Strong Adolfo’s, Nr. Wadebridge

You know your breakfast is going to be special when the place looks utterly cool and has a laid-back vibe.  Strong Adolfo’s is our go-to breakfast place when meeting friends who live further up the A30 from St Ives. It’s also a great place to have breakfast when taking a day trip to Wadebridge, Polzeath or Padstow. If you want one of the best breakfasts in Cornwall, we thoroughly recommend you plan a brunch here. Pancakes are served until midday and you can choose from their American or Black Forest variety or try their super special cinnamon toast.

If you love meat, go for the full English breakfast loaded with locally reared meat. If plant-love is more your thing, the vegan cooked breakfast is incredible too. Choose from many breakfast options served all day too, so avocado and poached egg smothered in Hollandaise sauce can be yours for lunch too. Car parking is at the front of this chic cafe as well as extra spaces at the back and, after brunch, consider some retail therapy at Hawkesfield which is where the cafe is at the heart of!

Count House Cafe, Pendeen (Geevor Tin Museum)

Walks around the Far West of Cornwall promise spectacular views from clifftops, extraordinary ocean expanses and lots of history. One of these places is Geevor Tin Mine which is set back from the South West Coast Path overlooking Boscaswell Cliffs near Pendeen. The mine is no longer in action but decades ago, it was a working mine where many local families relied on it for work. It’s now a museum and, at the same site, is the utterly amazing Count House Cafe with jaw-dropping views and super delicious food.

Whatever you decide to eat for brunch, the Count House Cafe promises good-sized portions, local ingredients and possibly the best views from a cafe in Cornwall! Let your imagination run wild over breakfast and lose yourself in Poldark country.

The Cornish Deli, St Ives

Arguably the best place to get a Full English breakfast in St Ives! At The Cornish Deli, they prefer to call breakfast ‘brunch’, that way nobody is stressed about getting up early. Set the alarm for 9 am and you will have between 9.30 am to 11.30 am to enjoy one of the best breakfasts in Cornwall. The Cornish Deli is on Chapel Street in St Ives which is a quaint lane behind High Street; be sure to book to avoid disappointment!

The menu is mouth-wateringly tempting and simple. Choose a full Cornish Brunch, with locally smoked bacon, sausages made just up the hill, free range Cornish eggs, balsamic grilled tomatoes and sauteed mushrooms. We love their Frazzled Chorizo, mushrooms and free-range eggs – so tasty! The Cornish Deli also cater for vegetarians with a full veggie brunch with ever popular polenta chips.

The Old Forge, Lelant

If you follow us on social media, you will have seen more than one of our posts paying homage to The Old Forge’s breakfasts. The restaurant is in Lelant where it and the deli have earned excellent reputations.  All of their menu is great, but we are particularly partial to their breakfasts! They have a delicious range of vegan, vegetarian and meaty breakfasts, whether you fancy their avocado salsa with bacon or their banana and walnut loaf, it is sure to give you the best start to the day!

Fuel, Falmouth

Stroll from Events Square towards to Falmouth’s Prince of Wales Pier and you will pass the delectable food aromas coming from Fuel. It’s on Arwenack Street which is a colourful street lined with galleries and independent shops. The atmosphere at this quirky cafe is laid-back with the eclectic decor being a focal interest. Furnished using a collection of mismatched vintage furniture, quirky wall art, and funky light fixtures makes it perfect for instant relaxation and familiarisation.

Fuel sources its high-quality ingredients all within 15 miles of the cafe! Enjoy one of the best breakfasts in Cornwall at Fuel by ordering Cornish pancakes, Kedgeree, full Cornish breakfast (with vegan and vegetarian options) all washed down with a delicious coffee or pot of tea. Sunset Surf, Gwithian Towans (Hayle)

Plan a weekend brunch at Sunset Surf, let go of all your thoughts and simply sit back, relax and enjoy the great food, coffee and sea views! Sunset Surf cafe is at the end of a lane that leads you into the dunes above Hayle and Gwithian Beach. The car park opposite is often full of VW campers and roof racks carrying surfboards as it’s THE place to be if you want to catch the best waves. So many love the Towans to walk their dogs, catch up with friends and relax for an hour or so over a great Cornish breakfast and hot cup of coffee.

If you’re really hungry, choose the Belgian waffle stacks loaded with streaky bacon and maple syrup or sliced banana, pecans and chocolate sauce. If you’ve worked up an appetite by surfing for a few hours first thing, choose the Surfers Special which is a heaped Full English Breakfast. There are vegan and vegetarian options with our favourite being the Veggie Surfer.

Slice of Cornwall, Constantine 

Be ready for BIG portion sizes at Slice of Cornwall! They really do know how to lay out some of the best breakfasts in Cornwall. Whether it’s sweet or savoury waffles, vegan, vegetarian or traditional English breakfast or perhaps overnight oats that you crave, Slice does it in style. The menu is extensive and you will need at least 10 minutes to give the sheer number of dishes real consideration before choosing.

Whether it’s a standard Americano coffee or something more exotic like a Matcha or Tumeric latte, the drinks menu is just as appealing. Slice of Cornwall is a place to lose a few hours over brunch followed by a walk in the most beautiful woods very nearby. There is plenty of parking and there is seating outdoors too if the sun is out and warm. Well-behaved dogs are welcome outside.

Box and Barber, Newquay

This cool cafe in the heart of Newquay is fast becoming the place to go for breakfast or brunch. It’s cool, laid-back vibe is an inviting space to go and relax, read the paper and slow things down a little. You can choose from super nutritious smoothies, overnight oats loaded with sweet fruit and a dollop of yoghurt, incredible breakfast burritos, pancakes and so much more. Whether it’s a latte, pot of tea or a warming chai made with oat milk, Box and Barber serves up exactly what you need for a relaxed start to your day.

The Croust Hut, Great Flat Lode

This has to be one of our favourite places to go for a brunch following a dog walk around the wonderful Great Flat Lode near Camborne. The staff are really very friendly towards us and our dog! Well-behaved dogs are allowed inside but there is also a wonderful outdoor dining area under the gaze of an iconic (and now sleepy) engine house. The portion sizes at The Croust Hut definitely satisfy the hungry! If you love meat, choose their locally-reared meat featuring in the Mega Cornish Breakfast with tasty sausages, bacon, hogs pudding and black pudding as well as the usual trimmings.

The vegan breakfast is also a loaded plate with vegan sausages, tempeh, avocado, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, hash browns and toast. It’s always best to visit The Croust Hut hungry just so you can finish everything on your plate. If you have a sweet tooth, you just have to try their Berry Waffles! It’s a busy cafe with an energetic vibe so no snoozing in the sunshine here; you will leave feeling both stuffed and energised.
