About Artists Harbour

Artists Harbour is a dog-friendly holiday cottage in St Ives, just metres from Harbour Beach and within easy walking distance of Porthmeor Beach, Porthminster Beach, shops, galleries and restaurants. Sleeping up to six guests across three bedrooms, this characterful four-storey cottage offers beautiful harbour views, flexible sleeping arrangements and an allocated parking space at St Ives Rugby Club. With original artwork, exposed granite walls and a traditional Downalong feel, Artists Harbour is ideal for families or couples looking for a central self-catering holiday home close to the sea.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen and dining area is on the entrance level of the cottage and combines original artwork, stripped wooden floors and calming coastal colours.

The kitchen is equipped with an under-counter fridge, separate under-counter freezer, freestanding electric oven with hob, washer-dryer and coffee machine.

The adjoining dining area provides a comfortable place to gather for breakfast, family meals or a relaxed evening at home.

A staircase leads down from this level to the lower-ground-floor bedroom and bathroom, while the back door provides another useful entrance after returning from the beach.

Living

The living room is on the second floor, where the elevated position begins to reveal lovely views across St Ives Harbour.

The room has been styled to complement the traditional character of the cottage, with a relaxed coastal feel and comfortable seating for unwinding after a day exploring St Ives.

From here, you can enjoy the changing harbour views and the atmosphere of the town below while still having a calm space to retreat to.

Bedrooms

Artists Harbour has three bedrooms arranged across the lower-ground, second and top floors.

On the lower-ground floor is a flexible bedroom with two three-foot single beds which can be joined together to create a super king-size bed in width. Please let Orange Roofs know your preferred arrangement when booking.

On the second floor is a bunk bedroom with its own en-suite WC and wash basin.

The top floor is home to the principal king-size bedroom, which enjoys beautiful panoramic views across St Ives Harbour. This bedroom also has its own en-suite shower room.

Bathrooms

The cottage has two full bathrooms, along with an additional en-suite WC and wash basin in the bunk bedroom.

On the lower-ground floor is a family bathroom with a bath and shower over, wash basin and WC.

The top-floor principal bedroom has an en-suite shower room with shower, wash basin and WC.

The bunk bedroom has its own en-suite WC and wash basin.

Outdoor Space

Artists Harbour has a useful rear access area where sandy feet, wetsuits and beach equipment can be dealt with before heading fully indoors.

There is space outside the back entrance to rinse down after the beach, making it particularly practical for families, surfers and guests travelling with dogs.

The cottage does not have a private garden or terrace, but with St Ives Harbour Beach only metres away, the sea and coastline are almost on the doorstep.

Parking

Guests have use of one allocated parking space at St Ives Rugby Club, approximately a twenty-minute uphill walk from the cottage.

If space allows, guests can briefly pull up closer to the property around Island Square or The Wharf to unload luggage before moving the car to the parking area.

The walk to the Rugby Club is uphill and may feel challenging for guests who are not used to hills.

During busier periods, a shuttle bus usually operates between the area near Tate St Ives and St Ives Rugby Club, providing a convenient alternative to walking.

Dog-Friendly

Up to two well-behaved small to medium adult dogs are welcome, weighing no more than 18kg each.

Guests bringing a dog should provide their own dog bed, towels and throws, and dogs must be well behaved and well mannered within the cottage.

The central location makes it easy to head straight out for coastal walks and explore the surrounding beaches and harbourfront.

Close to Beach

Artists Harbour is approximately fifty metres from St Ives Harbour Beach, putting the sea within moments of the front door.

Porthmeor Beach is also only a few minutes' walk away and is particularly popular for surfing, while Porthminster Beach can be reached on foot in around five to ten minutes.

St Ives Harbour, Fore Street, galleries, independent shops, cafés, restaurants and delis are all within very easy walking distance, making the cottage an excellent choice for guests who want to explore St Ives without relying on a car.

Access

Artists Harbour is a traditional St Ives cottage arranged over four floors.

Granite steps lead up from Victoria Place to the main entrance level, where the kitchen and dining area are located.

The lower-ground floor contains the flexible super king or twin bedroom and family bathroom. The living room and bunk bedroom are on the second floor, while the principal bedroom and en-suite shower room are on the top floor.

