About Pastimes Cottage

An elegant house in the heart of St Ives and all within short strolling distance of everything St Ives has to offer. Pastimes Cottage is slightly set back from the road and the south-facing front garden is a small oasis of privacy if you want to sit outside but not on the beach. With a sense of luxury and extreme comfort, this townhouse has everything you need to feel spoilt but at the same time evoke a feeling of being at home.

Being so close to pretty much anything you would want to do in St Ives, Pastimes Cottage welcomes couples and older families (we regret, due to the interior finish, that only children over the age of 8 years or babes in arms can stay at Pastimes Cottage). The beaches are that close that you can go armed for a day long visit or you can easily nip back to grab anything you may have forgotten. The nearest beach is Porthminster, which is family friendly and has the softest grains of sand and calm, clear swimming waters. The beachside eateries are pretty spectacular too!

For inside entertainment, Pastimes Cottage has a Blu-Ray DVD player, a 3D TV with 4 pairs of glasses, a basic SKY package and WiFi as well as the selection of books, so you will be kept amused whatever the weather! If it's hot and sunny, the front garden has 4 bistro chairs and a small table, it's laid with artificial grass for order and there is a storage bench seat at the front of the house for any wet or sandy gear best left outside but protected.

Pastimes Cottage makes for an easy holiday experience to St Ives with an allocated parking space for a lareg car being within 100m from your front door.

This property is excellent - you won't be disappointed. It has luxury fittings and furnishings throughout and is spotlessly clean. Very close to town so you can walk everywhere - and yet it is quiet. Parking space nearby. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

The property is very well appointed, represents excellent value for money and is in an ideal location in St Ives. I visit St Ives 3 or 4 times a year but on this occasion needed a property to be able to share with family and friends. I was hosting my 60th birthday party with a friend who lives there, in the Western Hotel which is just 50 yards away from the cottage, so the cottage was ideally situated. It is in the lower part of town, so there was no need for anybody to climb hills (unless they wished to!) which was perfect for some of my party. The access to a car parking space is a real bonus as 'free' parking in the town is almost a no no. The property is on 3 levels (living room and kitchen on the ground floor), 2 bedrooms (1 en suite) and a separate bathroom on the 1st floor and the 3rd bedroom (with en suite) on the second floor. The carpet throughout is cream in colour and a sign in the porch area asked you to remove your shoes. We had already decided to do this before spotting the sign! There is a small table with chairs out the front if you just wish to sit and watch the people walking down to, or back from, the town. All in all, I couldn't fault it and would certainly stay there again, if I ever needed to.

From the moment we arrived to fresh scones in the kitchen to the time we had to leave we felt like we were at home. The cottage was great for all three generations of our family with lovely bedrooms, a great kitchen and superb facilities all round. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to walk around all of the town as the cottage was so central and not up any steep hills. Thank you for all of the fantastic information in the orange folder which proved so useful throughout our stay. We ate at many of the recommendations you gave and also visited all of the beaches which our children loved.

St Ives is a lovely resort with all facilities and superb beaches close at hand. The restaurants are excellent, such a variety catering for all tastes and budgets. We loved Pastimes a real home from home with luxury comforts and fittings throughout this 3 bed cottage AND a Car parking space large enough for our estate car only metres from the cottage. For the days we could tear ourselves away from st Ives a superb walk is at Godrevy around by the lighthouse and to see the Seals in their natural habitat as well, just LOVELY.

A great cottage for 6 in an ideal location in St Ives with a high standard of fittings and facilities. The use a a car parking space nearby is an added bonus and is a quite large one for Cornwall in our experience! The booking documentation was very comprehensive and the whole process was easy to navigate with helpful emails right up to the time we left to go there. We would definitely book again if we came back to St Ives

