St Ives Holidays – April Edition
How busy is St Ives in April?
As it’s usually Easter holidays in April, you can expect St Ives to be busy.
Car parks will be trickier to find a parking space, particularly in the heart of the town. There are short stay and long stay car parks in St Ives. For a detailed list of car parks and the number of spaces each have, read our Holiday Guide for St Ives.
Did you know that 90% of our St Ives Cottages have an allocated parking space or two?
If the sun shines and it’s warm, the beaches will be busier and the watersport schools will be open and thriving. The beach cafes will also need to be booked in advance particularly during peak demand times of breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can expect other restaurants in the town to be busier too so it’s always best to book ahead. Most restaurants operate with online booking forms now, making it really easy to choose a day and time you’d like to eat.
If the weather takes a turn and it’s wet, the streets will be more bustly with people walking the cobbled lanes window shopping and browsing.
We love Easter in St Ives as it’s normally around 15 degrees and sunny with a turquoise sea (still chilly) but a very inviting nonetheless (in a wetsuit, of course!)

Restaurant review of the month
The Razor Clam, 2 Tregenna Place, St IvesMarch has been an incredibly busy month and, the chance to personally eat out has eluded me before getting the April edition of St Ives Holidays published online.
So, I thought I would choose a restaurant in St Ives, scan and study reviews online that raved about a particular place enough for me to share it. I came up with The Razor Clam in St Ives. Tripadvisor has 108 reviews and the average score is 4.7 out of 5.
The general consensus is that the seafood and steak are tasty and good value for money. The ambience can be a bit chilly particularly out of season so be prepared and go layered up and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The menu has a good mix of seafood and grill from Fish Chowder, Crab Salad, Lobster and Monkfish Curry to Ribeye Steak, Sirloin Steak or Burgers. There is a limited children’s menu but do they ever want more than Chicken Nuggets or Sausages anyway?!
Starter prices start at just under £10 and go up to just under £20 for a dressed Crab or Seafood Share Platter. Main courses are on average around £22.
They have won the OpenTable Diners Choice award 2025 are Ranked 1 on TripAdvisor.
You can book a table online by visiting their website The Razor Clam

Review from a guest that stayed at Sea Fever for a week in MarchSea Fever in St Ives
What a little gem Sea Fever is. The fantastic views & the sounds of the sea top any holiday home we have ever stayed in. The house is so well equipped with quality items & some wonderful art work. Extremely well thought out & designed. Great to have a parking space a few minutes walk away, a real bonus for beautiful St Ives. Big thank you owners for sharing your special place. Also thank you Orange Roofs for your excellent communication & updates.
Worst bit – having to leave.
Fun Fact for April
The King of France, Charles IX, switched New Year’s Day from the 1st April to the 1st of January in 1564. The problem, however, was that 16th-century communications were not what they are today. Word of the calendar change took a very long time to spread throughout Europe and beyond. Unsurprisingly, some resisted the change. Those who refused to honor January 1st as the beginning of the New Year and continued to use the April 1st demarcation became known as April Fools for their obstinacy and resistance to change. As the lore goes, April 1st was dubbed April Fools Day for those who clung to their old ways. Those poor ‘fools’, who refused to accept the new calendar were sent off on ridiculous errands and were made the butt of practical jokes. Hence, April Fools day!
