About Penhallow
Penhallow is a luxury holiday cottage in St Ives and there's no doubt about that! It has added subtle and modern luxury touches to an already beautiful traditional fishing cottage. No area has been left unthought of, maximising space and comfort. With all new furniture, a brand-new kitchen, renovated basement room with a new addition of an en-suite shower room, we guarantee you will ease into the coastal comfort of this wonderful St Ives cottage immediately!
Not only does the property host a beautiful interior, perfect for a family stay or cosy couple getaway, it is in an idyllic location. Tucked away from the hustle bustle of the harbour at the back of Mount Zion, one of the oldest parts of St Ives. The front door is accessed by a passageway meaning there is very little footfall past Penhallow. However, this enjoyable sense of privacy does not mean you're far from all your St Ives necessities.
You won't feel short for space at Penhallow as it is spread across three floors, however due to it being a traditional fishing cottage you still get the cosy comfort of a home from home. As you enter the property through the front door on the first floor you are welcomed by the newly designed open plan living room and kitchen. Both areas are stylishly decorated to reflect the cottage and its beautiful seaside surroundings. In the living room there is a comfy sofa accompanied by a large plush armchair, either are perfect for snuggling up on around Penhallow's wood burner or simply chilling out on after a day at the beach. If it's a rainy evening and you're looking for some at home entertainment, there is a Smart T.V in Penhallow's living room, so you can sit and enjoy some family favourites!
When you walk through the living room you come to the fully equipped kitchen. The marble countertops provide the perfect base for whipping up a delicious feast. You'll find all the utensils and amenities you may need for home cooking including the basics such as a fridge-freezer, oven and grill with a built-in microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster - the lot! The washer/dryer is also located in the kitchen. If you find yourself in need of a sit down in between the meal prep, you'll find a perfect spot next to the window. Take a look out of here end enjoy the beautiful glimpse of St Ives Harbour.
The door to the ground floor room is in the kitchen. It is then a flight of stairs to the large basement room with a comfortable king-sized bed and en-suite shower room. The interior of this room and en-suite has been beautifully hand finished. One of our favourite features that you'll find in this shower room is the porthole mirror. This is porthole that has been taken from a ship and upcycled into a beautiful bathroom accessory!
The twin bedroom and the second king sized bedroom are on the second floor, one flight of stairs up from the lounge. The newly refurbished king size room offers a light and comfortable space with storage and a TV for those morning you just don't want to leave bed (not sure that really happens in St Ives!). The twin bedroom shares the same St Ives theme as the rest of the house and it has not been overlooked in the refurbishment with new beds, furniture and finishing touches! Penhallow's family bathroom is also located on this floor with both a shower and free-standing bath. The location of this cottage is almost unbeatable. You are situated on one of the oldest parts of St Ives; Mount Zion, meaning you're a matter of moments from the sea and sand as well as the harbour front just being on your doorstep. Fancy a bit of shopping? Fore Street, where a large majority of St Ives' fantastic independent stores are located a very short walk away too. Your closest beach is the St Ives harbour beach, less than a minutes' walk from the front door, perfect for sunbathing on a hot summer's day or strolling along to take in all of the St Ives fishing history on a rainy one!
Caffe Pasta is your closest restaurant to Penhallow and it is often on the top of peoples lists when visiting St Ives. Open for lunch, dinner, cakes and coffees it is great having it on your doorstep and it offers a perfect spot for a family meal or a romantic dinner for two. What is also on your doorstep, is the Mount Zion Coffee Hut. Coffee here is created with love; there is no stop watch on how fast it can be prepared and so you are positively encouraged to stop, take a moment, and savour the anticipation of your morning coffee while looking at St Ives harbour across to the RNLI Lifeboat Station on West Pier.
Penhallow does not come with allocated parking. Your closest car park is The Island Car Park (approximately a 5-minute walk away). This is a Cornwall Council Car Park where you are able to use Just Park to pay. This car park can get very busy so another alternative is using the Rugby Club Car Park. Although further away, there is a shuttle bus taking visitors to and from the car park into the centre of St Ives. You are able to load and unload your car from The Wharf which is just 25m from your front door.

We stayed at Penhallow in St Ives last week, what a lovely cosy , luxurious, clean , cottage it was. just off the harbour tucked away, a few minutes walk to so many restaurants and pubs. We were delighted we found Orange Roofs to book our stay, very friendly and helpfully staff which we have passed your contact details over to our friends.

Lovely house, really well kept and nicely decorated. Steps there a bit awkward checking in and out but not a massive issue. Parking on the harbour is interesting but actually I always founds a space. St ivies itself it just absolutely packed, the main streets full of people almost all the time. Perhaps a sign of the times but it wasn't relaxing to be there at all. When you get on the beach it's great, lovely beaches close by. Highlights were the Tate and also a beach further out for surfing lessons NT Gwithian it was a bit more relaxing. Minak theatre worth booking to look around and the beach nearby too again, more relaxed, and absolutely stunning. We managed to eat out twice and would recommend Porthminster kitchen and the Searooms very highly. Even though it's so busy the people of at Ives were very welcoming. The house is great but I'd skip st Ives for a while.

Discreetly tucked away yet right in the heart of St Ives Harbour, we found Penhallow to be the perfect base for our week long stay. Easily accommodated a family of 5, all mod cons and very tastefully furnished and decorated - we had a fantastic trip. Highly recommend!

Very well positioned in the harbour area. Stylishly comfortable and spotlessly clean.

We stayed at Penhallow for the 2nd week of our Cornwall holiday. The house has a fantastic location, literally a stone's throw from the harbour. Comfort-wise, the house is perfect. We knew that there was going to be some renovation done before we arrived but we didn't realise they would be doing the entire house so it was a lovely surprise! It's a 3 story house that has been renovated and refurnished from top to bottom. New kitchen, new bathroom, new carpets, new furniture and newly decorated. The standard is very high and the furnishings, fixtures and fittings are lovely. The owner has clearly put a lot of effort in and obviously has a keen eye for detail. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, all brand new of course! There are 3 TVs, excellent wi-fi and if Alexa is your thing, then there's two of those as well. All in we had a great time and very much enjoyed staying at Penhallow.

We loved this cottage. We had 4 teenage girls with my husband and I. There was plenty of room. The bedroom on the lower floor has its own on suite which was like a second master. The two other bedrooms on the top floor were lovely as well. The mattresses were very comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of room with seating for 6. It was also fully stocked with kitchenware and glasses. What we loved most about the cottage was the location. We were 50 yards from the beach yet not on the beaten path. We had our own patio to enjoy as well. We will definitely be back!
