About Artist's Light

Artist’s Light is perhaps one of the best-kept secrets in St Ives. If you have strolled the cobbled path of Fore Street, you would have passed its front door many times without even knowing. Now the secret is out about this beautifully renovated apartment within a townhouse, in the heart of St Ives! At a glance, this luxury self-catering apartment in St Ives can sleep six guests in three bedrooms and three bathrooms and it accepts up to two medium-sized, dogs. Let us explain more, as this apartment has a quirky notion! Two of the bedrooms and bathrooms are in the main apartment, which overlooks St Ives Harbour and has stupendous sea views, and then the third bedroom and en-suite is in a lower-ground-floor annexe, less than 20 seconds away along the Custom House Passage. As the annexe is not integral to the apartment, we believe it suitable for older teenagers or adults only. You will have a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, and the property also provides a highchair and travel cot. St Ives Harbour beach is just a minute's walk away so entertaining excited dogs or children is super easy! Enjoy the benefit of being in the heart of the action but get a good night's sleep thanks to the blackout and soundproof shutters.

You'll spot the blue front door of this luxury holiday accommodation in St Ives, located in the centre of Fore Street, but when you enter you instantly feel setback from the cobbled road and begin to feel the true sense of comfort that Artist's Light provides. Upon entering the property you'll find the utility room to your left, and then there is a flight of internal stairs you take to reach the first floor. Here is where you'll catch your first uninterrupted views of St Ives' much-loved harbour.

The living room boasts a portrait view of Smeaton's Pier and its lighthouse, meaning it is one of the best spots to sit and watch the tide roll in and out. If you're struggling to draw yourself from the sea views, you'll find a perfectly positioned large and comfortable G Plan swivel chair, although this is arguably the best seat in the house so there may be a little competition for it! For the evenings or just simply relaxing, there are two sofas and a Smart TV where you can log in to your own Netflix, Amazon Prime or enjoy iPlayer and other catch-up programmes, so you won't miss any of the family favourites. If you're looking for a quiet corner in the house to get creative, there's a desk space which offers a great base for you to get stuck into your masterpiece!

Down the hallway, at the front of the house, is the spacious and newly renovated kitchen. With two large sash windows, it allows natural light to pour in and is a great space to sit and enjoy your morning coffee whilst watching the world go by. The kitchen overlooks Fore Street where there is often a buzz of life, with fresh coffees, homemade fudge stores, Beer and Bird and good old traditional Cornish pubs too; all just a matter of moments from your front door. As the kitchen is well above ground level, you are able to enjoy the excitement of the day with your own privacy. It is equipped with all you need for a self-catering holiday in St Ives, including all essential integrated appliances, Nespresso machine and an added bonus of a dishwasher.

Both of the bedrooms in the main part of the house are set back to the rear of the house. The master bedroom has a large, super-king-sized bed that oozes comfort and luxury. The only thing that may coax you out of bed in the morning is the beautiful view from the bedroom window that looks over St Ives Harbour. This bedroom also has an en-suite shower room with a large overhead shower (and remarkable for a St Ives' cottage, it suits a very tall person also!). The twin bedroom (that can also be made into a king - in width only as are two 2ft 6" single beds that can be joined - if requested before arrival) comfortably sleeps two guests and has a few essential homely touches to help you ease into your stay. Whilst the building has had a complete internal refurbishment, it has kept much of its traditional structure and, in the twin room, you'll spot the very high Velux window in the vaulted ceiling - controlled at a push of a button. The family bathroom caters for all your needs: there is a large, free-standing bathtub with a hand-held shower head, perfect for warming you up after a dip in the Cornish sea, as well as a separate, walk-in shower.

One of our favourite and most unique parts of this property is its annexe, located off the Custom House Passage. Again, as this is separate from the main house, it's only suitable for older teenagers or adults. What would have once been a storeroom for the 19th century shop has now been converted into a stylish and spacious, self-contained, annexe. With high ceilings, a luxury super-king-sized bed (in width only as it is two 3ft singles beds joined so can be a twin configuration if requested in advance), a TV with Chromecast (for streaming only), an en-suite and your own mini pantry area (including a kettle and mini-fridge). You'll certainly struggle to decide which part of the house you wish to stay in! Please note, there is no direct access from the main house to the annexe: you are only able to access the annexe via its own front door located in Custom House Passage. However, it is only a very short walk between the front door of the main house and annexe, about 25 steps or less than 20 seconds!

Whilst talking about the alley, this is your quickest route to the sea! Ideally located on Fore Street, this holiday apartment is just a matter of moments from the St Ives Harbour and Harbour Beach. If you fancy a different beach, you are roughly equal distance from our two Blue Flag awarded beaches in St Ives: Porthmeor Beach and Porthminster Beach. Fore Street is also lined with galleries and independent stores celebrating local talent and local crafted goodies, perfect for browsing! You have a range of amazing cafes and restaurants just moments from your front door.

