About Pendynas

Nestled in the very bosom of Downalong is Pendynas. Its name means Headland Fort and you couldn’t be much closer to the headland between Porthgwidden and Porthmeor beach than at this luxury holiday cottage in St Ives; lovingly restored to promise luxury, comfort and a very warm welcome. Pendynas is on Carncrows Street which means the harbour, all St Ives’ beaches, shops, restaurants, galleries and traditional Cornish pubs are literally a pleasant stroll away. It comes with three bedrooms, four underfloor heated bathrooms, sea views from the Island facing bedrooms and, being a true jewel in this crown, has parking for two cars at the rear of the house. Whether you want to treat a loved one and come away for a romantic St Ives holiday or bring the family and fill the house with merriment creating memories, Pendynas has what it takes to leave you feeling happy, refreshed and wanting more.

Starting from the ground floor up, you enter from the rear terrace into the bespoke shaker kitchen which is well-equipped and open plan leading onto the dining area where there is a large table and comfortable seating. There is access to a shower room on the ground floor between the kitchen and dining area as well as directly off the rear, so if you're covered in sand and need a hot shower to warm up, no need to traipse through the house first! There is also a shower outside to wash the worst of the sand off. From the dining area, you step down into the living room with its comfortable chairs and sofas and large Smart TV for family entertainment.  

Up onto the first floor, there are two bedrooms both ensuite. The first bedroom is a twin bedroom, with the ensuite having a bath with shower over, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. The second bedroom has a king-size bed with an ensuite shower room with WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. The views from this bedroom are over to the Island and sea views beyond that.

The whole of the top floor is designated to another king-size bedroom with ensuite. The feeling of space and light is just dreamy. The views are of the Island and the sea beyond. The ensuite has a large shower with WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. Each of the bedrooms have Smart TVs with built-in DVDs (just in case you need some of your own space for a while!).

There is Fibre Broadband throughout the house so gadgets galore could come on holiday with the teenagers. What is incredible about Pendynas (amongst so many other things) is its proximity to Porthgwidden beach and Porthmeor beach. You could pack a picnic and the wine bottle would still be super chilled by the time you sit on the warm sand. The beach is no more than one minute away and Porthmeor beach is reached via the Island so two minutes away, tops! Equally, if you fancy an early morning dip or surf, Pendynas is a perfect place to stay as all you will need is your wetsuit, cozzy, towel and flip flops. For winter breaks away, when the wind blows and the air is chilled, the cottage promises a warm embrace after a bracing beach walk.

Outside there is a hand-built bench seat and table to take in the start of the day with a morning coffee or toast the evening with something chilled and delicious. The space just outside the shower room is ideal for bodyboards or a surfboard if you are coming on holiday fully-armed to play in the surf plus a place to hang rinsed wetsuits.

It can't be denied that the owners have intended to offer a beautiful holiday home for you to stay; one to unwind and relax in, feel the quality all around and go home feeling whole again.

To re-cap, Pendynas is a luxury holiday cottage in St Ives in the sought-after Downalong area. It has three bedrooms and four bathrooms. There is onsite parking for two cars at the rear of the cottage. There are sea views from the first floor king-size bedroom and top floor king size bedroom.

We loved Pendynas, it was as we expected and more . The property is really well cared for so much so it felt like we were the first to ever stay there. The location is perfect with Porthgwidden Beach just round the corner and the added bonus of 2 parking spaces whilst also being near the town centre . The property is very well equipped and spotlessly clean , it had every facility we needed. Contact with Orange Roofs and the housekeeper regarding arrival and departure ran smoothly. We will definitely be returning.

An exceptionally clean light spacious property in the most convenient part of St Ives, easy access to all the shops amenities and beaches. Everything you could possibly need is provided along with games for the family should the weather be unusually unkind.  
Any queries (due to me!) are promptly dealt with by the friendly and helpful Orange Roofs staff. A lovely holiday in a lovely place, all good!

Excellent property in a good location. Quality is to a very high standard. Rooms are all good sizes and en suite bathrooms work well. Parking for one car is straight forwards, even for a large vehicle. Parking for two cars would be tight unless they are both small. Communication from Orange Roofs was excellent too.

It was so convenient for the town, beach, restaurants, shops, trips out and transport. The parking is an absolute Gem, we didn't use our cars all week! The property was really clean, well maintained, felt luxurious (the welcome basket was great, thanks x) and we will definitely be returning.

