About Atlantic Blue
Please note, in light of the COVID-19 virus, we want to reassure you that this St Ives self-catering property has an extremely thorough clean plus disinfection of hard surfaces and soft furnishings after each guest stay. Atlantic Blue is an oceanside apartment located a mere 100 metres from the Porthmeor Beach shoreline. You and the beach are separated simply by some stairs and a slipway, so as you may imagine, there are some wonderful sea views from this apartment. Whether you’re relaxing in the kitchen area or enjoying some time outside on your enclosed private terrace, you will have expansive sea views over the scenic Porthmeor beach, as well as some panoramic views of the Tate and Clodgy point. This apartment has a thoughtful interior finish, reflecting its idyllic beachside location, with some unique and stylish feature pieces from Tracy Goldsmith and Jo Downs glassware. This beautiful seaside apartment is a duplex, with one bedroom, so it is perfect for a couples get away. However, it is able to sleep up to four guests as there is the option of a king-sized sofa bed. To access the property, you need to climb four moderate flights of external stairs, but, don’t worry, if you or a member of your party may struggle with mobility, there is a stair lift (please get in touch if you need this). However, for the most, the stairs are manageable and easily climbed, even with luggage. On the first floor of the duplex, you will find the bedroom that can have the bed either as a king size, or two singles. This floor also has the bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, wash basin and WC. The kitchen is fully equipped with integrated appliances, as well as panoramic views of Porthmeor beach (a cooking necessity!). Here you will also find a dining table that can comfortably seat four guests.
There is one flight of internal stairs within the property, these take you to the living room and your enclosed, outdoor, terrace area. The living room has been designed to enhance the natural beauty that you are surrounded by. This is where you will find the sofa that can be made into a king-sized sofa bed, allowing for two additional guests. The patio doors allow for heaps of natural light and on a warm evening, the terrace is the perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy the views and sounds of the beach. The terrace area is enclosed and therefore safe for your dog to be out enjoying the space with you, however there is a picnic bench, if you have nifty climbers be sure to keep a keen eye on them so they don't make it up on to the wall!
Hopefully by now, we have stressed just how close to the beach you are, but just in case… Porthmeor beach is your closest! Porthgwidden is also just a few moments' walk from your front door. Porthmeor Beach has a dog ban during the peak seasons. This is usually between mid-April until the end of September. The specific dates change annually so be sure to check on the Cornwall council website. Out of season, dogs are welcome on the beach at all times! Your closest dog friendly beach to Atlantic Blue is Bamaluz beach, a short walk away near Smeatons Pier. The size of this beach is dramatically impacted by the tide so be sure to check ahead. If you need a slightly larger beach, Porthkidney is just a 10-minute drive away in Lelant.
During your stay, your closest restaurant is Porthmeor Beach Café, open for the most delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner (with amazing sea views!). You are also a very short walk away from The Mermaid, a much-loved seafood restaurant in St Ives. However, Atlantic Blue is only a stone's throw from the centre of St Ives so within a couple of minutes you will find yourself with a wealth of restaurants and cafes to choose from along the harbour front. Just behind the harbour front, you will find Fore Street, where the majority of St Ives' shops are located, perfect for looking for holiday gifts for those who couldn't join you or a treat for yourself!
If you're able to drag yourself away from the beaches and sampling all of the wonderful food spots in town, visiting some of your closest galleries may be a nice way to enjoy your time in St Ives. The Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum are a very short walk away; however, you will stumble across many hidden gems whilst strolling along Fore Street.
There are many outdoor, seaside and national trust locations for you to enjoy just a short drive from Atlantic Blue or if you're feeling brave you can enjoy the long coastal walk from St Ives to Zennor! However, here's a few of a favourite National Trust location; St Michaels Mount, Godrevy, Porthcurno and Trengwainton Gardens. Your nearest golf course to Atlantic Blue is West Cornwall Golf Club in Lelant.
Atlantic Blue comes with its own allocated parking space, in the underground car park of the apartment complex. The apartment complex and carpark was built back in the 70's (when cars were a little smaller) Please do contact us when booking to check whether your car will easily fit or may need a little more manoeuvring. If you're brining a second car, your closest long stay car park is the Island Car Park, just a few minutes' walk away.
