About Sea Fever

* 19/11/24 - Please note from 06/01/25 - 21/02/25 Back Road East will be closed. Wales & West Utilities will be carrying out essential gas pipe upgrades and this work is anticipated to be disruptive. There may be limited car access to the cottage during this time and the work may extend beyond 21/02/25. There will also be the possibility that the gas supply is turned off for a day at a time which would impact heating and hot water. Please contact a member of the Orange Roofs Team if you have any questions before booking.** Sea Fever is a fantastic dog-friendly St Ives holiday cottage in the much sought-after area of Downalong. It will draw you back time after time. The reason the pull will be so strong is hopefully fairly obvious from the photos; the sea views are jaw-dropping from the kitchen, dining and living area and made all the more real by folding back the bi-fold doors creating an extension of the living area onto a sun trap outside space. The sun-drenched balcony gives you breath-taking views of Smeatons Pier, the St Ives Harbour beach and beyond to St Ives bay coastline reaching as far as Gwithian Towans.

Those same views will be the first thing you see when you open your eyes dreamily from the king-size bed pillows; what a way to wake up! This top-floor bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, TV and plenty of storage space. Now let's walk you through this fabulous house starting from the ground floor; with a door at the lower street level (accessed through a gated and cloistered area), you have the wet room and utility area (with washing machine and tumble dryer) which is super handy for coming in off the beach, taking a hot shower and storing beach wear, buggies, dog towels and anything else which can live at ground level before heading upstairs to the heart of this gorgeous St Ives cottage.

The first floor is then reached by a solid, spiral staircase architecturally designed to be sturdy and attractive at the same time. On this floor, you have the twin bedroom of two 3ft single beds (which can also be a super king-size bed  (in width only) if desired using the zip 'n' link bases) with its own en-suite shower room and TV. The front door off Back Road East also comes into the first-floor area.

The same wonderful staircase then leads you invitingly to the kitchen, dining and living area which captivates you from the moment you walk in. You can't help but be drawn to the sea views welcoming you instantly to this self-catering accommodation in St Ives. Finally, climbing the final set of stairs (this time wooden), you will arrive at the top floor bedroom where the sea views change enticingly throughout the day.

This St Ives holiday cottage is equipped to offer a seamless and relaxing self-catering holiday for couples or a family of four. The kitchen has integrated appliances; dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, tall fridge and freezer. The dining table seats four easily and the l-shaped sofa is comfortable and a great spot to relax and watch TV or gaze out to the fabulous sea views. It is stylishly furnished and decorated with some stunning pieces of art from Emma Williams and several local artists, as well as glassworks by Jo Downs. WiFi means you can stay in touch with friends and family plus use the Smart TV in the living room to catch up on programmes you miss due to having so much fun on the beach during the day!

Up to two well-behaved and well-mannered dogs are very welcome at Sea Fever, all we ask is that you let us know the age and breeds of your dogs (even their name so we can make friends with them too!). We also ask you to travel with their crate (if they are used to one) and dog beds and towels so they make themselves at home just as much as you. Remember they aren't allowed in the bedrooms or on furniture in their holiday home even if they're allowed at home! Take note that the property is set over four floors with two solid spiral staircases so please take this into account when you consider whether the house is suitable for you and your dog(s).

The gemstone of Sea Fever is also the fact it has one allocated parking space in the Porthgwidden permit-only parking car park, which is just a couple of minutes' walk away from the cottage.

To recap, this wonderful holiday cottage is located in the heart of St Ives close to all beaches, shops, restaurants, galleries, bars and pubs. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The king-size bedroom is on the top floor and has wonderful sea views with its own en-suite which has a bath with shower, WC and wash basin. The other bedroom is on the first floor and can be a twin bedroom or super-king bed, it also has its own en-suite with shower, WC and wash basin. Sea Fever is pet-friendly and has parking for one car very nearby.

