About Lantern Loft

Please note, in light of the COVID-19 virus, we want to reassure you that this St Ives self-catering property has an extremely thorough clean plus disinfection of hard surfaces and soft furnishings after each guest stay. Lantern Loft is perfectly placed to take in the most breath-taking views over St Ives harbour towards Smeaton's Pier and Godrevy Lighthouse as well as being right in the heart of St Ives. In the summer you can expect turquoise, calm seas; close enough for a morning dip before breakfast. With the tide out, the golden sand beach stretches from Lambeth Walk, directly outside the cottage, around Smeaton's Pier to Bamaluz beach which is great if coming with your four-legged friend as it is dog-friendly all year round. Porthminster beach is just a few minutes' stroll away with its calm, sheltered bathing area and well-known Porthminster beach cafe with quite exceptional food, drink and views to soak up at the same time. St Ives Fore Street is also just 100m from your front door so you have a great selection of shops from a well-stocked bookstore, jewellers, independent clothing to SeaSalt, Joules or Crew Clothing, fine dining to traditional Cornish pubs and of course bakeries selling delicious pasties and Cornish saffron buns. Convenience stores are also a few minutes away from Lantern Loft so you really want for nothing when on holiday here. Winter breaks are equally thrilling, with excited, wind swept seas, take your front row seats for spectacular views whilst tucked up in the warmth that Lantern Loft exudes.

You enter Lantern Loft from the street into the kitchen which is well-equipped whether you are a couple or family staying. It has a washer/ dryer, fridge and freezer as well as oven and hob and a good amount of food preparation and cupboard space. A few steps lead up into the living room where the views simply captivate you. There is a chaise longue style sofa so it's easy to spend lazy days watching the world go by and enjoying the changing seascape. Just off the living room is a step up into the dining area with table and four chairs and wall to wall shelves housing games, books and binoculars. The living room has enough soft chairs for four people to fully relax into around a TV/ DVD with SKY channels to enjoy. Wooden stairs lead up from the kitchen to the master bedroom which has a king size bed and en-suite WC with wash basin. Also off the kitchen are steps down to the twin bedroom and family bathroom. The bathroom has a bath and separate large shower as well as Saniflow toilet and wash basin. The twin room has the flexibility to be made into a king size bed also if two couples are staying.

Whether arriving by train or car, St Ives train station with its 106 car parking spaces is a few minutes' walk away from the cottage or, if you prefer parking somewhere with more spaces, you can pull up within 20m of the cottage to unload and then head to either the leisure centre or St Ives Rugby Club where regular buses transport you back to your car when a day trip is calling.

We stayed here in October half term last year and it was perfect in every way,the views are breathtaking and we had great fun watching people getting wet just outside the window! We have booked again for this October and can't wait.We stay twice a year in St.Ives and this is the best holiday home we have stayed in,just fabulous!

This was our second time staying in Lantern Loft and it didn't disappoint. Location and views really are fantastic and there is everything you need inside the cottage. Cannot fault anything and will definitely be staying again. Cottage is immaculate and Orange Roofs cannot be more helpful from start to finish

Lantern Loft is just stunning. The view from the living room was breath taking, I could have stayed there all day! Nice to have an elevated dining room area, it felt really cosy. The kitchen was a bit dark but had plenty of lights to make it brighter and was a good size. The only thing that could be improved was a dishwasher which I missed. Both bedrooms were lovely, the upstairs room was a delight, the bed was comfy and it was so nicely clean and cosy. I would definitely stay here again, it was a really good position for town and the beaches and the train station.

We had a wonderful break despite the poor weather. The cottage is, as described, gorgeous to look at, well situated and offers the most stunning views. Rainbows across the bay, fabulous seascapes, light aquamarine waters and the dog friendly beach below us were highlights of our stay. This was our first time in St. Ives and we were delighted with it. Indeed, so impressed were we with everything, that we booked Lantern Loft again for next year, two days before we left.

We had a great time in Lantern Loft. The location is perfect. Just steps away from the harbour and the town. The facilities in the cottage are good and we were all very comfortable. The steps would make it unsuitable for very young children but for couples it’s perfect. The view from the window was like looking at an ever changing picture. Definitely book again!

There is nothing to fault about Lantern Loft.. The location is perfect and the views from the lounge window are amazing. Excellent accommodation all round, spotlessly clean and had everything in there we needed. We shall be back for another visit.

Fantastic cottage with unbeatable location. The view from the lounge out to sea and around the bay really was far better than we expected. The cottage is very well equipped and more spacious that expected too. The decor is lovely and comfortable bed. The shower in the main bathroom was fab! Loved it so much we’ve rebooked for next year.

Views to die for; waves crashing over the walkway; seals within meters of the window. Perfectly located for everything in St Ives. Comfy beds and all amenities necessary for a perfect weekend. Highly recommend it. Sam form Orange Roofs was a delight to correspond with.

Location is perfect, right on the harbour. As the tide comes in it sprays a plume of water along the beach-a personal water show! The view from the front windows is of the breakwater pier and boats and of course the ocean..The beaches are vast and beautiful, and there are forested pathways above them to be explored too. A delightful village with windy cobblestone roads and fascinating shops as well as unique, delicious dining experiences! Would love to return one day!