The parking for Artist's Light is located at the St Ives Rugby Club, which is approximately a 15-18 minute uphill walk away. The walk may feel a big uphill for those not used to hills. We appreciate it may be slightly more of a walk than a public car park but the owners kindly wish to provide a guaranteed and free parking space for their guests during their stay.

Up to two well-behaved and well-mannered dogs are very welcome at Artist's Light, all we ask is that you let us know the age and breeds of your dogs (even their name so we can make friends with them too!). We also ask you to travel with their crate, if they are used to one, and dog beds and towels so they make themselves at home just as much as you. Please remember they aren't allowed on furniture in the holiday home.

To re-cap, Artist's Light is a beautiful self-catering apartment in the very heart of St Ives. It sleeps six people with four being in the main apartment with a king-size bedroom and a twin (or king-size) second bedroom. There is an annexe that accommodates a further two adults or older teenagers which can either be a twin bed configuration or a super king bed. There are two bathrooms in the main apartment and an en-suite in the annexe. Artist's Light is a dog-friendly holiday rental and accepts up to two well-behaved dogs. Parking is at St Ives Rugby Club.

Artist's Light was possibly the nicest rental we have ever stayed in... Anywhere. It was immaculate in every way and had every thing you could need. The attention to detail was second to none, and the bonus of a self contained annex made it perfect. This is the first time we've used Orange Roofs too but we will return to both.

Artist's light is in a great location on Fore Street to access all St Ives has to offer. The kitchen/dining area was very large and well equipped looking over Fore Street. There were brilliant views from the living room and one of the bedrooms and the lounge had loads of comfy seating. Everything was very clean and the bedding/towels were good quality.

The property is well decorated and they have thought of many things you might need while away including; hot water bottles, games, books, nespresso machine, fans etc. It is also really handy having a washing machine and tumble dryer!

It was a little noisy on some evenings, but with the windows/skylights closed it's hardly noticeable and that's a small price to pay for the convenient location.

There was plenty of space for us to park outside the property to load and unload and the parking was okay with about a 25 minute uphill walk to the Rugby Club.

This is our second time staying in an Orange Roofs Property and we have been impressed both times with both the property itself and the customer service. Would highly recommend staying with Orange Roofs.

Great location for accessing all the bars restaurants and of course the fantastic beaches in St Ives. It was just such a benefit to be able to access the property on the doorstep every morning and evening.

Plenty of room, really well equipped in the kitchen and around the house. A bonus was a better than expected view of the harbour beach from both bedroom and the living room.

Very comfortable seating areas and firm beds with good quality linen.

A bit of noise on Friday and Saturday nights with the merriment going up and down fore Street but to be honest we didn't mind that and it winds down quite quickly at about midnight. And with the windows closed it's not so bad.

Without any air conditioning in the summer the flat can get very hot and can make sleeping a bit difficult unless you're happy with the seagulls at four o'clock in the morning and have the windows open

Parking worked ok for us it takes about 20 minutes to walk up and down from the rugby club. We were able to park opposite both on arrival and departure and load our stuff from and to the car

Would recommend.

Artist's Light is a delightful property, tastefully decorated and really well equipped with the perfect view - watching the sea and boats from the sitting room and people watching in Fore Street from the kitchen. This is our second Orange roofs property and we have been really impressed both times, not only with the property , but also with the customer service and care and information. A great experience all round.

We had a lovely long weekend staying at Artists light. The apartment location couldn't have been better. The apartment was really well laid out with lots of space which can be unusual for St Ives. We made use of the annexe and this worked really well for our family. Highly recommended.

This was our second visit to Artist's Light and it was every bit as good as the first. It's so lovely to be right in the middle of St. Ives with just a short stroll to anywhere. The apartment is stunning and the views never fail to please.

Artists light was amazing. Super clean, quality bedding & towels and everything you can possibly need for a great holiday. Location was ideal for us as we didn't want to drive anywhere and could enjoy a few drinks out with a short stroll back. Living spaces are bigger than they look, so perfect for socialising in a group. Orange Roofs we're extremely professional and replied to any emails promptly. We will be back!

Wow, what an amazing place! So big and spacious, extremely comfortable, perfect location, well equipped (turns out I didn't need to bring my Nespresso machine from home ) clean and beautifully furnished. We had a baby stay with us so the travel cot, high chair, childrens plates, cups, bowls, safety plugs, books, games, toys were great. They even had a sippy cup in case you forgot your own! Just missing a safety gate at the top of the stairs but I can see it would be difficult due to the design/shape of the wall and location of the radiator/pipes in the hallway. We just kept the doors shut which was fine. The beds were super comfortable and the bathrooms beautiful. The master bedroom didn't have any draw space but we managed to fit our 'draw stuff' in the shelves at the side of the wardrobe so all good. The kitchen and dining area overlooks Fore Street, from one floor up, we opened the windows during the day and would relax with a morning coffee and listen to the hustle and bustle below. I did wonder if noise would be an issue at night (we've stayed at properties on Fore Street before and found the pubs noisey at night), but Artists Light was perfect, we didn't hear a thing. The living room and bedrooms are set back and look out to the harbour. In fact I didn't even hear a thing from room to room, perfect when your partner tends to get up at 5am! The Annex is a really quirky addition, again decorated beautifully with super comfy bed and ensuite shower/bathroom. I've stayed at a lot of Properties in St Ives and have booked with Orange Roofs in the past. I will always recommend Orange Roofs to people, its a real personable service and everyone I have spoken too have been fantastic. Plus the properties they manage are another level of luxury. We can't wait to come back to Artists Light, I thought I'd found all the hidden gems already until Orange Roofs advertised this place. I cant recommend this apartment enough, it was perfect.

