About Penhallow

Penhallow is a luxury holiday cottage in St Ives with the added benefit of parking for one car very nearby. It has added subtle and modern luxury touches to an already beautiful traditional fishing cottage. No area has been left unthought of, maximising space and comfort. With comfortable furniture, a well-equipped kitchen, high standard of presentation, we guarantee you will ease into the coastal comfort of this wonderful St Ives cottage straight away.

Not only does the property host a beautiful interior, perfect for a family stay or cosy couple getaway, but it is also in an idyllic location. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour at the back of Mount Zion, one of the oldest parts of St Ives. The front door is accessed by a passageway meaning there is very little footfall past Penhallow. However, this enjoyable sense of privacy does not mean you're far from all your St Ives necessities which can be reached in a matter of seconds! You won't feel short of space at Penhallow as it is spread across three floors, however, due to it being a traditional fishing cottage you still get the cosy comfort of a home from home. As you enter the property through the front door on the first floor you are welcomed by the newly designed open-plan living room and kitchen. Both areas are stylishly decorated to reflect the cottage and its beautiful seaside surroundings. In the living room, there is a comfy sofa accompanied by a large plush armchair, which is perfect for snuggling up on in front of Penhallow's wood burner or simply chilling out after a day at the beach. If it's a rainy evening and you're looking for some at-home entertainment, there is a Smart T.V in Penhallow's living room, so you can sit and enjoy some family favourites!

When you walk through the living room you come to the fully equipped kitchen. The marble countertops provide the perfect base for whipping up a delicious feast. You'll find all the utensils and amenities you may need for home cooking including the basics such as a fridge-freezer, oven and grill with a built-in microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster - the lot! The washer/dryer is also located in the kitchen. If you find yourself in need of a sit-down in between the meal prep, you'll find a perfect spot next to the window. Take a look out and enjoy the beautiful glimpse of St Ives Harbour reminding you how close you are to the bustling centre of St Ives.

The door to the ground floor room is in the kitchen. It is a flight of stairs down to the large basement room with a comfortable king-sized bed and en-suite shower room. The interior of this room and en-suite has been beautifully hand-finished. One of our favourite features that you'll find in this shower room is the porthole mirror. This is a porthole that has been taken from a ship and upcycled into a beautiful bathroom accessory!

The twin bedroom and the second king-sized bedroom are on the second floor, one flight of stairs up from the lounge (please note there is a step up to the bedroom and to the bathroom from the landing). The newly refurbished king-size room offers a light and comfortable space with storage and a TV for those mornings you just don't want to leave the bed (not sure that really happens in St Ives!). The twin bedroom shares the same St Ives theme as the rest of the house and it has not been overlooked in the refurbishment with new beds, furniture and finishing touches! Penhallow's family bathroom is also located on this floor with both a shower and a free-standing bath.

Outside the front door is a private little courtyard where guests are welcome to sit and bask in the sun or place their wet clothes to dry. It's a handy little area for storing beach essentials too such as bodyboards, buckets and spades.
The location of this cottage is almost unbeatable. You are situated on one of the oldest parts of St Ives; Mount Zion, meaning you're a matter of moments from the sea and sand as well as the harbour front just being on your doorstep. Fancy a bit of shopping? Fore Street, where a large majority of St Ives' fantastic independent shops are located a very short walk away too. Your closest beach is the St Ives Harbour beach, less than a minute's walk from the front door, perfect for sunbathing on a hot summer's day or strolling along to take in all of the St Ives fishing histories on a rainy one!

There are many places to eat and drink within a short stroll from Penhallow so, whether it's lunch, dinner, cakes and coffees, it's all on your doorstep! What is also quite literally on your doorstep, is the Mount Zion Coffee Hut. The coffee here is created with love; there is no stopwatch on how fast it can be prepared and so you are positively encouraged to stop, take a moment, and savour the anticipation of your morning coffee while looking at St Ives harbour across to the RNLI Lifeboat Station on West Pier.