The unit is ideal for a couple and in the heart of St Ives looking out on to the harbour. The kitchen, bedrooms, living room and bathroom work well. It is very close to both bus and train station. The only problems we encountered were the cumbersome TV set up and the difficulty opening the dryer.

Cutest cottage in best position in town - absolutely loved it

Jun 30 2018

Cottage is close to everything you need lovely veiws if only their wasnt so many people passing by. Basement bedroom smelt of damp and i wouldnt have used this room if had children with me.The damp smell went all through the cottage. Orange roofs are very helpful and did advise of the issue on our way down to st ives..we would have liked more notice so we could have changed the cottage if possible. They did compensate £100 for this issue. St Ives is lovely but very very busy we would come again but choose a quieter part of town. I would use Orange Roofs again. **MANAGEMENT COMMENT: Thank you for your review Kerry and I am pleased you had such gorgeous weather while you stayed at Lantern Loft. We had a call from the property maintenance/ housekeeping firm that are employed by the owners to look after Lantern Loft on the day of your arrival, they wanted to notify us that the due to that room's radiator switch being turned off, the door shut and no ventilation to the room it had exacerbated the damp situation that the cottage can be prone too being so close to the seafront. We would have called you much sooner if we had known but sadly it was only reported on the changeover. The owners are fully aware of the challenges they face with that bedroom being below street level and being so close to the sea and have carried out remedial work such as tanking already with the next steps being a highly efficient extraction fan system. Until then, the room needs constant ventilation, the radiator left on at 18 degrees and, when required, a dehumidifier. We are grateful for your feedback and are very happy to help you find a more peaceful spot next time.

We’ve just enjoyed another wonderful holiday in St Ives with Orange Roofs. Lantern Loft couldn’t be more central with the most beautiful view over the beach, sea and harbour, the scene is constantly changing. The clever design makes use of every little space and the bathroom is lovely. The twin bedroom is in the basement so you can’t really open the windows but this wasn’t a problem in April. We have never stayed so centrally before and it was good to be able to take the dog straight out onto the dog friendly beach

Absolutely loved Lantern Loft and it proved, as hoped, to be the ideal bolt hole to gaze out to sea and watch the world go by. Couldn't be more convenient for everything, what a luxury to be 3 minutes away from beaches and the centre of town and the views to Godrevy and Harbour are stunning and hard to leave! The house is extremely well appointed throughout with a spacious kitchen, cosy dining balcony and light and airy sea facing lounge. No expense spared on the bathroom +fantastic shower. Excellent service throughout from Sam at Orange Roofs, many thanks for a great holiday.

Wow! Stunning and fabulous. Close to the town, fabulous views( Make sure you visit EmsJems opposite, has some lovely jewellery and unusual objects.)This is a truly beautiful property with everything you would need and more.couldn't fault it.The shower is really great, as is the underfloor heating in the stylish bathroom. Bedrooms are lovely, the massage beds were great in downstairs bedroom and the bed upstairs is really comfortable. So welcoming, as soon as we opened the door on arrival we loved it.

Views in st Ives really don't get much better than Lantern Loft. A very comfy and well equipped cottage. A great location for a family holiday with enough room to stretch out and relax and just watch the boats bobbing with a chilled glass of something. Orange Roofs made everything very easy. Thanks you.

Just returned from a short stay in Latern Lodge. The property is ideally located for all amenities in St Ives. Shops and restaurants are minutes away, no need to use the car. There is no parking provided, you'll see why when you see the narrow streets, but there are car parks close by. We used the station car par for £7/24h and its only a 2 minute walk back. Although not large there is enough space for 2 couples or a family of 4 without feeling cramped. The master bedroom is upstairs with a twin bedded room below ground level. There are windows at street level so it doesn't feel claustrophobic.

Great location close to all amenities, lovely mix of old and new in the property, great to have washing machine and separate tiolet in upstairs bedroom. Downstairs bedroom suffered from damp and we needed to keep the humidifier running most of the time.

We have recently stayed at Lantern Loft (04.08.17) in our favourite place St Ives. The cottage was very well decorated, clean and it has the most fantastic views. It is in a perfect position with the beach just a few steps away and the shops are literally a 2 minute walk away. The master bedroom upstairs was beautiful and the extra bathroom was great. The welcome hamper including scones, jam and clotted cream that were left for us on our arrival was a lovely touch. We have already booked again for next year and we already can't wait. I would recommend this cottage to anyone visiting St Ives.

Lantern loft is fantastic. Right in the middle of st. Ives it was perfect for our family. Cottage is well equipped, clean and the views are simply stunning. We have stayed in many places in and around st ives over the last 20 years and this is the best by far. We will not look anywhere else and cannot wait to go back again. Welcome pack was a nice touch and much appreciated after a 5 hour journey!

Lovely views, good location, comfortable beds. Just lacking a dishwasher, some of electric lights not reliable, that is don't always work. Towel rail never came on. Having to run the dehumidifier in basement bedroom not ideal, and in sitting room some of the exposed stonework keeps crumbling. No doubt being so close to sea sets challenges ! But a good cottage, thank you for having us .

We chose this cottage for the view of the harbour and were not disappointed. The winter tides were great - some days where waves were breaking over the railings and others that were very still. Early mornings and evenings were good times to sea watch out the windows. St Ives was surprisingly lively for the winter and we arrived in time to see the lantern parade and switching on the Town lights. The cottage is very well equipped and nothing else we could have asked for during our stay
