What 18 The Carracks offers families and couples wanting a holiday in St Ives is bountiful! It showcases wonderful contemporary touches and stylish accents of Scandinavian cosiness and, almost at once, you feel utterly at home. This three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is spacious and welcoming with the garden being bathed in sunshine from late morning onwards and landscaped with privacy bamboo where you can snooze dreamily on the super comfortable outdoor sofas. From the top two bedrooms and the garden, you look out onto Rosewall Hill which offers the most beautiful network of local walks right on your doorstep.
The Carracks is located in the Consols area of St Ives which
means you get the best of both worlds; peace when you wish to step
away from the busy hubbub of the town yet just a 20- minute walk to
join the crowds if you wish. If you don't want to walk, local taxis
take a matter of moments to pop you and your family (and family
pooch) to the beaches or restaurants in St Ives. If you want a base
to explore the rest of Cornwall by car (without being snarled up in
the St Ives narrow roads) or perhaps on foot you really couldn't be
better placed. The walks are stupendous ranging from the dramatic
and romantic moors to coastal paths stretching from the far West to
the North coast. You can easily build in a great walk to Zennor and
stop off at The Tinners Arms before meandering home across the
The Carracks is on a private no through road which faces Rosewall Hill to the front and the road into St Ives to the rear. On entering The Carracks you will notice the mix of homes with slate roofs and others with natural sedum roofs. 18 The Carracks has a natural roof which means this eco-friendly home is toasty all year round and very well insulated. On entering the house, there is the hallway and downstairs cloakroom with WC and then you enter the open plan living, dining and kitchen. It's such a bright and sunny room as it is glazed from wall to wall with patio doors that open generously onto the outdoor dining area of the garden. The kitchen is very well-equipped to cater for a family of six with integrated electric fan oven and gas hob, a large fridge/ freezer and dishwasher to take away the after-dinner strain! The dining table easily and comfortably seats 6 but can be extended to seat 8 if needs be. The 49-inch Smart TV is hugged in the corner of the room where you can log into your favourite Apps and lose the hours if the weather is inclement.
Up a short flight of stairs, you will get to a family bathroom with bath and shower over, wash basin and loo. Next to that is a small utility area with washing machine and it also stores the electric clothes drier rack for when the day is too wet to use the line outside. The boiler is also housed in this room and it's a great room for dumping things you'd prefer not to have in the hallway! Then there is the twin bedroom with two single beds that overlooks the natural hedge at the rear of the house. Another short flight of stairs takes you to the top floor with two large bedrooms with their own en-suite bathrooms. Each of the bedrooms face the beautiful Rosewall Hill with its iconic granite stacks silhouetting the hill; the sunsets you see from each of these rooms is really rather spectacular! Each room has its own en-suite with large walk-in shower, wash basin and loo. There is a super king size bed with Tempur Sensation Elite mattress, large wardrobe and chest of drawers in one of the bedrooms, and in the other, there is a king size bed with hanging rail and chest of drawers so plenty of room for a daily change of holiday clothes! For those who are on a 'working-holiday', there is a desk and plenty of natural light on the top floor landing to get productive peacefully.
If you wish to share your holiday in St Ives with your dog, they are most welcome as long as they follow the house rules. The garden is fully enclosed front and back (although landscaped means there is no lawn, just gravel, paving and raised beds). The rear garden has been left as a banking with wild plants and flowers growing so they can go exploring to their hearts content (safely!).
The owners have thoughtfully provided bed bumpers for younger toddlers, a cot, high chair and push chair which can all be requested on booking.

We stayed in 18 The Carrocks, St Ives The property was very well maintained, very clean throughout, well equipped and gave us everything we needed providing us with an excellent base for our holiday. The host provided us with some essentials on arriving such as tea, coffee and milk and some special touches; scones, cream, jam and a bottle of Prosecco which we really enjoyed. The only negative aspect from our perspective was the distance from the centre of St Ives which was 25 minutes walk going downhill but seemed much longer returning, due to the steep climb. We didn't have children with us but I would imagine families would find this difficult especially some parts of the journey where there were no pavements but lots of traffic. However taxis were readily available from the taxi rank by the cinema which we made good use of. Overall we had a lovely holiday and the property was excellent

Excellent property which is appointed to a very high standard. Very comfortable with all you need for a self catering week away whether you are cooking, relaxing or a combination of the two. The property has beautiful outdoor furniture and offers a nice space to eat or relax outdoors. It is also great for dogs as the garden is fully enclosed and safe. Located on the outskirts of the resort it is a nice downhill walk to the harbour, beaches and many shops and restaurants but a very steep walk back which would not suit those that do not like walking. There are however buses and taxis, though pre booking taxis is advisable. The property is in an ideal location if you wish to explore other resorts by car. The Thai restaurant in the harbour is a must as is Cafe Pasta & Pizzeria for lunch and Sharky's Fish & Chips are the best which is just around the corner from the property. Unfortunately Portminster and Portmeor Cafe cancelled our bookings due to Covid but are highly recommended. Carbis Bay Beach Restaurant was good for diner but would recommend lunch for a more lively atmosphere. Restaurants need to be booked in advance. The property would be enhanced further with a tumble dryer and a TV in the master bedroom though not essential. Overall an excellent property which is of a high standard and impeccably clean, we would definitely book again. The welcome pack was an unexpected surprise offering cream tea upon arrival as well as other treats.

18 The Carracks has everything you need and more for a perfect stay in St Ives. The property is beautifully decorated with the most comfortable beds we have slept in. All rooms are fully equipped with everything you would find in your home. The outside area is spacious with furniture for alfresco dining on summer evenings. On arrival we received a welcome pack with essentials to get us started, cream scones and prosecco. Such thoughtful owners who ensure that all of their guests have a perfect stay in beautiful St Ives.
