About Hillcrest

Here's a bit of history to start you off; the terrace where Hillcrest resides is one of the most prestigious terraces in Hayle, it was named following the first working locomotive 'Cornubia' which was designed and built in Cornwall and was made specifically for the newly completed Hayle railway line in 1838. With its most famous links with the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Clifton Terrace at Riviere Cliff, overlooking Copperhouse Pool, was eventually named.

Being a no through road, the terrace is peaceful and has the best vantage point to enjoy Copperhouse Pool and its tidal changes. A 500 metre walk from the house takes you past the sleepy harbour along North quay to Riviere Towans where you take in the glorious colours of the Hayle Estuary (Heyl (Cornish spelling) actually means estuary!) onto the softest of golden sands that reach 4km all the way to Godrevy Lighthouse and Gwithian's finest surfing beach. A perfect playground for little ones wanting a dabble in shallower shores or for the more adrenaline junkies that crave the surf whether driven by waves or wind. 

Hillcrest is quite maginificent, inside and out. With wooden floors throughout, it has two reception rooms, a large well-equipped kitchen, four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a wet room to visit straight off the beach, sun-soaked gardens and parking for up to four cars. On the ground floor, you walk into a spacious living area with wood burner, sofa, leather armchair, dining table to seat eight comfortably, and storage full of games and books. Through to the next reception room, you have ample sofa seating, a decorative fire place and a 55'' TV with BluRay DVD, sound bar and PS3 with patio doors that lead out onto a sun trap terrace and tiered gardens. Both reception rooms have views over Copperhouse Pool.

Now to the kitchen, cooking for a large family should be a breeze on the eight ring gas range and double oven and a full-sized dishwasher means clearing up is also made simple. There is plenty of preparation space on a super sterile stainless steel topped surface and a large fridge and freezer can cope with a family shop with enough larder space for keeping those Cornish Ales at perfect room temperature! Equipped for families with young children, as well as a high chair, stair gate and travel cot the owners have also thoughtfully provided a mini chopper/ blender, steriliser, childrens' plates and cutlery as well as child loo seat. There is a back door from the kitchen that leads out to the terrace and onto the tiered gardens. Here you will also find the detached wet room, perfect for rinsing off sandy bodies before going indoors, which also doubles up as a utility area with sink, worktop and Bosch washing machine. 

On the first floor, you will find all the bedrooms and bathrooms starting with the master bedroom and en-suite shower room. There is a king size bed in the master bedroom and windows (with privacy blinds) that face onto the rear gardens, veluxes offer beautiful streaming light when desired but have remote controlled black out blinds for total relaxation at night time. There are two twin bedrooms again with black out blinds; the front facing twin room enjoys the gorgeous pool views. Finally there is a double bedroom with 4'6'' bed and fabulous views. There are two further brand new bathrooms; one has a bath with shower over and the other a large walk in shower, both are modern and have stylish tall radiators perfect for creating toasty towels!

Hillcrest's private and enclosed gardens are drenched in sunshine all day long from the lower terrace where lunch can be had at a picnic bench or, if you want to dine in the evening alfresco, there is a large BBQ provided and also more seating on a higher tier capturing the evening sunshine. Please be aware that there are steps between the different levels of the garden so small children would need to be mindfully watched! There is also a bench right at the front of the house across the peaceful street designed to take in the views of Copperhouse Pool and the Estaury. This home is perfect for families or friends sharing, it's equally fabulous for couples or smaller parties wanting that little extra luxury ( a discount may apply for parties of four or fewer). Hillcrest accepts one well-behaved family dog where house rules apply!

Great holiday from the start with easy booking through Orange roofs, plenty of useful information and excellent adherence to the covid rules. Hillcrest is a wonderful large property, attractive inside as well as out. Great position overlooking the estuary right next to the north quay. Easy parking, but close to all amenities, just a short walk to a beach, pubs, takeaways etc.Hillcrest is very well equipped, great range for cooking on the nights you stay in. Enormous dining / lounge room with loads of space for little ones to play. Plus large,comfy, tv lounge. Excellent quality dishwasher and washer with outside shower and toilet. The only thing missing was a drier, a must for out of season.

The booking process was pretty straightforward, lots of information was provided on the property and local area. We loved it here, beautiful views of the estuary and a real home from home. Clean, spacious and well equipped for a family. Can't wait to visit and stay again when the weather is better to make the most of the garden and bbq. Hillcrest is just epic! Beautiful condition, lovely and tidy, the house was perfect for the 8 of us inc 4 kids!! Room for everyone, including the front room where the kids can watch tv and the growns up can talk in the other room! Just perfect. We’ll defo be back, and the welcome scones were just a lovely touch. Thank you Orange Roofs and your cleaning team that helped us out with the extra linen we needed!

Our return visit to Hillcrest proved to be just as enjoyable as before. The house has a warm, relaxing ambience along with superb views over Copperhouse Pool and Hayle town. Excellent parking facilities for 4 vehicles. This holiday home is within reach of all Cornwall highlights whilst remaining a peaceful retreat. The immaculate standards have been maintained and improvements carried out. All in all, I heartily recommend staying here.

We had a lovely 8 days in Hillcrest. Fabulous house - with all mod cons and some lovely small touches including plenty of storage and coat-hangers, quality appliances and fittings and not a thing we could think of that was not available (maybe Sky but it was lovely to get away from that)! Fantastic location with less than 10 mins walk to shops including pasties and less than 10 mins to the most amazing beaches. Great helpful communication before our stay too. Highly recommend. Stairs may be a little tricky for older/less mobile folk.

We booked Hillcrest House in Hayle for one week & wished we’d booked it for longer. The house is very accommodating for eight adults, the open plan living area is fantastic for socialising, the kitchen is fully equipped for all types of cooking, the four bedrooms have plenty of room & the bathrooms are large & stylish. We also used the garden quite a bit as it was a sun trap in the morning & afternoon. We thought Hayle was a great location for walks & the beach on your doorstep & the bus service into St Ives was only 15 mins. We enjoyed fish & chips from Sanders which were delicious & the Italian restaurant Antioninis was exceptional. The fact that you could park up to four cars at the property really appealed to us as our family were all travelling separately from us, so this was a real bonus. All the family agreed that we would love to return to Hillcest for another holiday.

Fantastic house! Very well thought out space, great for a big family or two groups. We were a family gathering of 7 celebrating an 80th birthday! We knew Hayle very well as my sister lives here, this was perfect for us to have a memorable long weekend all together!The house itself is immaculate and has everything you need, beds are all lovely and comfy and the bathrooms are brilliantly laid out. Great to have so much living space downstairs so we could all be in the house but not on top of each other, the only downside is that we didn't have longer! We would love to return, so glad to have found it. Thank you Orange Roofs too for being such an excellent company to deal with.