To re-cap, Penhallow is a luxury self-catering cottage in St Ives and it sleeps six in three bedrooms and has two bathrooms. It has a private small courtyard and is within moments of St Ives Harbour and town centre. It comes with the benefit of parking for one car on Westward Road which is a 5 to 8 minute walk from the cottage. Porthmeor beach is just a 5-minute stroll from the cottage.

A wonderful property! The location was perfect - literally a short stroll to the harbour side by the Sloop Inn. We've been returning to St Ives for around 20 years and this is one of our fave properties. We stayed with our daughter 21 and 17 they had the top bedrooms and we had the basement with ensuite. The way the property is laid out is perfect. Very clean, nice finishes and all lovely!

Superb location, beautifully appointed and every detail was thought through. Penhallow felt more like a home than a holiday rental due to its attractive fixtures and decor. The little outside terrace and parking were the icing on the cake.

A beautiful, cosy and well furnished cottage. Comfortably sleeps 6 adults or in our case, 4 adults and 2 children. Lovely modern en suite bathrooms and kitchen. Perfect location for access to high street and beach front. Would highly recommend using island car park for both long stay parking and a close enough location for unloading. Would definitely consider returning next spring.

We had a great week at Penhallow over Christmas with the whole family (parents, grandparents and kids). The cottage is kitted out really well with modern appliances and it was nicely decorated for Christmas. Even though it is an old fisherman's cottage, it didn't feel cramped for 6 staying, including 4 adults. The kitchen table extends as well meaning we could have Christmas lunch with plenty of space. Its location is really convenient, right in the heart of St Ives and meant my parents could walk around town without too many steel hills to walk up or down. It is a short walk to the Mermaid which is one of our favourite restaurants. Unloading from the car on the Wharf wasn't too much of a problem either. Would definitely recommend.

Communication was excellent and they even let us know the cottage was available early which was a lovely touch. Comfortable, stylish, clean and cosy. A great way to explore the area especially as we didnt have a car but there was so much to do and explore. The cottage is situated right in the heart of the town …perfect! Would definitely stay there again! Thank you.

We had the most wonderful week staying in Penhallow. The cottage exceeded our expectations and was immaculate. The cottage is in the heart of St Ives but as it's tucked back from the harbour, it was very quiet. We can not wait to revisit.

Fab property in a brilliant location. Close to all of the town beaches, as well as restaurants/bars for food & shops etc. Really well equipped & best of all the master bedroom being in the cellar was so quiet!! No seagulls waking us up. We'll definitely be back.

Another fantastic stay with a property from the ever reliable and impressive Orange Roofs. Penhallow is our 4th stay with Orange Roofs and our 3rd in the same square on Mount Zion. The location being right on the harbour is incredible and perfect for a young family for easy access to the beach, ice cream shop and the Sloop Inn for a well earned pint of Korev to end the day.

The house itself is to a very high standard and finished brilliantly in a cosy, modern and clean style. The downstairs master bedroom was particularly welcoming instead of being up high where in St Ives you can be woken up early by the morning chorus of the resident gulls. Being on the ground floor (you enter the property on the 1st floor), this meant we had the best sleep we've had in St Ives.

The private garden at the front of the property (which is actually the back of the neighbouring properties and therefore very well secluded) was incredibly handy for all our beach equipment too.

The only downer was that Mount Zion Coffee was closed due to getting a new roof meaning I couldn't wake to my morning Ava'Banana but it just means we'll have to return again next year. ;)

Penhallow is in an ideal position being in the centre of St Ives but in a quiet pathway/alley with little or no passers-by which makes it very peaceful. The cottage has been beautifully renovated and is extremely comfortable and well fitted out with all that you would need for a superb stay. The little terrace was great for an evening drink or barbeque. We had a week but wish it had been more. My wife and I came with our son and 2 year old grandson. We were so close to the Harbour, Porthgwidden and Porthmeor beaches as well as the shops, restaurants and cafes it was easy to leave the car and walk everywhere. We will most certainly be back with our daughter, son in law and 2 grandchildren who are 7 and 5 years old. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms make an ideal cottage for a stay with family or friends. I could not recommend this more!

