About Harbour Beach Cottage

This ‘practically on the beach’ holiday cottage in St Ives is perfect for families or couples at any time of the year. What to consider when planning St Ives holidays at this cottage? It is just 20 metres from St Ives Harbour beach and hence its name Harbour Beach Cottage. This delightful once traditional fisherman's cottage in St Ives used to be something quite different when fishing was far more a way of life in St Ives but now it is finished to a high standard so discerning guests feel its comfort and immediate welcome tenfold. It has three bedrooms, a family bathroom and a cloakroom with WC. The added bonus to Harbour Beach Cottage is the allocated large parking space a casual 18-minute stroll from the house (a god-send when public car parks are all full). There is a bus service during peak weeks that regularly collects and drops off in front of The Tate Gallery which is just a few minutes' walk from the house.

Harbour Beach Cottage has splendid sea and harbour views from the living room and two double bedrooms so whether rain or shine, it's a perfect place to people watch either tucked up warm and dry or join in with beach fun when the sun shines. Being set back on Mount Zion facing the harbour, you really do get the best of both worlds; within minutes of the bustling, cobbled Wharf front and Fore Street yet not over-looked or in the path of curious strollers. You can be at your nearest pub, The Sloop Inn, in the same time it takes to pull a pint or be spoilt for choice for restaurants, delis, ice-cream parlours, clothes stores, artist galleries and walks taking in the riches of St Ives; you really are in the heart of it all.

Furnished for comfort and to instil a sense of complete ease and relaxation as soon as you walk in through the front door, this cottage is loved by its owners where plentiful family fun is had and they want nothing more than for you to feel a real sense of home from home as soon as you arrive for your holiday. Enjoy the convivial feel of the first-floor open plan living and dining area (the table doubles up as a fabulous place to do jigsaws or scope out budding artists!) where you have beautiful views over the harbour sand and bobbing boats to the Lifeboat station and Church beyond. The kitchen, on the ground floor, is meant to be used for home-cooking and dining in with a gas hob, electric oven, and dishwasher as well as keeping on top of the laundry (if needs be) with a washing machine and separate tumble dryer. The bathroom, also on the ground floor, is modern and warm with a p-shaped bath with a screen, shower over, WC and wash basin. On the second floor is the single bedroom (which also has a truckle single pull-out bed to convert into a small twin room), double bedroom with the sea views and a separate WC and wash basin. Then, on the top (third) floor is the WOW second double bedroom with far-reaching sea views over the harbour on one side and over the Island and of the Chapel on the other side.

With two St Ives beaches being listed in the UK Top Ten, there is no doubt at all why it is such a gorgeous place to come and visit. You are just a pebble's throw from the harbour beach, a few minutes' walk from Porthmeor beach and a five-minute stroll from Porthminster beach, so why not discover for yourself why they result high in beach league tables.

The cottage is dog-friendly and accepts one impeccably-mannered dog who understands it's not allowed to go on furniture, scratch doors or floors or go upstairs! Being so close to the beach, morning walkies are within moments of leaving the front door so could be done in PJs!

Please note, that the parking space for Harbour Beach Cottage is at St Ives Rugby Club. This is approximately an 18-minute uphill walk away from the property. The walk may feel a big uphill for those not used to hills. We appreciate it may be slightly more of a walk than a public car park but the owners kindly wish to provide a guaranteed and free parking space for their guests during their stay. During the school holiday weeks, there is a shuttle bus that runs from in front of the Tate to your parking space every half hour and costs around £1.50.

To re-cap, Harbour Beach Cottage does what it says on the tin, it is a St Ives holiday cottage located within metres of St Ives Harbour beach. It has three bedrooms; two double bedrooms (both with sea views) and a single bedroom (which can be made into a small twin bedroom with the use of a 3ft truckle bed). It has a family bathroom on the ground floor and an extra WC on the second floor. It has parking for one car at St Ives Rugby Club. The nearest long-stay public car park is on The Island. It is pet-friendly and will accept one very well-behaved dog.

We had a marvellous time, and it's a cracking house for an out of season stay: very handy for town and cracking views with ever changing light.
But take note of how far away the car parking is... and how steep/ narrow the stairs are.
The Orange Roof people were really impressive...

We returned to the harbour beach cottage to find it had been updated to a very high standard. The location is perfect in every way for bars, beaches and walks. We take our dogs and are made to feel welcome every time. We look to book the harbour beach for our yearly get away year on year. I have stayed in other houses in st Ives but this will always be our first choice. As for the team at Orange roofs I can't praise the team enough, the whole experience continues to excel year on year.

We had a wunderful holiday at St.Ives. The cottage is only 25 m away from The harbour. There is all stuff needed in a lovely decorated house. I think we will rent it again.

Great location and well equipped house. Fantastic communication with Orange Roofs especially when we asked for an airer (which the house did not have) and one arrived the following day. As we were staying two weeks was offered a change of bedding and towels half way through which was much appreciated. Obviously being a house on four levels there are a lot of stairs but the house has enough space for all. Sofa in the lounge could do with being updated. As the house came with parking this was a real bonus but it is quiet a hike back to the parking if the buses are not running.

Harbour Beach is a town house right on the harbour front at St Ives. Couldn't be a better location, watching the tide go in and out from the sitting room is the ultimate chill. Plenty of space for surf boards and everything you need considered in the chic kitchen and living spaces. We'll certainly be back!

The property has been finished to a really high standard, we were impressed with the quality of all the fixtures and fittings in every room., and the view of the harbour from nearly every room is something else. We were going to eat out every night but ended up staying in a couple of nights because of how comfortable the living room was and the views. The amount of light that comes into the property is also impressive, you can see its been renovated with that in mind.