Lovely stay! Great view and the weather turned out to be so warm for November. A lot of stairs for our miniature dachshund but even that couldn't put a dampener on a wonderful week. Thank you.

Absolutely loved this property. What's not to love. The most amazing views. Whatever the weather it's WOW. Luxurious and comfortable. Immaculately clean. Great communication with Orange Roofs. Would not hesitate booking via them again. Once I had mastered the stairs I was fine. It definitely needs taking into consideration when you book though. Good to have a parking spot too. 5 * property. The only thing I'd recommend is some blinds on the bifolds. When the sun was shining it was extremely hot.

A lovely house in a perfect location, with amazing views over the harbour. The house had everything in it you could need and a lot of extras to make it a great holiday stay. The spiral stairs (esp down to ground floor level) are small, so could be in issue if you have limited mobility, or big luggage! The lower bedroom is also small & has no view, but this wasn't an issue for us either. Would highly recommend the property, and Orange Roofs were great too!

We have stayed several times at Sea Fever over the last few years and it is a perfect place to enjoy a holiday in St Ives. The balcony with a harbour view is wonderful - I love the view. The house is perfectly equipped and very comfortable. Looking forward to my next visit.

Sea Fever wow to start with what a view it's simply amazing from the balcony and even better from the bedroom what a view to wake up to every morning! All the interiors are top quality, and all spotless! When we arrived there was a lovely welcome package fresh bread milk eggs biscuits butter all locally sourced coffee pods for the machine flowers and a lovely welcome card. From the time I booked the communication was great up to the time we left! Thank you ORANGE ROOFS! We had a lovely week!

Sea Fever is a stunning property with everything you could possibly need for a great holiday in St Ives. The views are stunning and the property is extremely well laid out. One of the best places I have stayed in St ives. And the reserved parking is a huge bonus.

A fantastic property, set in a brilliant location, with high-quality fixtures and fittings. Great views across St Ives Harbour, very convenient parking a 3min walk away and a highly recommended place to stay when in St Ives.

We visited this house over 10 years ago and it's just as good and well maintained now.
Views amazing. Location amazing. You need to be able to navigate stairs though.
Highly recommend!

Had a throughly enjoyable New Year at Sea Fever, it is a great location if you know the area and you have everything you need. The specification is high quality and the views are stunning. Having access externally through the Utility Room is also great, that is what we tended to use and would be even better after a day on the beach.

This is an amazing property. Although it is set on four floors, this adds to the authenticity of it. Loved the concrete spiral staircase, the artwork throughout, the nespresso milk frother!, and most importantly the fantastic views. Unrivalled I would suggest.

High quality facilities, and the house was spotlessly presented.

I'd like to thank the Orange Roofs team for their customer service. I can't fault it.

Just a lovely week at Sea Fever. The balcony really opens up the front room and was lovey to sit out and have breakfast on, in October!

Quiet, warm and everything you need, and literally a stones throw from the harbour front. Car parking space is close by so getting to and fro is very easy.

We did (attempted) so surfing so having the wet room and space downstairs was ideal. A really good set up all round. Faultless.

A beautiful house, with everything you need for a perfect stay. Thank you so much!

Wonderful place to stay - fabulous location and unrivalled views across the harbour and beyond. The house itself is very well equipped and comfortable and the welcome pack very much appreciated after our long journey. Great to have parking close by too.

We have been going to St Ives for many years now and can honestly say that Sea Fever is the best property we have found (and we have looked at a great number online).

It's location cannot be bettered - it is moments from the centre of St Ives and the Harbourside yet it is so quiet inside. It's four storey layout makes the best of everything and the view from the lounge - especially when the balcony bifold doors are open is absolutely amazing. When you walk into the kitchen/lounge and look out of the window - WOW is an understatement - the view of the harbour and far side of St Ives is amazing.

The balcony gets the sun from morning until evening.

Every room is so light and bright and the decor and furnishings are of excellent quality. The beds are very comfy and the showers are great - nice and powerful.