Brilliant. Penhallow was in the perfect spot for us, literally 30 seconds from the beach (grandkids with us). It was bright, clean, and well fitted out with everything we'd need. Lovely rooms, and very comfortable beds! And it was quiet, despite being so close to the beach area. When we go back to St Ives, it'll no doubt be the first place we look to for our stay.

We have just returned from a week in Penhallow, through Orange Roofs, the house was beautiful and was in a perfect location. They had supplied everything we could possible need to make our stay perfect. Orange Roofs were amazing as usual, form the messages we received on arrival, right through to our departure date. We have been coming to St Ives for years now, and this was one of the nicest houses so far, we would highly recommend it,.

beautiful property, superbly considered. the rooms are well proportioned and all amenities are extraordinarily well appointed…NOTHING is 'just for renters', rather every appliance and piece of kit is what you would choose for yourself..be it the oven, cooktop, dishwasher, tapware or even the carving knives… such generosity of spirit. we adored penhallow and being part of the warm open st ives community.

Penhallow is the quintessential Cornish cottage with a little bit of glam thrown in. It's been the perfect warm and cosy retreat for us in some pretty stormy weather! So much care and attention has been lavished on this little retreat and I'm certain it won't disappoint! Great stay in a great place. One big thank you!

Beautifully furnished cottage ensuring a comfortable ,relaxing holiday. We loved everything about our stay at Penhallow. The cottage was beautifully furnished to provide the maximum comfort for our stay. My daughters loved the basement bedroom and very much regarded it as their 'girl cave'. It is in an ideal position for the harbour, shops and restaurants and the proximity of different beaches. I would have no hesitation recommending Penhallow to other holiday makers. We can't wait to book again!

We stayed at Penhallow in St Ives last week, what a lovely cosy , luxurious, clean , cottage it was. just off the harbour tucked away, a few minutes walk to so many restaurants and pubs. We were delighted we found Orange Roofs to book our stay, very friendly and helpfully staff which we have passed your contact details over to our friends.

Lovely house, really well kept and nicely decorated. Steps there a bit awkward checking in and out but not a massive issue. Parking on the harbour is interesting but actually I always founds a space. St ivies itself it just absolutely packed, the main streets full of people almost all the time. Perhaps a sign of the times but it wasn't relaxing to be there at all. When you get on the beach it's great, lovely beaches close by. Highlights were the Tate and also a beach further out for surfing lessons NT Gwithian it was a bit more relaxing. Minak theatre worth booking to look around and the beach nearby too again, more relaxed, and absolutely stunning. We managed to eat out twice and would recommend Porthminster kitchen and the Searooms very highly. Even though it's so busy the people of at Ives were very welcoming. The house is great but I'd skip st Ives for a while.

Discreetly tucked away yet right in the heart of St Ives Harbour, we found Penhallow to be the perfect base for our week long stay. Easily accommodated a family of 5, all mod cons and very tastefully furnished and decorated - we had a fantastic trip. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Penhallow for the 2nd week of our Cornwall holiday. The house has a fantastic location, literally a stone's throw from the harbour. Comfort-wise, the house is perfect. We knew that there was going to be some renovation done before we arrived but we didn't realise they would be doing the entire house so it was a lovely surprise! It's a 3 story house that has been renovated and refurnished from top to bottom. New kitchen, new bathroom, new carpets, new furniture and newly decorated. The standard is very high and the furnishings, fixtures and fittings are lovely. The owner has clearly put a lot of effort in and obviously has a keen eye for detail. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, all brand new of course! There are 3 TVs, excellent wi-fi and if Alexa is your thing, then there's two of those as well. All in we had a great time and very much enjoyed staying at Penhallow.

We loved this cottage. We had 4 teenage girls with my husband and I. There was plenty of room. The bedroom on the lower floor has its own on suite which was like a second master. The two other bedrooms on the top floor were lovely as well. The mattresses were very comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of room with seating for 6. It was also fully stocked with kitchenware and glasses. What we loved most about the cottage was the location. We were 50 yards from the beach yet not on the beaten path. We had our own patio to enjoy as well. We will definitely be back!

