About Duck Down
Duck Down is on Teetotal Street in the very heart of Downalong in St Ives. This beautiful little St Ives holiday apartment is just moments from Porthgwidden and Porthmeor Beaches with St Ives Harbour being a minute’s stroll from the front door. Restaurants, coffee and cocktail bars, shops, galleries, bakeries, ice-cream parlours and delis are an easy, level stroll away yet Duck Down is tucked away offering a peaceful location where to retreat. Downalong is a very popular area to book a holiday cottage in St Ives due to its proximity to landmarks such as The Tate St Ives gallery, St Nicholas’ Chapel on The Island, Porthmeor Beach and St Ives Harbour. St Ives’ five beaches are within an easy walk from this romantic bolt hole with the furthest being Porthminster Beach which is just eight minutes away on foot. It is a peaceful area with traditional granite cottages where once fishermen and their wives used to work hard for a living.
Duck Down is a ground-floor, single-storey holiday apartment and is ideal for a single person or couple wishing to use it as a comfortable bolt-hole while exploring St Ives and beyond. The nearest car park is The Island which is a couple of minutes' walk to the front door. If that car park is busy, try Barnoon car park or St Ives Rugby Club which are both a longer walk away (up to twenty minutes walk) but offer a lot more spaces so less stressful! Duck Down is no more than eight minute walk from St Ives train station if you decide to avoid parking anxiety!
There is an open plan living, dining and kitchen area as you enter the front door of Duck Down. In the living area, there is a super comfy sofa, Smart TV, Alexa and warm flame-effect fire (with remote control), a breakfast bar with stools for dining in and a fully-equipped kitchen; expect pots, pans, crockery and cutlery for two as well as an oven, hob, kettle, microwave, toaster, filter coffee machine and washing machine.
A door leads from the living area into the cosy bedroom with a double bed, wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps. There is an en-suite shower room with WC, wash basin and shower cubicle. This gorgeous little holiday apartment has everything a couple needs for a relaxing, restorative and memorable experience in St Ives.
Bed linen and towels (please bring your own beach towels) are provided and of course, there is free WiFi. We are sorry but Duck Down does not accept dogs and does not offer allocated parking.
To re-cap, Duck Down is a one-bedroom self-catering holiday
apartment in St Ives which is in the much-sought-after area of
Downalong. It sleeps two and is on one level on the ground floor.
Bed linen and towels are provided. There is no parking and pets are
not allowed.

Just what we wanted from our accommodation, was a cosy house, no noise from other neighbours. Bedroom small but no issues , bath/shower is hard work for a taller person but we made do and wouldn't put us off staying again. Would love the option to take 1 dog there. Lovely location , really quiet.

Wonderful stay at Duck Down St Ives. Lovely cottage on a quiet street but very much at the centre of St Ives Harbour area. The cottage though small is perfectly furnished with a very comfortable bed and sofa. Would highly recommend.

Duck Down was the perfect cottage for us as I was
attending an Art course at St Ives Art school - just short walk
along the road. 5 minutes from all the beaches, shopping, Tate, and
10 minutes to Barbara Hepworth garden - heaven! But on a quiet
street.
Tiny cottage, well laid out and all the kit you could wish
for. Good shower, wonderful wood stove ( at the flick of a switch
.
We will definitely come back! Thank goodness we discovered
Orange Roofs .

Duck down was a brilliant location within St Ives. So close to porthmeor, porthgwidden and bamaluz beaches as well as the harbour and all the bars and restaurants. The accomodation was on the smaller side but perfect for a couple and it's on a nice and quiet street. Bus and train stations were approx 15min walk away.

A little traditional 2 room cottage with low ceilings and
door frames,so one has to "Duck Down" It is nice and clean with
modern fixtures and fittings in the kitchen/lounge and bathroom.
Tiny bedroom with comfy double bed.
A great location for a couple who are happy to take it easy
when holidaying in St Ives and to walk to the beaches, sights and
eateries.
The car parking can be hit and miss in this part of the
world. We got the week rover ticket from Cornwall council and
always got a spot in the island car park a few minutes walk away
but it was off season.
Orange roofs app worked well and great support through
booking, staying and on leaving day.