There is an array of beach items in the basement - everything you could need whatever your age.

So, would I recommend this property - ABSOLUTELY YES.

Fantastic holiday home in a great location! Kitted out with high spec appliances with everything you need to self cater plus more, such as beach chairs and games.
Fabulous welcome basket too which meant we settled in quickly. The only slight downside was being unable make the most of our first and last day due to being unable to get the key and therefore car park pass before 4pm - yet having to vacate the space by 10am as the pass has to be left in the apartment. An automated text and email was sent at 4pm, a more personal touch by letting us know we could get in earlier even if only by an hour would've been amazing. Or a different system for parking. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.

Management comments:

Thank you for your review Emma. I am sorry you couldn't get in before the check-in time of 4pm on the day of your arrival. The housekeeping and maintenance teams have just 6 hours to turn the house around from the previous guests in readiness for a new guest arrival where the house and its contents need to be as good as new as possible. This all takes time and so we can't always let people in earlier but, where we can, we always get in touch and share the good news! The housekeeper has the parking space during the changeover day to make their lives easier lifting heavy linen bags and cleaning materials to and from the house rather than needing to do this from a public car park a longer walk away.

Fabulous property with an outstanding view!
Facilities excellent we were two couples and we couldn't have asked for more.
My only comment to anyone reading this is it would not suit anyone with walking disabilities due to the spiral staircases.
Other than that fantastic and would book again.

Sea Fever must be one of the best place to spend your holiday in St Ives!
It is a well equipped and very tastefully decorated house in an excellent location, close to everything, but still not too close to the busy waterfront.
Rooms are small, but still everything has been fitted in.
We were so happy for the private parking!
Communication with Orange Roofs and all practicalities were excellent too and we can definitely recommend any rental from them.

A beautifully designed 5* property, sparkling clean, with top quality fittings & an amazing view over the harbour from the 1st floor terrace. The location is superb allowing easy access to both sides of the headland. Parking was close by. A delightful stay & recommended 100%

This is the third time we have stayed at Sea Fever and, from walking through the front door, to opening the bifold doors in the lounge, everything you see is a WOW! It is so well laid out, there are so many extra touches and you can tell that everything is of the highest quality. If you are looking for 5* quality, close to the beach and shops with an amazing view from a balcony, you will not find a better place to stay.

Aug 15 2022

The views from Sea Fever are simply stunning especially from the main bedroom on the top floor. It is equipped to a very high standard and has everything you could possibly need. The ground floor wet room is very useful for hanging wetsuits and washing off sandy feet. The L shaped sofa in the living area was big and comfy. The upstairs bathroom is very roomy and the 2 additional en-suite shower rooms were very useful being a family with 2 teenage sons. I would say if you have small children the spiral staircases could be a bit tricky. We have had absolutely gorgeous weather and haven't seen a cloud all week. I'm not complaining but the living area did get rather warm with the sun shining through the Bi-Fold doors all day, maybe a blind would make this better? There were however 2 Dyson fans in the bedrooms. Overall I would recommend this property and would stay here again just for the views!

Having booked to stay in Sea Fever in 2019, we finally got to spend a week there. The view from the living room balcony was mesmerising, even during the frequent rain showers, and the house was decorated beautifully. We loved all the art, especially Jo Downs' glasswork. Everything was anticipated by Orange Roofs, including leaving us generous supplies of basics - plus Prosecco! The professionalism of the staff at Orange Roofs was remarkable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Sea Fever is a marvellous place to stay in St Ives - very well equipped kitchen, really comfy beds and a lovely balcony overlooking the harbour. The house has been so imaginatively designed - very light and with really good art on the walls. I have always enjoyed staying there.

