Hillcrest is a spacious holiday cottage in Hayle. With wooden floors throughout, it has two reception rooms, a large well-equipped kitchen, four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a wet room to visit straight off the beach, sun-soaked gardens and parking for up to four cars. On the ground floor, you walk into a spacious living area with a wood burner, sofa, leather armchair and a dining table to seat eight comfortably. Through to the next reception room, you have ample sofa seating, a decorative fireplace and a 55'' TV with BluRay DVD, soundbar and PS3 with patio doors that lead out onto a sun trap terrace and tiered gardens. Both reception rooms have views over Copperhouse Pool.
Being a no-through road, the terrace is peaceful and has the best vantage point to enjoy Copperhouse Pool and its tidal changes. A 500-metre walk from the house takes you along Hayle Harbour along North quay to Riviere Towans where you take in the glorious colours of the Hayle Estuary (Heyl (Cornish spelling) actually means estuary!) onto the softest of golden sands that reach 4km all the way to Godrevy Lighthouse and Gwithian's finest surfing beach. A perfect playground for little ones wanting a dabble in shallower shores or for the more adrenaline junkies that crave the surf whether driven by waves or wind; that's what holidays to Hayle are all about after all!
Within Hillcrest's kitchen, cooking for a large family should be a breeze on the eight-ring gas range and a double oven and a full-sized dishwasher means clearing up is also made simple. There is plenty of preparation space on a super sterile stainless steel topped surface and a large fridge and freezer can cope with a family shop with enough larder space for keeping those Cornish Ales at perfect room temperature! Equipped for families with young children, as well as a high chair, stair gate and travel cot the owners have also thoughtfully provided a mini chopper/ blender, steriliser, children's plates and cutlery as well as a child loo seat. There is a back door from the kitchen that leads out to the terrace and onto the tiered gardens. Here you will also find the detached wet room, perfect for rinsing off sandy bodies (canine or human!) before going indoors, which also doubles up as a utility area with a sink, worktop and Bosch washing machine.
On the first floor, you will find all the bedrooms and bathrooms starting with the master bedroom and en-suite shower room. There is a king-size bed in the master bedroom and windows (with privacy blinds) that face onto the rear gardens, Veluxes offer beautiful streaming light when desired but have remote-controlled black-out blinds for total relaxation at night time. There are two twin bedrooms again with black-out blinds; the front-facing twin room enjoys gorgeous pool views. Finally, there is a double bedroom with a 4'6'' bed and fabulous views. There are two further bathrooms; one has a bath with a shower over and the other a large walk-in shower, both are modern and have stylish tall radiators perfect for creating toasty towels!
Hillcrest's private and enclosed gardens are drenched in sunshine all day long from the lower terrace where lunch can be had on a picnic bench or if you want to dine in the evening alfresco, there is a large BBQ provided and also more seating on a higher tier capturing the evening sunshine. Please be aware that there are steps between the different levels of the garden so small children would need to be mindfully watched! There is also a bench right at the front of the house across the peaceful street designed to take in the views of Copperhouse Pool and the Estuary. This home is perfect for families or friends sharing, it's equally fabulous for couples or smaller parties wanting that little extra luxury ( a discount may apply for parties of four or fewer).
One well-behaved and well-mannered dog is very welcome at Hillcrest, all we ask is that you let us know the age and breed of your dog (even their name so we can make friends with them too!). We also ask you to travel with their crate (if they are used to one) and dog bed and towels so they make themselves at home just as much as you. Remember they aren't allowed upstairs or on furniture in their holiday home even if they're allowed at home! If you have two dogs, feel free to enquire and we can check in with the owners to see if they are happy to accept them at the time you would like your holiday.
Here's a bit of history for you; the terrace where Hillcrest
resides is one of the most prestigious terraces in Hayle, it was
named following the first working locomotive 'Cornubia' which was
designed and built in Cornwall and was made specifically for the
newly completed Hayle railway line in 1838. With its most famous
links with the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Clifton Terrace at
Riviere Cliff, overlooking Copperhouse Pool, was eventually
To recap, staying at the wonderful self-catering holiday cottage in Hayle called Hillcrest will mean ample parking, outside garden space, close to beaches and a 5-minute walk into Hayle. It is dog-friendly and is great for families sharing or couples wanting the luxury of extra space. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a wet room in a separate building. There are views across to Copperhouse Pool from the front of the house.

We booked this beautiful home at short notice for a short
stay - sadly a family funeral to attend- Hillcrest gave us all a
haven of peace. So near to the beach and walks to Godrevy, great
location with easy access to Hayle- we were here when the Lantern
parade set off and Christmas lights turned on.
Hillcrest was warm and cosy, clean and well provisioned.

Lovely house and in an amazing location, lots of beach walks on hand and further afield. Everything you need is on the doorstep. Very clean and comfortable house , we had a 3 month old baby and two dogs in our party.

