About Plane Sailing
Plane Sailing is your quintessentially Cornish cottage. Tucked away on Virgin Street, you are surrounded by St Ives’ old cobbled streets and just moments from the harbour, beaches, shops, restaurants, you name it! These are just some of the many perks of being in the heart of Downalong.
Plane Sailing can sleep four guests, with a double and twin bedroom. It has one bathroom and an allocated parking space for you at the St Ives Rugby Club. Plane sailing is also pet friendly; able to accept one small to medium dog. When approaching the property, you’ll feel swept up in the history of St Ives. As you take the short set of granite steps to the front door, you’re greeted by a sweet porthole front door and then straight into the open plan kitchen, living room, and dining area.
The kitchen is neat and built for purpose, giving you all
you need for four guests whilst in your self-catering cottage in St
Ives. Whether it's fresh croissants from around the corner, or
making some freshly caught seafood, you'll be able to whip up a
perfect storm! The kitchen has all the integrated appliances needed
to make you feel at home. This includes a washer/dryer machine,
dishwasher, compact refrigerator with a neat built in freezer
section in the top, oven/grill, hob, microwave and kettle. If you
don't fancy taking the very short stroll to get a freshly made
coffee from one of the many cafes around you, there is a cafetière
for you to brew a fresh pot of coffee in the morning! The lounge
and dining room offers comfortable and cosy seating for four. The
living room has a Smart TV, perfect for after those long days at
the beach. There is also a round dining table for you to sit and
enjoy your meals at.
Upstairs is where you'll find your bathroom and two bedrooms
located, but not before you pass the beautiful stain glass window
that oozes colour into the hallway and boasts a stream of natural
light. The bathroom is spacious with a separate bath and
shower.
Down the corridor you have your two bedrooms. The twin bedroom has
two single beds and is another area of the house where natural
light fills the room. There is a TV, chest of drawers
for storing your clothes as well as another storage cupboard. In
here you'll find some beach supplies, including two camp chairs and
a wind break, perfect to protect you from the Cornish breeze!
Opposite you is the double bedroom. This room overlooks the Digey
from one direction and St Ives bakery from another. The natural
light lifts the room plus an added luxury is that, from this room,
you are able to look over the rooftops and spy some beautiful
glances of the sea and the St Ives bay.
If you're familiar with St Ives, you'll know that Virgin Street is
one of the oldest parts of the town in Downalong. Plane sailing
in-fact overlooks St Ives' infamous 'green door', a door that has
stood on Virgin Street for well over two hundred years old. You are
also just a stone's throw from another much-loved landmark in the
town, 'St Ives Bakery'! How better to start your day than waking up
and fetching freshly baked bread and pastries in the morning, a
homemade Cornish pasty for lunch and freshly baked scones for an
afternoon cream tea!? If you don'tfeel like cooking in
your self-catering accommodation, you are just a
few steps from 'Source Kitchen' another favourite in St Ives. This
deli and kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, maximising all
the local produce available in Cornwall. You can also pick up some
of your own delicious supplies from their deli section.
Not only do you have a plethora of cafes, bakeries and shops on
your doorsteps, you are no more than a few minutes from St Ives'
white sand beaches. The harbour front and beach is just a short
walk away and here you'll find even more bars and restaurants to
explore. Or, if you fancy a spot of surfing, the Blue Flag awarded
Porthmeor Beach is just around the corner. Porthmeor is
host to two favourite restaurants in town, 'Porthmeor Beach Café'
and its sister restaurant 'Porthmeor West' as well as a takeaway,
public toilets and public bins. All you need for a day at the
beach!
As noted, Plane Sailing has an allocated
parking space for you to use at the St Ives Rugby Club,
approximately a 20 minute walk away from the property. In the peak
weeks in St Ives, there is a shuttle bus that runs
from in front of the Tate to your parking space every 30 minutes
and costs around £1.50. We appreciate it may be slightly more
of a walk than a public car park but the owners kindly wish to
provide a guaranteed and free parking space for their guests during
their stay.

Plane Ceiling is the perfect cosy cottage in a great location. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided and the arrival package of biscuits, cake, tea etc was really welcome! We would highly recommend a stay here due to the location - just steps from harbour beach and the main shopping street. Orange Roofs are also very effective to deal with. Great communication.

We have just returned from a week at Plane Sailing, this is my first time using Orange Roofs having used other companies for our twice a year holidays to St Ives, they have been fantastic. Very impressed with every step of the process. The cottage is well appointed in a great location, beautiful decor & very quiet despite being in the centre of St Ives. I highly recommend this cottage & Orange Roofs

We absolutely loved Plane Sailing! The cottage is beautifully kitted out, with thought given for our every need, comfortable and welcoming. Wonderful to be in the heart of St Ives, yet tucked away off the main street, bakery just a few steps from the front door(!), and all less than two minutes from the harbour. The rooms are full of sunshine and there's even a sea view in one of the bedrooms! Real character throughout, and with a superbly equipped bathroom and comfortable furniture downstairs. We were also impressed with how easy it was to access any information we needed on the Orange Roofs app. A massive thank you to the team! We have loved our stay and hope to return one day in the future

Wonderful stay in St Ives. There was a problem on day 1 with building noise, but the team at Orange moved swiftly & seamlessly to arrange a move to Plane Sailing. Friendly, professional service. Can't recommend the team highly enough.

Beautiful accommodation very well decorated , perfect location. The property was clean and tidy. Orange roofs kept in contact with us, also txt to allow early access to the property which was fantastic after a long journey. There was a welcome pack waiting with cakes, eggs, butter and milk which was very thoughtful. I would highly recommend a property from Orange Roofs and will certainly book with them for our next St.Ives trip. Thank you.

A wonderfully located cottage in the centre of the historic part of the town. Close to the beaches and the harbour, the cottage had everything you would need for your stay.
