Best family friendly places to eat in St Ives

Thinking of somewhere to eat with the kids can be a bit of a challenge, especially when you’ve never visited St Ives before.

There’s a lot more choice for kids than just fish and chips to go, not that we don’t absolutely love fish and chips though…

The town is filled with new foods to try, different cuisines to sample and fun atmospheres to soak up. Plenty of wonderful places welcome families with kids and, most importantly, none of them compromise quality for being child friendly. Not only are these places super family friendly, they also serve up some seriously delicious food.

Everyone’s needs are different so if you’re eating out with a young baby, worried about access, want to know if there are changing facilities or have more specific questions the best advice is always to call ahead and ask.

Blas Burgerworks

The Warren, TR26 2EA 01736 797272

The ideal spot for vegans and vegetarians who can’t resist a delectable burger, Blas Burgerworks is one of the trendiest restaurants in St Ives. The best local ingredients are expertly combined to make some majorly tasty burgers and tantalizing appetizers. Although its small size and shared seating might make Blas unsuitable for younger children and large groups older kids will love the cool style and funky designs adorning the walls.

Scoff Troff Café

Market Place, TR26 1RZ 01736 797341

The child and dog friendly Scoff Troff Café has fast earned a great reputation in St Ives. Whether you’re having a Croque Madame at breakfast, a New York Salad at lunch, tucking into their Italian inspired evening menu at dinner or simply swinging by for an indulgent slice of cake coupled with a coffee, any member of the family can feel at home in the bright, fun and friendly atmosphere of the Scoff Troff Café.

With good sized tables and baby changing facilities, Scoff Troff is suitable for both very young and older children and while you’re there you might also be lucky enough to meet Kodie, The Scoff Troff’s own resident pooch who holds pride of place at the front of the café to welcome visitors.

Lakeside Cabin Café

Just a few miles out of St Ives the stunningly located Lakeside Cabin Café attracts visitors far and wide with its reputation for deliciously decadent cakes and award-winning Cornish pasties, made with the secret family recipe.

The inside of the café is cosy and quaint but kids will probably be happier to stretch out in the ample outdoor seating and garden or take a leisurely stroll around the Nance Fishing Lake while enjoying the sights and sounds of the countryside.

There’s also a charming farm shop next door where you can stock up on some seasonal essentials to take home or, if you can’t resist the temptation, devour back at your holiday cottage later.

Cellar Bistro

Fore Street, TR26 1HE 01736 791813

Cellar Bistro is in the heart of St Ives but still has an exclusive feel to it, making it the perfect restaurant if you’re looking for somewhere a little bit special. It’s uniquely and beautifully decorated with a relaxed and welcoming feel and caters wonderfully for families as it’s loosely separated into three sections for couples, families and large groups. The enticing menu, which has an impressive range of options for kids, has a range of scrumptious range of flavours that show case fresh and local ingredients.

West Beach Bakery

Porthmeor Beach, TR26 1JZ 01736 795843

In one unbeatable location, the West Beach Bakery on Porthmeor is the perfect place to hang out, watch the waves roll in and enjoy some tasty grub. The choice of food on offer is very much quality over quantity but there are still some great kids’ options to choose from and it goes without saying that with the waves lapping the shoreline a stone’s throw away, the view is simply stunning. The golden sands also make the perfect playground for the kids to enjoy while the grown-ups soak up the sun on the deck with a cheeky cocktail or two.

These are just a few we could think of to recommend. There are of course many restaurants in St Ives who may be equally geared up for families and young children too so check out our bigger blog on places to eat and drink in St Ives and nearby..
