A beautiful cottage one minute's walk from the harbour, on a quiet back street. We had a fantastic break and can highly recommend this stylish property. Delightful touches with artwork from the local artists - we bought several pieces to take home. Lovely welcome pack on our arrival. It was great to have 2 bathrooms, and the washer/dryer. We will definitely be booking again.