There are several internal staircases throughout the cottage, so guests should be comfortable using stairs during their stay.

We loved our time here; the property was spotless, had everything we needed and is in a fantastic location. I'd definitely recommend heading straight to the parking space at the rugby club as there's not really anywhere to pull in to unload luggage. It's around a 25 minute walk but the taxi firm that's advertised at the club were really efficient. The views from the property were amazing and it's literally 10 seconds walk to the beach. Definitely recommend! My only advice for those in the upstairs bedroom is to mind your head!

Lovely cottage, good decorative condition and more spacious than we expected having had 50 years of staying in St Ives cottages. Great views from middle and top floor. Dining area has views as well of the harbour, slightly restricted but still a view of the water. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful week in St Ives staying in Artists Harbour. We visit most February's but haven't booked via Orange Roofs before, we definitely will again. The cottage was great, it had everything we needed, a lovely welcome pack and perfect location. Orange Roofs were so efficient, great communication and when the WiFi signal wasn't great they sorted it straight away (it was a PlusNet problem and not the house). Nothing was too much trouble to ensure our stay was perfect. Thank you!

Artists Harbour is a great base, close to all that St Ives has to offer. The layout over four floors works for family's to allow for separate living during your stay. There are some steep steps, those with mobility issues may struggle. But overall very happy with our stay.

We had a fantastic week staying at the very comfortable and wonderfully located cottage, Artist's Harbour. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. There were lots of stairs but we found the layout really worked well. The historic features of the house were beautifully preserved in the lovely stonework in the sitting room and kitchen/diner. The house was quiet and had great views and was really conveniently located, close to the beach and shops. An adjacent property was under construction but the scaffolding didn't badly affect the view and there was almost no building noise or activity and our host kept us fully informed. We enjoyed the very kind welcome and excellent communication from the Orange Roofs team and our host. I can highly recommend this cottage, I'd love to go back.

We enjoyed our stay at Artists Harbour and found the photos and descriptions to fairly represent the property. The Orange Roofs app worked well for us, providing all the information we needed ahead and during our holiday. We'd happily return in future and use Orange Roofs.

This was my first time visiting St Ives and booking property on Orange Roof and I was very impressed by the quality of the experience. First the location near the harbour was outstanding and we couldn't have asked for a better position. There was a building in front under refurbishment in the sight line of our harbour view, but the people at Orange roof were very communicative about it and ended up being less of an issue than expected. The property itself was clean and a welcome package of provisions really made it feel looked after. Instructions on accessing the property and expectations on check out were extremely straightforward. We are look forward to returning to Cornwall and booking with Orange Roof again in the future.

Fantastic property split across four levels and easily big enough for 6 people. Well decorated and maintained and in great condition. Well located in the hub of the island. A great service too from the Orange Roofs team who made the whole process very straight forward. Thanks to all.

Fantastic stay at Artists Harbour! Set back from the harbour, accessed by short foot path. Beautiful harbour views from the living room and bedroom on top floor which is flooded with light. The house is over 4 floors which suited us for peace and privacy. Position perfect for Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches. The house was clean and bright and beautifully decorated. Car parking space at the rugby club worked well. With a shuttle bus every 15 minutes between the car park and Porthmeor Beach. Lovely holiday.

Fantastic house in a superb location. Amazing views from lounge and bedroom. Comfortably furnished and well equipped. Steep, narrow stairs would be the only drawback for some but I'd expect that would be similar in most older properties in the area

Artist Harbour has amazing views of the harbour from the top 2 floors. The attic bedroom is very light and airy. The location is perfect, close to the beaches, shops and restaurants but tucked away so it isn't noisy. We had no problem stopping on the Wharf to load and unload at the beginning and end of the holiday. The accommodation had everything we needed and was suitable for the 3 couples in our party (the bunk beds were large enough for young adults). The kitchen has washing machine and a dishwasher. Having loos near all 3 bedrooms was convenient. There is low-level lighting on the narrow, turning stairs which was helpful.

Found the stairs a bit steep, but the overall accommodation was great distance from the beach was great, not too far to walk. Although there was free parking at the rugby club was a bit of a pain to keep getting to it, as buses don't start until after ten.