Appearances can be deceptive. On arrival Sea Fever looks like an unassuming home in the Downalong area of St Ives. But climb the spiral staircase and WOW the view is spectacular. It's even better from the top floor bedroom with amazing views looking down on the harbour and beyond. The house itself is beautifully presented with comfortable seating making the most of that view. The kitchen is well stocked and the welcome pack much appreciated after a long drive down. The Prosecco went down a treat. From the entrance down the spiral staircase there's a laundry room and shower, great if you've spent the day at the beach. It's in a great location close to all the beaches, cafes, restaurants and shops. The parking just a few minutes walk away is a bonus. Housekeeping were excellent leaving the place spotless for us to enjoy. There was only the two of us so we had plenty of space to move around. I found the spiral staircase a little tricky to climb and that was my only negative but I am nearly sixty. Overall a beautiful place to stay with fabulous views being the star attraction. Thanks Orange Roofs for having this little gem on your books.

On arrival what first amazes you is the breathtaking view, we all found it difficult to leave, also we had been left a fabulous selection of local goodies which were all very welcome after a long drive. We had all been to St Ives many times before , but agreed this was the best we had stayed in. Orange Roofs are the best booking company I've dealt with , when booking they were so helpful and you felt they really wanted to do their best for you , great advise on everything . While stopping our toaster broke it was attended to almost immediately, and they sent a charming young lady to replace it , she said she'd only been there 3 weeks. Thank you for all your attention it's the second time we've booked with you .I would throughly recommend you..and thanks to the owner for the lend of the house.

We've known about Sea Fever for a long time but it's taken until now for us to book - it was definitely worth waiting for! We spent four nights and it's been the perfect break. The house is well appointed, comfortable and has everything you could want. It has been thoughtfully renovated by the owners and everything is sheer quality. The view of the bay from the lounge and upstairs bedroom is stunning - especially the sunrise and the parking space nearby is definitely a bonus, although I wouldn't recommend going in too big a car - the roads in St Ives can be a bit of a challenge!

Jan 28 2022

This is a stylishly renovated cottage in a fabulous position. The little balcony is a real bonus. The attention to detail and quality of decoration and furnishing is outstanding. We loved the beautiful artwork and really comfortable beds - and whatever the weather we enjoyed sitting and watching the changing view. The ground floor utility room is a real bonus because it allows you to shed wet/sandy boots and coats plus having the washing machine and drier and the shower makes this a really practical cottage for both winter and summer visits. Our only concern was that for four adults the living space is a little tight ( eg four adults sitting at the table was a bit of a squeeze). But that is a minor point compared to the overall experience and we ate out most of the time. Final point - what a joy to find such a fabulous place is dog friendly !!!

Sea Fever had everything you could ever want in a holiday cottage and so much more! Everything was thoroughly clean and sparkling and the equipment provided in the kitchen/dining area was beyond expectations. The location of the cottage and view from the balcony and top bedroom were lovely. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here and would recommend Orange Roofs as a letting agent.

We knew from booking the holiday home it was going to be special but we were totally overwhelmed by how amazing Sea Fever and its location were. Everything in Sea Fever has been chosen to reflect the location and local businesses. We loved all the specially chosen artwork. We couldn't have picked a better location. Parking on your doorstep, three absolutely stunning beaches within walking distance and so many amazing restaurants and cafes. Thank you to the owners for sharing their piece of heaven with those fortunate to stay there. We would love to return soon.

The view over the harbour from the balcony is incredible. The property is very tastefully decorated, all the contents are of a high quality and it is spotlessly clean. Just a few roads up from the harbour is a great location. The only negative was the tight spiral staircases between floors which could be an issue for e.g. young children or anyone who is less mobile. Thanks!

Sea Fever is one of the best holiday lets we have ever stayed in. It is in a perfect position overlooking the harbour and the balcony enhances the experience. It is beautifully appointed with top quality furnishings and kitchen equipment. The bathrooms had lots of quality towels. The whole place was comfortable and welcoming. We are visiting again next year when let's hope things will have settled down with the pandemic.