A clean and cosy well appointed home in a wonderful position close to the harbour in St Ives. We did think that the small garden was attached to the house and although not a problem for us if we had have had a dog it may have been. If we came to St Ives again we would definitely book this house again.

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in St Ives .Orange Roofs are so well organised and their communication is excellent. The accommodation sleeps 6 comfortably and the basement was just right for my daughter and husband as they had their own front door and toilet .The kitchen was well equipped and was the hub for family meals . We were 2 minutes away from all St Ives had to offer. The beds were very comfy and the bathroom gorgeous. We hope to.go back to St Ives next year and would not hesitate to use Orange Roofs again .

Penhallow is a wonderfully modernized three bed-roomed house right by the harbour in St Ives. The house had everything we needed - a fully equipped modern kitchen - very comfortable lounge with wood burner and smart TV. Perfectly adequate Internet access. It has a nice spacious modern bathroom with bath and separate shower. The 3 bedrooms are of good size - two of them having flat screen TVs. The basement bedroom has its own toilet and would be a great room for a couple of teenagers. This was our first visit to St Ives and it took my wife and I about 15 minutes to fall in love with it. There are so many wonderful sandy beaches within walking distance and the coastal walks on our doorstep were stunning in both directions. When we did take the car out, The Lizard, Lands End, St Michael's Mount and Mousehole were all within a short drive. The town itself is charming with quaint little streets housing lots of lovely shops and restaurants (to meet all budgets). If dog friendly restaurants are needed then I recommend The Loft, Scoff Troff Cafe and Hub. If the weather could be guaranteed I think we would holiday here every year. Have been back two days and we all miss St Ives and cannot wait to go back there.

We arrived on a cold, windy, wet afternoon and the heating was on, therefore we warmed up nicely. The gift pack was also most welcome. Good coffee, a decent bottle of red and some ridiculously lush scones with cream and jam. The accommodation suited us ideally being laid out as it is. The basement bedroom is private enough for an older/younger member of the family who wanted a little privacy. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and was a very sociable space as we did have several visitors over the weekend. Would highly recommend

Fantastic holiday in St Ives, lovely cottage very close to all amenities and Orange Roofs as a company were fantastic. If you fancy a break in St Ives which is amazing I can not think of a better place to stay.

We enjoyed a fabulous week at Penhallow. The cottage is superbly located within the heart of St Ives and within a few minutes walk of all of the beaches and amenities that the town has to offer. The cottage itself retains all of the charm of a fishermans cottage with steep stairs and an abundance of character, but has been sympathetically modernised and generously equipped to a very high specification. The cottage looks enticing in the photographs but genuinely must be seen in the flesh to be truly appreciated - it’s bigger than you would imagine and an extremely comfortable place to stay. I truly can’t imagine a more convenient and better place in which to base your break.

We come and spent the week at Pen-hallow for our honeymoon and had the most wonderful week the cottage is beyond beautiful it is so homely and comfortable. We were welcomed with a lovely little welcome pack "lovely little surprise after our trip down" the cottage is in a perfect location to everything you could need and want. It was clean and perfectly presented. We will definitely be returning in the near future for another family holiday. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place. Couldn't ask for anything better.

It's a lovely, clean, comfortable place to stay. It's close enough to the beaches, shops and harbour to be super-convenient, yet nicely tucked away in a little private corner of Downalong so it's still feels peaceful and relaxing. And the welcome pack with the coffee, wine, tea, milk and biscuits was such a personal and welcoming touch. We're very glad we discovered Orange Roofs!

A fab location, was exactly as the pictures show you. A lovely touch was the welcome gift of scones, cream, jam and wine. Orange Roofs communication was excellent and Sam called straight back to help sort a minor issue. Very quiet location despite being so close to the harbour front. restaurants and pubs minutes away, as are the beaches and galleries. A lovely stay in a great cottage, thank you.