Lovely and clean,Very comfortable,Ideal for a family only negative that I can think of is that the stair gates didn't seem to have the fittings but as we had bought one of our own we were ok .We would be happy to recommend Artist Harbour to anyone.Thank you for a lovely holiday

This is the second time we have stayed at the Artists Harbour in St Ives. Once again, the process from start to finish in terms of booking, check-in, duration of our stay and check-out was effortless. We didn't need to speak to anyone once. The only difference between this time and our stay last time is that this time we felt as if we were coming home!! Apart from being ideally located, Artists Harbour is spotlessly clean and houses all the amenities required for any holiday. Wifi is excellent and the TV comes with built-in Netflix and Amazon prime - not that this was a priority for us but certainly worth remembering if you have children. We look forward to our 3rd return next year!

We always book with Orange Roofs when we stay in St Ives as we know we won't have to worry about anything from the booking process to the quality of the accommodation. We have stayed in several of their properties over the years and they are all very stylish and well equipped. Artist's Harbour was no different and had the added bonus of lovely views over the harbour which could be enjoyed from the attic bedroom and the sitting room. The sitting room and kitchen/dining room are very spacious and comfortable, as is the ground-floor bedroom. The attic bedroom has a fantastic view but the sloping ceilings restrict hanging space for clothes so we used the ground floor bedroom as well, just for storage. The attic bathroom is tiny so we used the ground floor bathroom as well as the bedroom. It took a while to remember where we had left things so there was a lot of running up and down the stairs between the four floors but I think that helped to deal with all the calories we'd consumed at the many excellent local restaurants!

We could not ask for a better place to use a the base for our Cornwall holiday. Close to the harbour with fantastic views and easy access to stores and restaurant the Artists Harbour was perfect for our needs. We would absolutely book this place again.

We had such a fabulous stay at Artists Harbour. We were very lucky with the weather but that's not the whole story. We were a two couples sharing a holiday by the sea and catching up with old friends. It worked perfectly for that. Although we got the lovely attic room with the fantastic view over St Ives harbour our friends were perfectly happy with the delightful lower ground floor bedroom as they love baths rather than showers. And we would all wind down in the lounge and enjoy the twilight harbour views in the evening. We took our dog and she was happy in her crate in the bunk-bed room and loved the early morning runs across the beach just opposite. The cottage is in the ideal location - just off the harbour drag but really central to everything. The parking, although a 20 min trek up the hill, wasn't a problem as we hardly left St Ives. Our friends bought a weekly parking ticket online that worked well for them. We also thought Orange Roofs were brilliant too. Communication was great and there app was very handy. They were also really helpful when we lost one of the door keys - sorry again. It was such great week we may well be back. But can we order the sunshine again too! Many thanks. x

Artists Harbour is such a lovely house close to the harbour and shops/restaurants. Well equipped and lovely views. From booking Orange Roofs have been brilliantly keeping us informed about everything. Nothing was an issue to them. We had such a lovely break

The location is very central just a few steps to the picturesque harbour. The accommodation was nice and comfortable ( beds especially) . Parking is a bit of an issue but it's the same for everyone staying in the centre. We will definitely return to St Ives it's so beautiful.

Orange roofs were tremendously helpful from beginning to end from directions and instructions to restaurant recommendations. Instructions for arrival and departure were detailed and made our experience easy. Parking is difficult in at ives but, again, orange roofs did all they could to make this as easy as possible offering the owners space nearby and a space at the rugby club. We used the latter, quite a walk away but we didn't need a car at all from the beginning to the end of the holiday because at ives has all you need and so we just forgot about the car. The house itself is located just off the harbour so perfect for access to shops, restaurants, beaches and activities. It is dog friendly so perfect for us and our working cocker spaniel. If you find walking difficult it is quite a hill with luggage and up a couple of flights but that's st ives generally and it didn't deter us at all. The height gives you the fabulous views from the second and third floor over the harbour. So it's well worth it. The house is well stocked with everything you need and has lovely fresh white linen plus we had a small starter pack with milk, bread, eggs etc. The basics but a good start for the first mornings breakfast. The only negative comment (and I'm being a bit picky here) is that the blinds could do with a repair/changing as they are a little tired but I guess that's constant sea air for you. We went at the end of the season so the whole house would have had a full season of visitors and use. All in all would throughly recommend the property and orange roofs as a company to book with. We will certainly be back! Emma