Well we are back from the most amazing week at sea fever in st ives. What a beautiful place it is. We loved every second of being there. So relaxing and that view is just incredible. The house it self is like home from home. There's everything you need and more in the kitchen with top of the range stuff. It's a perfect week away to just unwind and relax. We loved the beds they are so comfortable. Everywhere was spotless when we got there and could tell it had been cleaned from top to bottom. Sea fever is in the perfect location in at ives. Walking distance to the little beach at the front and all the shops and restaurants. I even walked my dog in my pjs most mornings on the beach it's that close. I would highly recommend sea fever, we will be back! I can't wait to come back to st ives and use orange roofs again. They have been great with our booking even through COVID. We were the first family to holiday in Sea Fever after lockdown & it was such a treat to get away to such a wonderful seaside property. Everything was sparkling clean so we were able to completely relax & enjoy the amazing views from the balcony & plenty of long walks with our puppy who loved his first holiday by the sea. This property is exceptionally well appointed & had everything we needed - a real home from home! Thank you to everyone at Orange Roofs who worked tirelessly to make our stay really special.

We have been here every year and I have lost count now. Beautiful views and all the comforts you need in such a snug cottage. Thank you 5 star

Beautifully views and equipped to a high standard with everything you could possible need. Loads of Jo Downs which I love and great furnishings and art The property is over four floors and going from top to bottom and back up definitely gave my muscles a good work out. I was not sure about the spiral staircase but I soon got used to it One of the best properties we have ever stayed in - but then it was booked through Orange Roofs so i would not expect anything else Plenty of room and storage and it was great to have somewhere to bring our mini dachshund to give him a bit of a dust off downstairs in the utility room before going upstairs He loved the balcony and watching the birds on the roof opposite as we both did Great just to be able to open the doors and sit out or in and still have a view So relaxing just to be able to sit and look at the harbour. We even had a lifeboat launch one night and we had an impressive view - luckily just training All in all a great property is tastefully designed and decorated and supplied with high end equipment and attention to detail Definitely a home from home - loved it!!

Our first experience of booking with Orange Roofs was a really good one. Quick and easy booking and confirmation process and very comprehensive arrival instructions. Sea Fever is a lovely property, it is clean and well presented. Very well located close to all amenities and the use of permit parking within easy walking distance which is rare to find in this area of St Ives. The fabulous views from the kitchen sink/lounge/balcony and master bedroom are a real bonus!

Fantastic views across the bay, clean, modern and well equipped. Suitable for 2 couples as has 2 large en-suite bedrooms, both with sea views. The welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, Prosecco and a Sea Fever souvenir was well received. Highly recommended. Orange Roofs were also very helpful with lots of information before we arrived in St Ives

Sea Fever is wonderful! Quaint but still with some nice touches of luxury. The view of St Ives harbor is fantastic. The bed was comfortable. The furnishings were lovely and the art throughout the place is a nice touch. It’s close to everything with a short walk. Highly recommended!

Sea Fever has really made the most of its location. The views from sitting room and main bedroom are exceptional and the balcony is a real treat, the glass balustrade keeping the wind at bay, allowing us to enjoy the views whatever the weather. The house was spotlessly clean and all the equipment was top quality and in brand new condition. We couldn’t fault it and enjoyed a wonderful week’s holiday with our daughter and small dog.

Sea Fever is an amazing modern apartment with exceptional views of St Ives Harbour and beaches with the added bonus of the brilliant balcony feature. The location of Sea Fever is perfect and literally a couple of minutes walk to all shops, bars and restaurants as well as all of St Ives stunning beaches. The Orange Roofs team had catered for everything and the apartment was absolutely spotless on arrival.

Following my review from our fabulous holiday at Sea Fever, I also wish to review Orange Roofs and say a big thank you for your wonderful service, which we found to be very friendly, extremely efficient and helpful. We can't recommend you enough and will certainly use you again in the future!

