About The Garden House

The Garden House in St Ives is a perfect oasis of calm just off the bustling Fore Street vibe. You will find a mouth-watering choice of cafes, shops, galleries, and restaurants along the charming, cobbled Fore Street which runs parallel to St Ives Harbour and just metres from the seafront. This beautiful dog-friendly St Ives holiday cottage, accessed via Academy steps to Academy Place, is nestled behind all the action and offers a peaceful retreat from the beaches and the shops when you need a little peace and relaxation in the sun. The garden is fully enclosed and has part terraced and part raised beds. Wash off the sand and sea salt in the outside shower or cool off on those hot, sunny sunbathing days! Evening dining is sublime when the garden and terrace are lit by beautiful surround lighting. There is a bespoke-made bench and a dining set for those balmy summer evening dinners at ‘home’.   This St Ives holiday cottage is reverse level so you walk into the living room from the garden and the bedrooms are on the sub-ground level. A large sofa easily invites a party of four to relax and sprawl out while reading or watching the Smart TV. The amount of natural light in the living room is uplifting and simply fabulous for curling up with your favourite book and cup of tea (or glass of wine!). The Mustard cabinet hides the coats and shoes from sight meaning you won’t be tripping over your shoes or blocking the wonderful garden views.

A few steps lead down to the large kitchen which is spacious and cosy in the same breath. It has a table that seats six so plenty of room for a family of four to play board games or have family evenings in. The kitchen has integrated appliances; an under-counter freezer, under-counter fridge, washing machine, oven and 5-ring gas hob. There is a Nespresso coffee machine for those who love their coffee and a milk frother for the budding baristas. There is a leather sofa and TV in the kitchen area making it a great room for the whole family to relax together whatever mealtime it is. There is a wet room just off the kitchen with wash basin and WC.

Downstairs are the bedrooms and the family bathroom. The family bathroom has a bath, separate shower, wash basin and WC and is just a few steps away from both the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, built-in wardrobes with ample hanging space and an area to store holiday cases. The curtains, on a silent gliss track, are blackout so curl up on the Hypnos Flora mattress which promises a luxurious and comfortable night's sleep. The twin bedroom can also be configured as a super king bed (in width) and has an open rail for hanging clothes as well as bookshelves for some nighttime reading choices. The twin room also has blackout curtains on a silent gliss track as well as Hypnos Flora mattresses.

The Garden House is designed to offer its guests a home away from home feeling. It aims to give a great night's sleep, an easy cooking and dining experience, lounging and relaxation on tap and all within a few hundred metres of shops, restaurants, galleries and best of all, the beach and sea. St Ives has so much to offer visitors; fabulous places to eat and drink, the best surf beach on the north coast of Cornwall, amazing sunsets, incredible walks, tempting places to shop and interesting places to visit. The Garden House is in the heart of it all!

Guests are welcome to bring along their very well-behaved dog (no more than 18kgs) as long as their chewing days are behind them and they are super clean indoors. As there is no grass in the garden, dogs must be exercised away from the garden for morning and evening ablutions!

To re-cap: The Garden House sleeps a family of four or two couples sharing. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom can either be configured as a twin bed set up or a super king bed (in width - it is two 3ft single beds linked together to make a 6ft wide bed). The garden is fully enclosed and has outdoor furniture for outdoor dining. Please note, it does not have a BBQ. There is an outdoor shower to wash off sandy wetsuits and bodies. The Garden House provides one allocated parking space at St Ives Rugby Club. This is a 20-minute walk from the house but it is possible to unload luggage before parking (or we recommend using a local taxi!). There are regular shuttle buses from the club to Porthmeor beach from St Ives Rugby Club.  1 well-behaved medium dog weighing no more than 18kgs.

Fantastic stay at the Garden House. We loved the location and the added gem of a private outside seating area. Orange Roofs are an excellent company.

We had a wonderful holiday at The Garden House. Although situated off the busy Fore Street, the house and garden was a haven of peace and quiet. The house was very comfortable and the kitchen was spacious and had had everything needed. Bathrooms were lovely. The bedrooms were tastefully decorated and beds very comfortable. The passageway off Fore Street to enter the property is quite steep and has quite a few steps. We managed by getting a taxi from Fore Street to take our luggage to and from the property but even so we had to carry it up and down the steep passageway. This may prove very difficult for elderly or disabled guests. The car parking space at the Rugby club was a bonus.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Garden House. We have been coming to St Ives for many years so know the place well and have stayed in lots of properties.

This property in particular is the most spacious we've ever stayed in, right in the heart of St Ives. It was perfect for our family of four, with two teenage boys and small dog.

The added addition of the garden was wonderful, it contributed to the overall relaxing atmosphere of the house.

The house itself is tucked away off of Fore St, and is an oasis of calm and tranquility. It's situated in a fantastic, traffic free location but very close to everything. The upstairs of the house is flooded with light, and the decor is neutral and pretty. The bedrooms are located downstairs which makes the rooms very quiet and perfect for sleeping in.
The Garden House is a gem.

Also wanted to add that the staff at Orange Roofs are exceptional. We had to change our original booking and they were fantastic to deal with. I had complete confidence in them all the way through.
They work to high standards at all times.

What a wonderful house. A true gem, hidden in plain sight. A very spacious house perfectly positioned. We throughly enjoyed our stay and will be back, hopefully very soon.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Garden House in St Ives, and it was an experience that went beyond all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were delighted by the charm that this lovely house has. While being both spacious and perfectly located it is yards away from Fore Street. The Garden House offers a serene retreat that feels like a slice of paradise in a busy St Ives. We visited early June and the town was vibrant. The attention to detail in the decor is wonderful, blending modern homely comforts with a touch of classic elegance. The bedrooms are spacious, immaculately clean, with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, giving us both restful nights sleep after our active days exploring the St Ives cobblestone streets, vibrant art scene, and breathtaking coastal views.

What can we say?! The Garden House is a hidden gem that offers an exceptional blend of comfort, convenience and calm. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, a peaceful retreat, or a classic family holiday, this charming holiday home is the perfect choice. We left with hearts full of wonderful memories and a strong desire to return. Highly recommended!