Was a delight to deal with Orange Roofs, they gave great communication and contacted us the moment we could move in to the property (over 2 hours earlier than anticipated). When entering the property you could see the attention to detail and quality finish put into all aspects of the property. Also the Christmas tree was a nice touch. All in all a really lovely holiday thoroughly enjoyed in a great property. Will definitely rebook if we return to St Ives in future. One very slight request would be a little more colour in the property as it is quite neutral throughout but certainly didn't detract from the holiday.

Artists Light in St Ives is a wonderful place to stay. It is a beautifully decorated with fabulous attention to detail and brilliant views. It is situated right in the heart of the town, moments from the harbour, yet is a quiet haven. The third bedroom is in an annexe a few yards away, which provides privacy for older children, or if different couples are staying together. This has all the amenities you need, including a mini kitchen, ensuite and TV. The information provided by Orange Roofs about both the property and the local area are the best we have ever received. Really comprehensive and useful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Absolutely fantastic stay in Artists light. The first time for us in the centre of town and we were not disappointed, really close to everything St ives has to offer. The apartment was spotless and luxurious, everything you could possibly need and more was available. There's a fantastic view from the sitting room and main bedroom a fantastic spot to watch the sunrise from your bed and great for people watching and being a part of the atmosphere of the town from the kitchen diner. We had one minor issue with the Annex shower drain this was sorted within a few hours to suit us, couldn't fault the service provided by orange roofs. All in all we had an absolutely amazing week, the sun shone every day and we were very sad to leave. Thank you!

My family and I recently stayed at Artist light in June The accommodation is perfectly located just a stone throw away from the harbour beach. Very clean snd tidy and fully equipped. Very central to pop out to shops, great deli across the road. it was perfect for us as we have older teens as Annexe is a less than a minute walk down side public alleyway leading to harbour. The accommodation itself is stunning and beautifully designed, with everything you could possibly need with views right across the harbour ..we hope to return again next year. Thank you. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful apartment. We didn't want to leave, such a fantastic location you can look out to sea from your armchair in the morning. at the harbour. The location is great as we could pop to restaurant bars snd shops and pop back easily. Deli across the road has everything you need. Artist light has no expense spared it is finished to a very high standard and spotless. Home from home everything you could possibly need.. it is set up perfectly for a family with older children as the Annexe was a great for two of my daughter who are late teens. We will be returning next year if it's available. Thank you Jean Adam Kate Becky Aimee.xxx

Wow is what we all kept saying as we wandered around Artists Light for the first time! The space is absolutely beautiful and has been very carefully finished with every last detail being spot on! It was spotlessly clean and really did feel like a home from home! Not only was it perfectly decorated but they have thought of everything, hot water bottles, torches, games, maps...everything you need is there! Location is also brilliant, as long as you don't mind the hustle and bustle of Fore Street (which quietens off around 6pm) Will definitely be returning for a second trip :)

We stayed for a week in the newly refurbished Artists Light, a fab stylish apartment opposite the wonderful Allotment Deli on Fore Street. The property is spacious and full of light, with very comfortable beds and fantastic bathrooms. Everything is really high quality, and the owners have really thought hard about making their guests' stay enjoyable. There are great views over the Harbour from one side, and you can people watch on Fore Street from the other. Beaches, museums, cafes, restaurants, bars & shops are all on your doorstep. The Annex is literally just round the corner, it is cosy and self contained, with the same quality and attention to detail, and was perfect for two teenagers. The rugby club (for car parking) is about a 20 minute walk up some steep hills - just what you need to walk off the pasties and ice cream, although we didn't use the car all week. Orange Roofs were a pleasure to deal with - really friendly and efficient, answered emails and questions straight away, and very helpful with suggestions for good places to eat and drink. We had a really lovely stay at Artists Light - thank you.

We absolutely LOVED this property, we've stayed in many in St Ives and this is definitely our favourite so far. Situated overlooking Fore St at the front and Harbour beach and the lighthouse to the rear, the views across the bay are breathtaking both from the lounge and main bedroom. I believe we were the first guests to stay after the owners had carried out a major renovation and it was immaculate. Furnished beautifully, with everything you could possibly need, everything is of a high quality and very well thought out. We didn't use the 'annex' apartment room down the passageway, but had a peep in there and it is just as beautifully decorated as upstairs and would be ideal for another couple or teenagers. Well done to the owners on a fantastic renovation! We can't wait to return and have booked another week here next year already.