We (that's a family of 6 adults) have just returned from a fantastic holiday in St Ives where we stayed in Pastimes. The house has everything you need, is extremely well maintained and clean. The kitchen, in particular, is kitted out with high quality appliances. And the surround-sound in the "living" area is a nice touch. It is obvious the owners go to great lengths to make sure the property is kept to an extremely high standard. The location of the house is within easy walking distance of the town centre, beech and harbour. St Ives, itself, is simply beautiful with quaint cobbled streets, an abundance of crafty / arty shops as well as some big brand names. The harbour is lovely, as are the local sandy coves and great coastal walks with amazing scenery, all within walking distance of the house, There are many restaurants to try and we particularly enjoyed the Seafood Cafe (actually a restaurant more than a cafe). It serves locally caught fish primarily, but you can choose from a very good selection of meat if preferred. You choose from a "visual menu" which is slightly different to other restaurants. St Ives is also an ideal place from which to tour Cornwall. We visited Penzance, Mousehole, Newlyn, Pendean, Sennen Cove and Lands End - all within easy driving distance (although we did walk between Sennen Cove and Lands End - such stunning views so highly recommended). On one day, we caught the train from St Ives to Penzance (changing at St Erth), then walked along the coast to Newlyn and Mousehole, stopping at a lovely little cafe before catching the bus back to Penzance to return to St Ives - it was a great afternoon, a good way to get to know the area whilst absorbing the wonderful sea views. So a car isn't necessary for this location, even though we did have one. All in all, we had a great holiday at Pastimes and will hopefully be visiting again.

This is the third time we have stayed for a week with Orange Roofs in St Ives. Twice at Ponckles and this time at the wonderfully big Pastimes Cottage. I cannot fault Sam and the team for the ease of booking, helping with queries and the standard of the accommodation provided and would thoroughly recommend staying in one of the properties on their website. Pastimes was perfect for us as it is very near to town and the beaches with the added bonus of a parking space just up the road. As mentioned in previous reviews, the standard of equipment is very good and you feel so at home as soon as you walk in. We hope to be back to St Ives again soon.

We stayed at Pastimes Cottage for 4 days, out of season. We found the cottage had everything we needed. It was tastefully decorated and very comfortable and we will be hoping to return. As already said in previous reviews, Sam did everything she could to make sure our holiday was as smooth as possible. Thank you.

This is the second time we have stayed at Pastimes and absolutely love it. A lot of effort has been put in by the owners to create a really homely feel for all to enjoy and relax within. The location is superb with it being so close to everything, set behind a beautiful front garden that leads out to the local amenities. The fact it has an allocated parking space is a real bonus and incredibly convenient for obvious reasons. All of the bedrooms have so much space within, the kitchen is very classy with all the appliances you could wish for. The bathrooms are very clean, some with stunning features and the showers work really well. There is so much light that comes in throughout the living areas, on a rainy day with few options available it is a great place to just sit back and enjoy time together. The Internet and TV work very well and the guide book contains lots of useful information about the cottage if required. We have stayed at a number of places in St Ives over the years, but this cottage has been by far the best! Booking through Orange roofs is also a hassle free process and Sam is lovely.

What a beautiful charming cottage. Tastefully decorated throughout, we found Pastimes a wonderful place to stay. It is so close to everything, with the local shops and cafes on your doorstep you can be where you need to be in no time at all. There is so much space in this cottage, the kitchen and living room are stunning. The owners have thought of everything and have clearly prioritised guests' comfort. We also found the allocated parking incredibly useful. After several visits to St Ives this was our most memorable trip yet. Would fully recommend.

We have just spent a very comfortable 10 days in Pastimes Cottage. Everything is high spec, of good quality and well thought out so you feel very relaxed from the minute you arrive. It's a rare find, 3 double bedrooms with a bathroom for each, perfect for us as we were a family of 3 couples. The parking space is such a bonus just a stone's throw away, and consequently we explored the surrounding area much more than we have in the past, just knowing we could park so easily on our return. The garden is remarkably private and is a lovely little sun trap. The cottage is on one of the busier roads but only by local standards, the main traffic being the bus ferrying folk up and down to the car park at the top of the hill. I could over-use the word "comfortable" is describing this cottage but that is essentially what it is. Very handy for everything in St Ives and we will certainly be back!