An exceptional property right in the heart of St Ives, with the galleries, shops, beaches and eateries right on your doorstep. We only used the car once on our weeks holiday as there is a train station within a 10 minute walk. We cannot fault this property, the wonderful views from the balcony, the light airy feel, the comfy beds, contemporary furniture, quality equipment and fittings, beautiful artwork and lots of little extra's. You will find it hard not relax here! We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return, but due to the nature of this property (being a four storey fisherman's cottage in a town centre) we struggled a bit with the two spiral staircases. Our dog as she was too scared to climb them, so we had to carry her up and down, which was a bit tricky as they are quite narrow. This may be a consideration for people with babies/young children or with mobility issues, although I am sure this would be the same with many of the properties in the heart of St Ives, where space is a premium, so don't be too out off by it as the property is wonderful in every other way!

We’ve been to St Ives 3 times now and this is definitely the best place we’ve stayed in. The cottage is beautifully finished and very well equipped. Location is perfect - Porthgwidden beach is about than 3 mins walk and Porthmeor is only a little further. The cottage is also close to 2 car parks which is handy! The team at Orange Roofs are super helpful and friendly and I would definitely recommend them and this cottage.

This is our 4th stay and we absolutely love it! A 10/10 place to stay. We will never get tired of this place, and the view. We will be coming here for many years to come. Everything you could need is so close to hand, the weather this time was a bit indifferent but still did not spoil our holiday. We had the footy to watch in the evenings whcih helped with our planning of evening meals and drinks, pubs with TVs. The only downside is going home, but we will be back.

We first came to St Ives in 1978 and stayed in a B&B on Atlantic Terrace. The fishermen were still actually living here then and could be seen mending their nets on Smeaton's Pier. Things have certainly changed over the many years we have been coming here , but the magic has never altered. Sea Fever has enhanced that. The view alone is enough to want to return but the cottage itself is wonderful with every need catered for. Weather has been fabulous, and it has been a joy to watch the baby seagulls on the roof below. I know the gulls are a pain sometimes but give them a break, they are probably feeding hungry chicks! Back soon I hope!

We've had a wonderful time at Sea Fever. It is a perfect spot for Porthmeor beach and all the lovely art galleries. Mixed weather but it didn't matter. Top tips: Watch the seals at the end of Smeaton's Pier every evening about 6pm. Life drawing on Wednesday evening at St Ives School of Painting. Yellow canary for coffees, sandwiches and pastries! Hope to be back soon!

Wow, what a holiday! Who needs an aeroplane to find the perfect destination. Whilst browsing the net I wanted to find the perfect getaway that the whole family would enjoy (not an easy task trying to tick every box). I was swept along romanticising about the Cornish holidays I used to enjoy as a child. Then I came across Sea Fever in St Ives! That's the one!!!

This beautifully well presented cottage, with stunning balcony views across the harbour and beach, is a must if you're planning a holiday in St. Ives. With its high end decor and well maintained facilities, I can't recommend it enough. We're currently enjoying our third stay here, and it's as good as ever!

We have stayed in many rentals in St Ives and this is right up there among the best. Everything is properly thought out and executed, the fixtures and furniture are high-quality, and it manages to be both contemporary and cosy. Both bedrooms have an en suite bathroom, but there is also a third bathroom/wetroom on the lowest level along with the laundry, with its own 'secret' entrance. So you can come in from the beach covered in sand, or a hike covered in mud, and clean up before entering the main part of the house. For some reason I found this immensely satisfying. The harbour view from the living room/kitchen and balcony is great, the view from the bedroom above is even better. This is a house one leaves with great regret and many happy memories.

We have stayed many times in St Ives in different types of accommodation but this has to be the best!! It’s so pretty, filled with gorgeous ornaments and fabulous pictures but so tastefully done, we stayed with another couple and it was so great to have our own ensuits but best of all the views are fabulous. We stayed for a Christmas break and to look out a the pier all lit up was magical. We will be back
