About Porthia Penthouse
It’s very hard to try and describe the feeling you get as you walk into the living area of Porthia Penthouse, so all we can suggest is come and see for yourselves! The moment you see the view, you really can’t help but catch your breath with the beauty in front of you. You will be mesmerised by the great expanse of blue, turquoise sea of St Ives Bay, the golden sands of Porthminster beach below you and the dramatic back drop of the headland jutting out. You can enjoy these views from the comfort of your sofa, while eating your dinner at the dining table or out onto the balcony where the sight is matched by the sound of happy holidays by the sea in St Ives.
Porthia Penthouse, a two bedroom and two bathroom apartment, and is part of a large building that has been lovingly restored to make the Chy An Porth apartments. Chy An Porth means Home by the Bay which is apt given the apartment faces the splendid St Ives Bay. This apartment is at the top of the building so you can just imagine the views (and how fit you get walking up the 3.5 flights of stairs to get to it!). The parking for the apartment is directly attached to the building so all you need to do is park up and walk to the very top! Believe us, it is absolutely worth it and once off-loaded of luggage, you won’t regret it, gazing across the views from your private balcony with favourite tipple in hand.
Once inside the front door, walk along the hall to the main room of the apartment and you will love the open plan nature of the room incorporating the kitchen and dining area off the living area. The kitchen is very well equipped for a family holiday with NEFF integrated appliances such as oven, hob, grill, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. There is also a chilled drinks fridge as well as a Nescafe Gusto coffee maker to start and finish your days just perfectly. We are sure that what you will love most about this room are the views!
There is entertainment for the whole family with board games and some children's toys and, for the gamer warriors, there is an Xbox Series S Console so you can log in and play your favourite games. There is SKY HD with cinema package so for cosy evenings in or wet days, you are spoilt for choice given Netflix is provided for you too.
There are two bedrooms in the apartment, each can either be a twin configuration or super king. The default will always be a twin room and super king room in the master bedroom but we are happy to configure the rooms to suit your needs. The main bedroom has an en suite shower room with wash basin and WC and two velux windows with black out blinds to allow the summer breeze through on warm days. The twin bedroom has one velux with a black out blind and both bedrooms have LG TVs where Netflix is available on both. There is ample hanging and drawer space in both bedrooms for the family holiday. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, a wash basin and WC. There is a utility cupboard in the hallway that houses the washer/ dryer as well as the boiler that fires the gas central heating. You will find a highchair in the apartment as well as travel cot and changing mat so no need to pack these for your stay.
The nearest beach to Porthia Penthouse is Porthminster beach which can be reached quickly via a footpath almost opposite the apartment which takes you down towards the palm trees and the pull of the inviting sea. There is a café on the beach serving food and drink during the summer season and there is also the bistro café called Porthminster Beach Café serving delicious sea food and suppers with an outstandingly beautiful back drop of the sea. The other beaches of St Ives are all within a 10 to 15 minute walk of the apartment with the furthest being Porthmeor beach on the west side of the town. The harbour front and town centre is easily reached on foot but if you don't fancy the walk back up the hill after a delicious meal, local taxi firms are more than happy to pop you back for the short journey home.
St Ives offers so much for its visitors from its beaches, beach cafes serving gastro delights, water sports, boat trips, great eateries for any time of the day, traditional pubs, fudge and ice cream parlours, independent shops and an exquisite choice of galleries and craft workshops. The Tate St Ives is perched above Porthmeor beach and what a way to spend a few hours mooching around their amazing gallery space followed by lunch on their top floor restaurant with breath taking views and then onto the beach for a snooze!
Having parking on your doorstep allows you to have the freedom to explore the rest of West Cornwall easily. We recommend going to the far West and soaking up the views from Land's End and Porthcurno and then travelling around to Lamorna, Mousehole and then into Marazion and St Michael's Mount. Stop off at Newlyn to buy your fresh fish for dinner before heading home! If you would like more ideas for places to visit, check out our Guidebook for suggestions too.
Finally, the owners of Porthia Penthouse provide two day passes to St Ives Harbour & Spa Hotel which is just across the road from the apartment. These day passes allow two people per day to visit the swimming pool and gym. We advise all guests who book the apartment to book swim sessions in advance of their holiday to avoid disappointment. Also, don't forget to book any beauty or massage treatments well in advance of your holiday at the Spa too - go on, spoil yourselves! If you want to visit with an extra adult or child, there is an additional charge per session. Please contact the Hotel & Spa directly to enquire about list prices, additional passes and booking swim sessions.
Please note, due to the penthouse apartment being on the top floor, we do not recommend to anyone who struggles to walk stairs.
