Top 5 Breakfasts in South West Cornwall

We all love the chance to have someone else make us the most important meal of the day, right? Try out a few of our favourite places to eat breakfast in St Ives and West Cornwall and start dreaming of those pancakes, vegan cooked breakfasts and superb Yallah coffees!

The Old Forge

If you follow us on social media, you will have seen more than one of our posts giving homage to breakfast from The Old Forge! Located in Lelant, this restaurant and deli earned itself and its food an excellent reputation and despite all their food being great, we just cannot get enough of their breakfasts! They have a delicious range of vegan, vegetarian and meaty breakfasts, whether you fancy their avocado salsa with bacon or their banana and walnut loaf, it is sure to give you the best start to the day!

The Dog and Rabbit

We would most definitely encourage you to venture along the windy coast road to St Just to find The Dog and Rabbit Café for a bite of breakfast. They have a simple yet wonderfully effective menu that will certainly put a smile on your face. They have a daily, ever so slightly changing, menu but with all you can expect with a full English cooked breakfast as well as a vegetarian and vegan option. The menu may be simple but the food is executed just perfectly. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, it is a great addition that the pork they use is from free range pigs just down the road!

Porthmeor West

Porthmeor West, located on Porthmeor beach, is open seasonally, usually between early spring and later autumn and when it is open, it is hard not to go there for almost all your meals out, especially breakfast. The location adds to the whole experience, where better to start you day than being sat as close to the sea as possible without being on the actual sand!? Their menu maximises local ingredients and all their dishes are delicious (we can say for a fact, we have sampled most!) What isn’t there to enjoy about handmade waffles with stewed seasonal berries and a dollop of Cornish clotted cream, or butternut squash bruschetta?

Feed and Fed

Although not a sit-down dining experience, Feed has become a hugely popular breakfast destination for all. In Foundry square in Hayle you’ll spot a little shack, usually with a hustle and bustle of people surrounding it, serving out some of the best breakfast sandwiches around! They do a truly scrumptious array of baps, bagels and breakfast boxes as well as freshly baked treats and our favourite Yallah Coffee. Perfect for a breakfast on the go!

Porthmeor Beach Café

We are returning to Porthmeor Beach for breakfast, as it is impossible to ignore it! Porthmeor Beach Cafe has been delivering top notch breakfasts since we can remember and it is certainly hard to find anyone who doesn’t love them! It is a combination of the amazing views, brilliant staff and super talented chefs that add to the breakfast experience. Their innovative menu ticks all the boxes and one of the best parts is the ‘build you own breakfast’ option. You can have as much or as little of your favourite ingredients as you please, you start with the bread and eggs and then you are able to choose a variety of additions, from the usual bacon, eggs, beans, etc to roasted squash, halloumi, salmon and much more! If you go there, we’d also suggest you try and book an outdoor booth for a truly special experience.