Our first stay here at Pendynas as we know St Ives extremely well ….
Top marks for parking right at back of property as rare in St Ives and for 2 cars. Fabulous loft bedroom and Ensuite with lovely view.
Superb kitchen with seating area for relaxing meals. We would return

Pendynas was in a great location for resturants and Fore St and the habour in St Ives. It was a bonus to have 2 parking spaces as well. It was like a home away from home. Very clean and tidy. We had 5 adults staying there and was essential for each bedroom to have their own bathroom (that were good sizes) as were the bedrooms. Loved the app as very helpful and explained everything. Thank you

Pendynas is not only immaculate, stylish and well equipped, it is also in a lovely quiet location. Everything is easily accessible with 2 beaches within a few minutes walk and the harbour, shops and restaurantsTakll close by.The icing on the cake is the parking for 2 cars. We stayed with friends who like body-boarding and the close proximity to the beach was fantastic. As was the downstairs shower with access from the courtyard garden. We thoroughly recommend this property for a great stay in St Ives

We've just returned from a fantastic 7 nights stay. The cottage is as described, very well equipped, comfortable, clean and just a delight to be in. The location is fabulous, literally 2 minutes from the beaches and in a perfect location for the shops and restaurants. Parking of 2 estate cars was fine. We'd definitely come back. All the info on the orange roofs app was also extremely helpful and well thought out. Thank you

We have been coming to St Ives on holiday for over 40 years, as children and with our own children. This year was our first dealings with Orange Roofs and staying at Pendynas and from the beginning it has been a really good start. Orange Roofs have been extremely helpful from the booking to any issues/questions we had during our stay. Pendynas is probably the loveliest house we have stayed in over the years. It was modern yet comfortable, every thought that has gone into the house is benefitted by us as occupants. We were so impressed that we have already booked for 2021 and cant wait to return.

Pendynas is a beautiful cottage in a quiet street close to all amenities. Everything about the property screams quality, everything you need is there. The bonus of parking at the property make life so much easier. This is the nicest most luxurious property we have stayed in.

What a happy find. St Ives is my go to place and this cottage fills all my expectations. We have stayed here 3 times now with a fourth booked in spring. So convenient to soak up the atmosphere and within walking distance of pubs and eateries. Parking is onsite but tight. Building going on further up back road meant lorries needed to access. Weather was interesting due to storms but made for some amazing photos.

Cleanliness on arrival was excellent with a nice surprise welcome including a bottle of wine and some nibbles. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need, including all the basics on arrival so you don't have to rush out to the supermarket! We have stayed before and would definitely return again. The allocated parking space is big enough for two cars.

The property is wonderfully well planned including both an outdoor shower and outside access to downstairs shower room. Kitchen was very well equipped and furniture and decor is restful and relaxing. It’s often the little detail that can make or break a holiday, but in Pendynas every detail has been covered. A property may be wonderful but it also needs a good handling agent to make the whole experience positive. Orange Roofs proved to be excellent and would certainly be my first choice when searching for holiday properties in the area again. Five stars all around!

We booked Pendynas for a spring weekend break with our grown up daughters and their partners and it really didn't disappoint. From the regular informative contact from Orange Roofs in advance of our stay, to the standard of the property, everything was just perfect. The house is spacious, but has a wonderful cosy feel and has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. It is only a few minutes from the centre of the town but out of the way enough to avoid the crowds. We are regular St Ives visitors and have stayed in numerous properties over the years, but this has to be my favourite so far.

We considered Pendynas to be an excellent property right in the heart of St Ives and within close reach of shops, beaches and places to eat. Car was parked at the rear of the property and not needed for the duration of our holiday, there is a bus terminal and train station within a 15 minute walk. The accommodation which includes 3 en-suite bedrooms and a ground floor shower room was modern and comfortable with top class fittings throughout. The kitchen, an integral part of the open plan ground floor living area had all the necessary appliances and was very well equipped. Many thanks for your wonderful service, the staff were very friendly, extremely efficient and helpful. Highly recommended.

We chose Pendynas as we took our elderly fathers away and it seemed ideal as we needed 3 bedrooms all with ensuite facilities. We were not disappointed as it had all this as well as a downstairs cloakroom with a walk in shower too. It is a beautifully appointed house which has obviously been lovingly renovated with all mod cons. We were very impressed with the quality of all the equipment too. The only things we could find that could be improved are the glass tumblers which are quite thick and heavy and there was no wine rack. A proper coffee maker would also be an advantage. The best pasties we've ever had are Pengenna's in the main street! We had a super week and lovely weather even though it was the first week in October! Very impressed and would definitely recommend this to potential visitors. We hope to return next year. Thank you David Gail Brian and Bernard

This is our first booking with Orange Roofs. We are very glad to have found them as both Sam and Ross were so helpful and friendly throughout the booking process. We did have quite specific requirements, due to my elderly mother being part of the group, but Sam was able to help and advise us. We cannot praise and thank them enough! We were the first people to stay in Pendynas. The house totally met all of our requirements. It is beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high spec and was a pleasure to spend a week there. The owners have gone to great lengths with their attention to detail. For us the house was perfectly located, just a few minutes walk to the harbour and all of our favourite restaurants. To have parking right outside the house is incredibly rare and very useful. We cannot praise this house enough and would highly recommend it! We will definitely be back!
