About Tinhay

Tinhay offers the most amazing self-catering accommodation in St Ives with sea views and is perfect for families or friends sharing. It’s also a cosy retreat for a couple wanting relaxation and romance; it’s a light and spacious home with cosy home comforts which offer warmth, welcome and beautiful touches of luxury. This holiday cottage has three bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a downstairs shower room so can accommodate six very easily. Parking is provided for one car nearby (a 6-8 minute walk door-to-door!).

There is a small garden to the front of the house which has an outdoor dining set and stunning sea views. If you want to share your St Ives holidays with your beloved four-legged friend, we are delighted to say that Tinhay is also dog-friendly. If you are looking for a holiday cottage which is within a short walking distance to St Ives beaches, shops, restaurants and places to visit then we can highly recommend staying at Tinhay, it definitely ticks that box too!

The house has three floors with the shower room, kitchen, dining area and living room all on the ground floor. On the first floor, there is the family bathroom with a luxury bathtub, double bedroom and king-size bedroom with gorgeous sea views. On the top floor there is the super-king bedroom (in width only as it is two 3ft single beds joined - if your preference is to have twin beds, please request this when booking), en-suite shower room and wonderful sea views stretching as far as Porthminster beach. The light kitchen is beautifully done with a white marble kitchen counter, Belfast sink, integrated oven and hob, dishwasher and Lavazza A Modo Mio coffee machine. There is additional countertop space, Belfast sink and cupboards full of pots and pans in the downstairs shower room (which does not have a WC for clarity) perfect for surfers and swimmers to clean off their wetsuits and hang them to dry inside the house. It's also brilliant for washing off salt and sand from happy beach dogs being straight off the back door. The kitchen has the added benefit of an additional walk in larder space with a microwave and washer/ dryer so heaps of room for a family shop and cooking up feasts for a week.

The dining area is just off the kitchen, one step up into the living room where there is a dining table that easily seats a group of six so excellent for family dining or fun with games provided by the owner such as Monopoly and Uno. The living room has a large L-shaped super comfortable sofa with a generous helping of full and squishy cushions and cosy throws to curl up and read a book from Tinhay's small library. The Smart TV means you can log into your Amazon Prime or Netflix accounts meaning holidays to St Ives needn't interfere with a series you're glued to! If you prefer to sit, read, and listen to music you are welcome to ask Alexa to play your favourite playlist. The doors lead from the living room out onto the garden where warm, summer evenings can be enjoyed looking out to sea. The king size bedroom on the first floor has captivating sea views and a lovely coastal feel to the room encouraging restful sleep and relaxation. There is a Smart TV in this bedroom and Alexa too so watch what you want, when you want to save family squabbles! The double bedroom is a cosy and restful room with the window facing to the rear of the house onto Bowling Green Lane. The family bathroom is a light and airy room with a luxury bathtub with handheld shower head as well as WC and wash basin.

There is a generous landing area with built-in wardrobes and a carpeted staircase leads you up to the master bedroom with an incredibly comfortable super king size bed to sink into and the convenience of an en-suite shower room with a double sized walk-in shower, WC and wash basin. There is also a Smart TV and Alexa for your entertainment in this gorgeous bedroom. If you are looking for a self-catering holiday cottage in St Ives with sea views to die for, you will love Tinhay! The views from the master bedroom will keep you mesmerised for hours.

The nearest beach to Tinhay is Porthmeor beach and is a great hit with surfers. It is a sandy beach with public loos and a beach café on the West side (between Easter and October) as well as Porthmeor beach café which is open all year round. Stop here to watch the stupendous sunsets, they are truly magical. To reach Porthmeor beach from Tinhay on foot, there is a footpath with some steps that leads down to the beach directly and so you reach the soft sand in less than 3 minutes! It's that close you can pad down in flip flops with a beach bag and good book or surfboard under your arms and enjoy the beach life on your doorstep.

The same footpath arrives at the beautiful vestibule of The Tate St Ives, an award-winning museum of modern and contemporary art on the edge of Porthmeor beach. The Tate exhibits all year round and their rooftop café offers stupendous local food, drink and breath-taking sea views.

All other St Ives beaches are a very short walk away as is St Ives harbour and the quaint cobblestoned lane of Fore Street which is lined with independent shops, galleries, bakeries and delis as well as a choice of restaurants and Cornish pubs and some well-known shop brands like Musto and SuperDry. The walk from Tinhay to all the attractions of St Ives takes literally a few minutes strolling so you have the perfect combination of a peaceful holiday home location but can be within the hubbub of St Ives within moments.

