About Smugglers Cottage
Smugglers Cottage couldn’t be better placed for couples or families fancying a beach holiday in St Ives. In fact, it is so brilliantly placed that you can arrive, dump your belongings and dart straight to the beach armed with buckets and spades! The beach is pretty much on your doorstep, so by the time you’ve walked to the front door you’ll still have sand between your toes.
Harbour Beach (the one on your doorstep) is sandy and sheltered when the tide is out and, when the tide is in, it becomes a playground for fishing boats, SUP boarding, swimming, and sight-seeing boat trips as well as self-drive rib boats. The super child friendly Porthgwidden Beach is just a 5 minute walk from the cottage, and the surfer's (or aspiring surfer's) idea of heaven is Porthmeor Beach which is just a few minutes' walk further through the cobbled backstreets.
Smugglers is a typical and traditional St Ives cottage
arranged over three floors with beautiful sea and beach views from
both double bedrooms. Why not indulge yourself with a glass of
wine, your book and the comfort of the window seat where a glance
up will make you lose your page on many occasions! The kitchen and
living room are both on the ground floor, the stairs that go up to
the second floor lead to a wide landing area with space to hang
your coats and tuck away the holiday luggage. On the same floor is
the family bathroom and a double bedroom with en suite WC and
basin, plus a bay window seat. Up another flight of wooden stairs
to the third floor, you will find a twin bedroom (at the rear of
the house) and another double bedroom with equally captivating sea
and harbour views.
You could have an active or lazy holiday or mixture of both here. The nearest restaurant and the 14th century pub The Sloop Inn are within a minute's walk - easy rolling distance after having spoilt yourselves with great food and drink!
There's no need to come with the car as the train station is just a 10 minute walk away and taxis are constantly popping in and out of Old St Ives saving visitors' legs and arms from luggage lugging.

The location of the cottage is great if you want to be right next to all the bars and restaurants in the main harbour area in St Ives. The cottage was cosy and more than comfortable for us which was 2 couples. It is well equipped and surprisingly quiet at night and in the early morning (excl gulls which are everywhere anyway). I would recommend it.

This cottage is just a short step from everything that is wonderful about St Ives. The location could not be better. The cottage is deceptively spacious, nicely decorated and furnished. The kitchen is excellent and the owners very kindly left a pile of goodies - such as Scones, jam , clotted cream , biscuits , tea which was a really nice touch. A wonderful cosy cottage which we couldn't fault

We had 5 amazing days at the beautiful Smugglers Cottage in St Ives. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and extremely cute! Perfect location. Orange Roofs were easy to get hold of, returning emails very quickly, sending lots of great information pre arrival. It really is the perfect spot for a short or longer stay, with the family or just as a romantic getaway. We had 6 of us, three generations under one roof, all adults - plenty of room. Wonderful break from the fires in Sydney! I seriously could have stayed forever!! Thank you.

A fabulous holiday from start to finish. I didn't need to contact Orange Roofs as they had thoughtfully provided all the information I required throughout the booking/holiday experience. The cottage was charming & exceptionally clean (my biggest worry as I knew dogs were permitted, however, there was no evidence of them anywhere). It was plenty big enough for 4 adults & we all loved it. The location was great, being at the quieter end of the harbour but easily accessible to all the beaches, shops and bars. I enjoyed a morning coffee on the wall watching the hustle & bustle of St Ives. My husband & I holidayed with our 2 mothers - mine being 92 years old. She's not very mobile but managed to navigate the stairs. Both mothers loved the view from their front-facing bedrooms. When we next return to St Ives I will certainly look to Orange Roofs for accommodation.