We are frequent visitors to St Ives often coming multiple times a year, it was our first time using Orange Roofs and I can honestly say the whole experience was fantastic. Sam kept us updated all through the booking process, check in and check out. The app they use is a real game changer everything you need to know in one app. Our original choice was fully booked, however Sam recommended Harbour Beach Cottage and it was a great place to stay, the accommodation was ideally located and kept in really good condition, it had everything we needed and we will definitely look to rebook. We highly recommend Orange Roofs and we will use them as our preferred choice for next years visits.

Having holidayed in St Ives for 20 years and comparing all the accommodation we have ever stayed in, Harbour Beach has to be up there with the best. The views of the harbour are great and it was excellent to sit (especially on a stormy day) watching the waves roll in. As well as the views, the location is brilliant. Caffe pasta is literally on the doorstep along with all the great eateries and restaurants that St Ives has to offer. The only issue that we found with the property are the stairs because we have a little sausage dog who has back issues and needed to be picked up over 3 flights of stairs. Also, the parking space is quite a walk uphill to the rugby club but we managed most days and the times where we weren't feeling too energetic got a taxi. Overall though, despite the stairs and parking we wouldn't hesitate to book the same cottage again. Orange Roofs were great and the app is fantastic making all the necessary information readily available at all times. Thank you for a lovely week away, just what 2020 needed.

Excellent service provided by Orange Roofs from the time of booking to the day we left. Lots of helpful information ahead of our stay. The accommodation was ready ahead of time and was clean, tidy and provided an excellent base for our holiday. We would recommend and have no hesitation in using again.

The cottage couldn't be in a better position. You open the curtains and look straight out onto the beach. It's a 2-minute walk from the centre of the town, so you're right in the heart of things. There are a lot of steep stairs, so you need to be fairly fit to stay here! The décor is very well done and there are some lovely 'seaside' touches, such as a pair of oars hanging on the lounge wall. The designated parking spot is a 10-15 minute walk from the property and it's not very big. My car wouldn't fit in it and my brother's car only just fit, so you may have to look at paying for parking in one of the local car parks. We had a great week and would definitely stay there again.

Best features - harbour views, closeness to eating places and 'action', easy access to beaches. Also very well equipped and decorated plus spotless. Great to have a parking space included. The several end-of-season repairs that were needed (September booking) were not crucial. We had one important problem which was solved as soon as possible. Final point - the stairs between the 4 stories are steep and narrow - tough if you have older achy knees - but the amazing views more than make up for this.

The house was spotless. It was lovely to have coffee tea, milk and wine when we arrived. Being ever so slightly back from the road meant you didn't have walking passed the door, but steps from the harbour and the beach. The only bad thing to say about the house is that the shower isn't great, but it was adequate.. All in all, a great place to stay.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic week staying at Harbour Beach Cottage. The house is in the best spot possible for access to the town and the views are amazing. We had a rainy week but being able to sit and watch the harbour goings on was lovely. The house has everything you could ask for and plenty of space. Thanks for having us!

Couldn't ask for a nicer location right on the sea front but set back a little. The cottage was a little tired though and we were frustrated with poor kitchen equipment, broken lock on front door, leaking shower head and few other items. Such a great place let down a little but lack of attention to this kind of detail.

My partner, myself and our dog visit st ives every year and we like to stay in a different place each time. This year we were searching Around and found A place through orange roofs. Unfortunately it was already booked but within 24 hours orange roofs had given us plenty of options for places they thought we'd like. We chose harbour beach cottage and we couldn't have been happier- in fact we want to book exactly the same place next year! The house was spotlessly clean with a real contemporary but homely feel. We were surprised that such a large house managed to feel so quaint and cosy at the same time. We even arrived to a lovely gift from them! Both of us (and the dog) would highly recommend both orange roofs and harbour beach; we couldn't have asked for a better location. It was within a couple of minutes walk to 3 beaches, but when we wanted to have a relax in the evening the house was peaceful and private. 5/5 for both accommodation and orange roofs- we couldn't have been more pleased!

Just driving home (sadly) from a very special week arc Harbour Cottage. We chose it for its amazing location (harbour view, 1 min from takeaway coffee/ ice cream/ restaurants, 5 mins walk from Porthmeor beach ) , view and the homely look (from the photos) and we weren't disappointed. Finding a holiday, and accommodation, that suits the needs of our teenage boys and 11 yr old daughter isn't always easy but we feel we have now found the perfect solution. The teenagers could lie in while the adults enjoyed a morning cuppa with our books on the harbourside within sight for the 11 yr old having a lazy start with some tv. We could set up base on Portmeor beach (hiring wind breaks, in addition to the one kindly left in the porch of the property, to make a cosy windproof shelter ) and everyone could come and go as they pleased - only 5 mins to pop back for that forgotten book. Shopping, bars, surf, sand, restaurants- there was always something to keep everyone happy. As my husband and eldest son are both over 6 ft 4" they found the main entrance into the kitchen a bit of a challenge, but we then used the outdoor steps to the first floor and door that goes through the porch to the lounge- perfect to keep all the beach gear in having washed feet off at the very handy tap outside the kitchen door. We all loved the view from the lounge and the large coffee table was perfect for board games on the one wet day we had. The wifi got the thumbs up from the teens but we liked that their bedrooms didn't have TVs so that we had family evenings watching a film - pausing it to pop out for the most delicious ice cream for supper. The hot water supply kept up with 5 people returning from the beach and wanting showers. At the great advice from the emails from Orange Roofs we parked our car at the leisure centre after dropping our bags off, and didn't use it all week (we paid by App for a week's parking). Everything we needed was within an easy walking distance. By day 2 the children were already asking to return again-as my eldest heads off to uni I can see this becoming an annual tradition to regroup as a family for many years to come.