We spent a fabulous week in Hayle and this was made better
thanks to the terrific customer service provided by Orange Roofs.
The property itself was wonderful and in the ideal position. The
description on the web site is 100% accurate and there were no
surprises when we arrived!
Having 2 babies with us, it was great that Orange Roofs were really flexible in arranging for us to enter the property slightly earlier than we expected and this was an added bonus as we could then relax whilst 'feeding time' took place.
As previously mentioned, the property was as described albeit the inclusion of a tumble dryer could have been a welcome addition to the equipment list but having said that, we were blessed with unseasonably great weather and were able to dry clothes outside.
The parking at the front of the property is perfectly adequate for 4 vehicles and the view from here was great - another lovely vantage point to see the estuary.
All in all, we had a wonderful time with memories that will stay with us for a long time. Orange Roofs were superb throughout the whole experience, so much so that we are seriously considering returning again next year.

What a lovely property, conveniently located a short walk away from Hayle Beach and a short drive/train journey from St. Ives, Carbis Bay and a variety of other beautiful Cornish beaches, walks and activities. The house was spacious and perfect for our big family holiday - just what we needed! Thank you!

We were two family's, Hilcrest was a great location, great parking and the house was fantastic for all of our needs. You do need to be careful with children as the garden is on differnt levels. Billie was so helpful when booking and took care of us by responding to any questions we had. We had a query on the day of arrival but orange roofs responded so quickly even out of hours. We look forward to booking again through orange roofs.

We recently stopped at Hayle in Hillcrest House, the house is massive with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location of the house is spot on , next to 4 miles of sandy beech along with many local eateries. OrangeRoofs themselves were brilliant, they were always helpful and went over and above to resolve the minor issues we had , I would def use them again All round excellent place and company to deal with

We stayed at Hillcrest last year so booked again for this year with our 3 adult children and their partners. and the dog. It's a spacious house with room for all!!! Great location for exploring Cornwall or just sitting on the beach in Hayle. Secure garden for the dog!!! Booking was simple and efficient. App gives all info needed. Garden furniture could do with an upgrade and we could have done with an extra rubbish bin but apart from that it's perfect!!

Hillcrest is a home from home experience offering all that's needed for the perfect holiday. The owners have provided good quality furnishings and kitchen appliances, bed linen and bathroom towels. All amenities are within easy walking distance from the property also the beach and the towans.

We stayed at Hillcrest which was a superb cottage in Hayle, and everything that we needed for our holiday. All the family including the dog thoroughly enjoyed there stay there. There is a great beach with a ten minute walk, and some very nice eating places within walking distance. It is a good location to get to many places around Cornwall. I would recommend this to both family and friends, and anyone who needs a place to stay on holiday. Orange Roofs are very good and most helpful when booking and during your you vacation. The house was ideal for our needs. The back garden was great for Fred the dog as well as it was enclosed. Only improvement would be the addition of a tumble dryer.

This is our second visit & find the accommodation ticks all the boxes for us. Well equipped kitchen, outside utility very handy especially when returning from surfing. Love the two seating areas, lovely when you want a quiet read & others want to watch TV. Log burner makes the whole house cosy and especially as we visit at end of October. Having 4 toilets an added bonus. Always spotlessly clean on arrival. What more can I say except hope to come again next year.

We arrived to a spotless beautiful house and started our holiday straightaway! There were 7 people in our party and the house worked perfectly for us with plenty of bedroom space....3 immaculate modern bathrooms and lots of room in the spacious kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The terraced garden worked perfectly for us and we had a few barbecues. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. The house has amazing views across the estuary and we were really pleased with the location. Hayle itself has lots to offer with a beautiful Sandy beach, restaurants, bars, train links, buses and taxis to the amazing St Ives. We just had the best time Thankyou!!!

Loved this house. Spotless on arrival. Smelt and looked fresh. Everything we needed. Fully equipped kitchen etc ... massive TV and very very comfy beds Wonderful beach on the doorstep Amazing garden to relax in . Perfect for 7 adults and a dog!!!

This was our first time renting through OrangeRoofs and it was a very positive experience. The OrangeRoofs app makes finding information easy. Everything was a click away. Pros: House was very clean. Hardwood floors throughout the entire house! No grimy carpets here! large, plush bath towels comfy beds with extra pillows All rooms are bright and well appointed Bathrooms are all newly remodeled Short walk to the beach and into the town of Hayle Short drive into St Ives. Large dining table perfect for large group Separate reception area was great for the kids to watch TV while the adults relaxed with dinner Large garden with grass, seating area and bbq Cons: The cookware can use an update - the nonstick pans are no longer non stick No dryer (clearly stated in listing) but there is certainly space for a dryer to be installed All in all we would rent this house again and would recommend it to others.

Great holiday from the start with easy booking through Orange roofs, plenty of useful information and excellent adherence to the covid rules. Hillcrest is a wonderful large property, attractive inside as well as out. Great position overlooking the estuary right next to the north quay. Easy parking, but close to all amenities, just a short walk to a beach, pubs, takeaways etc.Hillcrest is very well equipped, great range for cooking on the nights you stay in. Enormous dining / lounge room with loads of space for little ones to play. Plus large,comfy, tv lounge. Excellent quality dishwasher and washer with outside shower and toilet. The only thing missing was a drier, a must for out of season.
