Socially-distanced nosh in St Ives

You may be pleased to know that more and more restaurants and cafés in St Ives are now offering take-aways.

St Ives since the pandemic began has been a very different place to live. We wouldn’t say the streets have had tumbleweed, thanks to the locals staying present and brave, but it has been eerily quiet without tourists.

Shop and holiday home windows have gathered a thick layer of sea salt and seagull poo (speaking of which, the seagulls are looking decidedly healthier!) and roads have been much quieter; getting from A to B along Fore Street in St Ives has been an absolute breeze!

It’s probably been the best Spring/ early Summer weather Cornwall has enjoyed for quite a few years and so it’s really sad that you all haven’t been able to enjoy it with us. We have shared photos on our orange_roofs Instagram page as well as on our Orange Roofs Facebook page to try and give you all something to look forward to. We hope it hasn’t done the opposite!

In the time of lockdown, Orange Roofs joined in with the #treatournhs campaign where NHS frontline workers entered a competition to win a free stay at 16 different properties. The very deserved winners are yet to come and stay but I’m sure we all agree they thoroughly merit their R&R.

As the lockdown lifts across the UK, St Ives is getting ready for tourists again from 4th July onwards. At Orange Roofs we have worked hard to create a Covid-19 housekeeping protocol to protect all guests and housekeepers. We will be in touch with all guests before their stay to give a little more information on this. Everyone’s health, safety and well-being means a lot to us so we will do all we can to offer you a worry-free holiday!

We know that a large part of coming to St Ives is eating the delicious local food, well the restaurants of St Ives will not let you down! I am certain that they too would love to open from the 4th July onwards so watch this space but until then, below is a list of businesses in St Ives who are positively encouraging us all to eat their wonderful takeaway food…
