What’s open near where I’m staying?
Below, we will hopefully give you a synopsis of places you can expect to find opening in the upcoming weeks. We’ll also attach individual links where possible so you’re able to read in greater details about the measures they will be taking to keep both you and them safe following the ease of lockdown measures.
Porthmeor Beach Café – Re-opening 04/07/20. They will be operating at a limited capacity with staggered bookings. Please find out further information following this link.

Balcony Bar & Kitchen – They have announced they will be re-opening very soon, however, a specific date has not yet been given. For updates and information check both their website and Facebook page. To contact them directly with any queries, use the following:
Beer and Bird – Re-opening 04/07/20. They will remain operating a walk-in only system where you’re unable to book ahead, but if it is busy, you are able to leave your details and they will contact you when a table is available. To keep up to date be sure to check out their Facebook and website.

Café Pasta – Re-opening 04/07/20. Any bookings made prior to lockdown have been honoured and confirmed. There is limited capacity to adhere to social distancing rules so if you would like to book, you will need to contact them on the following:

Source Kitchen – Opening 04/07/20. Source Kitchen is a new addition to St Ives that has been operating a takeaway service for the most recent few weeks of lockdown. Now they are happy to be opening for reservations. To book you need to call:

Blue Thunder Rib Rides – As from 04/07/20, Blue Thunder will be operating at a limited capacity to ensure social distancing is maintained. To book online or contact them directly, head over to their website.
St Ives Boats, Dolly P – Popular boat rides such as a trip to seal island are now available as from 04/07/20. They are publishing helpful information on their Facebook page – St Ives Boats.
Hayle and surrounding areasFood
Sunset Surf – Re-opening 09/07/20. They will be taking many safety measures in preparation for opening, one of these is that to begin with they will be using just their outdoor seating and takeaway service. For more information take a look at the Sunset Surf Café/Bar Facebook page.
The Old Forge: Re-opening from 06/07/20. They will be open for 7 days a week serving breakfast and lunch, however, evening service will be running on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. To find and more and make online reservations head over to their website!
Feed and Fed – (Takeaway only) A fantastic little pop up that occupies an old shipping container in Hayle. You’ll find a small team working endlessly to deliver fresh coffee and some of the best tacos in town. The Jam Pot – The Jam Pot Cafe is open for takeaways on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, for cakes coffees and sandwiches. Their Facebook page ‘The Jam Pot Café’ is where they seem to be posting their frequent updates.
Sanders Fish and Chips – Re-opening 04/07/20 for sit down meals. Due to a limited capacity they would strongly recommend calling ahead to book. To contact them directly, use the following:
Paradise Park – Paradise Park has not yet given an exact date of when they’re opening, but they are hoping to open in early July. They are introducing new measures to ensure bird shows can continue whilst adhering to social distancing measures. For more up to date information, be sure to take a look at their website.
Trevaskis Farm – The much loved Trevaskis Farm is now open to the public to pick your own fruit (the animal section isn’t just yet!), with a new cabin at the top of one of their fields for you to pay in, so the shop can remain for customers buying groceries.
Helston and PorthlevenFood
The Mussel Shoal – Perched on the edge of Porthleven Harbour, The Mussel Shoal is now open for takeaway food and socially distanced outdoor dining, a little walk from their shack. They’re keeping their customers up to date via their social media.
Boo Koos – Boo Koos in Helston is now open and available for takeaway burgers, fries and shakes. You can find their menu and opening hours on their website.
Kota Kai – Kota Kai will be re-opening from 04/07/20, 7 days a week, for lunch and dinner. We would recommend contacting them online to secure a booking.
Penrose Estate – Penrose Estate is a National Trust owned property and estate, offering beautiful scenic walks. So far, the grounds have now been opened for you to enjoy.
The Seal Sanctuary – If you’re looking for a fun day out with the family (including the dog!) The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Helston has now re-opened on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The Gurnards Head – At the moment, no specific date has been published as to when The Gurnards Head will be re-opening, but they have reassured us that plans are being undertaken to open as soon as they are able to!