To recap, Tinhay has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms and an extra shower room. It is a pet-friendly holiday cottage so accepts a well-behaved, well-mannered dog. It enjoys wonderful sea views from the two front bedrooms and garden. It has one allocated parking space provided for you which is a 6-8 minute walk from the house.

We have had a fantastic week in St Ives this Easter staying in Tinhay. Cricket on the beach, walkies around the island, a challenging walk to the Tinners in Zennor and fun nights out in Bier Haus, Porthminster, beer and bird and The sloop all highlights. Tinhay has been a cosy, clean, welcoming space in between, with a large open plan sitting room, dining area and everything we could need and more in the kitchen, where we were also left a lovely set of goodies to enjoy. The beds were all comfortable, clean and fresh and the roll top bath and two large powerful showers a delight. All the communication from orange roofs before, during and after our stay has been clear and easy and we would like to thank all the staff and the family for lending us their home from home for the week. We hope to stay again.

Orange Roofs get a gold star from us. Staff helpful and quick to reply to our queries.
Stayed in Tinhay in St Ives, lovely house, patio garden, comfy sofa, we slept in the master at the top of the house, beds( twins pushed together) exceptionally comfortable.
We were out most days, but there were a couple of times we had to work and had no problems with WiFi.
Our dog welcome, bowls supplied.

Our stay at Tinhay was wonderful, the house was super clean and beautifully presented when we arrived. Easy to find and access, all the home comforts we could have needed and plenty of room, at first we wondered if using the parking spot at the rugby club might be inconvinient and if we would be better off trying to park closer but actually it was perfect, the walk was pleasant and just another hill to get there, we had forgetton how much climbing there was to do in St Ives, as you meader around discovering all it has to offer, but then the ice creams and fish and chips are all guilt free!!! The views and sounds from across the harbour from the upsatirs rooms are beautiful, access to all the beaches, museums and shops from the house is easy, withthe wonderful Barbara Hepworth museum being more or less at the bottom of the road.
Even before we arrived to our holiday home, Orange Roof made the experience enjoyable with lots of information, making sure we had all the details we needed - without even asking. We would definitley book with Orange Roof again and not hesitate to stay at Tinhay.

Amazing place to stay, very homely, comfortable and clean. Great position not in the noise of the town, but not far to walk. Milk, butter and many items left for us to start our holiday, cannot fault anything about Tinhay, can't wait to stay again!! Loved every minute. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay at Tinhay, the cottage was absolutely stunning and felt so homely!

Beautiful views of the sea and tucked away on a lovely little street (lovely and peaceful) we really enjoyed our stay it was well equipped for us as a group of 7 and it was a quick walk into the town / beach (the hill will have you working the muscles)

We will definitely be returning!

Big thanks again x

Tinhay is absolutely stunning. It is bright and airy and real luxury from the well equipped kitchen to the really comfy beds. The sun is on the lovely little garden morning and evening and it is a stones throw to Porth Meor and the town (up a good hill). Absolutely enjoyed our stay but not just the house itself, Orange Roofs have been amazing and I could not recommend them more.

We had a wonderful stay in Tinhay. The shower in the utility area is a god send following a day on the beach! Has everything you need, beautiful view in the en-suite bedroom overlooking the sea. Not far to Porthmeor beach (surf beach) or into town for lovely restaurants, shops and bars, just beware of the big climb up the hill afterwards! Good supply of beach equipment for kids. Would recommend to any family coming St Ives.

Tinhay was amazing and the pictures from Orange roofs really didn't do it justice. Everything was of extremely high quality and the 3 storey house had been very well thought out. The view from the master bedroom was unbelievable. Even though there was no parking, dropping off suitcases and picking them up at the end of the holiday wasn't a problem. The location was perfect as it gave you some much needed exercise after all the food but was close enough to just pop to the beach or into town My only bit of feedback is it could do with a outside hose to wash down the wetsuits ( the downstairs washroom is great but then you have to drag your wet wetsuit through the house to hang out ) and a washing line to be able to hang clothes out We will definitely be using orange roofs again for all of the above and their brilliant communication

Amazing house. Loved the views and the garden terrace. We loved our stay at Tinhay. Loved the location, loved the garden, and loved the views. The big bath was great too. The open plan living area is a great size and bedrooms felt very comfortable. We will definitely come back.

We've just had a wonderful week in beautiful Tinhay. Everything about the house felt special - it was clean, fresh, beautifully decorated & very welcoming and full of lovely touches (the fluffiest towels, comfiest beds, wonderful views & very well equipped). We couldn't have wished for a nicer place to spend our holiday, would absolutely recommend. We also found OrangeRoofs a very friendly, helpful company to book through. It all made our latest St. Ives holiday very memorable.
