Island Retreat

Island Retreat was/is an exceptional holiday let with open plan living and all you need. The location is perfect for access to beaches and all other amenities such as shops, pubs and restaurants. Orange Roofs as a letting agent are slick with booking and property information via their app. Cannot fault it.

We have stayed in many rental properties around St Ives. This was one we would return to. Comfortable, clean, well equipped and very close to the beaches.

Thank you Orange Roof for amazing service. The communication before, during and after was the best we have experienced and will definitely recommend you. Island Retreat is in a fantastic location in Downalong, the beaches are only moments away. The apartment was very clean, kitchen well stocked and spacious with its open plan layout. The welcome basket was a lovely touch too! I can't recommend this accommodation highly enough. We hope to be back again one day!

I cant recomend Island Retreat highly enough, this is the second time we have stayed here.
the fixtures and fittings are all first class, the beds are very comfortable and the house is spotless. The house is right on the doorstep of both Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches and only a 5 minute stroll to the harbour ,shops and restaurants so very conviently placed

Absolutely perfect beautiful property very clean very comfy and close to parking and the beach. It was loverly to arrive and have basics to be able to make a hot drink

We have just stayed at Island Retreat in St Ives for the 2nd time in 4 years. It was a thoroughly enjoyable holiday as usual. The apartment is beautifully appointed and everything was just perfect. I can honestly say that 'Orange Roofs' were absolutely brilliant as usual to deal with.

We stayed at the Island Retreat and it was a beautiful property and very clean.
Perfectly located just a few minutes walk away from the island and Porthmoer beach. A five minute walk and you are on the harbour too.

Just come back from a fabulous weekend in St.Ives, staying at The Island Retreat. The property itself was very modern and clean and well equipped (including outside shower for wetsuits and sandy feet!). The parking was a real bonus for St. Ives and the property was ideally located between Porthdwidden and Porthmeor beach! Would definitely recommend and will be returning !

We first stayed at this place 52 years ago with my percents, it was then a first floor flat , I was excited to book as we had two vey happy holidays at Rockcliffe and wow what a change, it's now a 3 bedroom Ed house and is finished to the highest standard.Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome pack, all high quality goodies, the house was immaculate we were so impressed that I booked for Sept 2023. I can't fault the position right by Porthwigdden beach and I can throughly recommend this property, Kim Vanderlee

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that property doesn't have a sea view and downstairs can be a little on the dark side. However the location is ideal for the beach, it's spacious, and comes with the added benefit of parking. There is everything you need to enjoy your holiday including 3 toilets! The property was beautifully presented and only wish we could have got in before 5pm, you do feel like you're missing a day of your holiday. Would happily stay here again.

We have stayed at Island Retreat many times now. The location is perfect for a family beach holiday. The on-site garage is a real bonus however I think this facility isn't available next year. This year we have had a lovely holiday and overall the accommodation was still good. There has been a change of ownership recently and we noticed a few little extra things that were missing, for example board games and dvds. The accomodations cleanliness is usually top notch however this year we didn't feel it was as good (dust under the fire place and on shelving). Outside area was covered in sand and hadn't been swept or washed from previous occupiers. The towels and bedding are lovely quality and the goody hamper left for us was lovely. We really do enjoy our stays at Island Retreat and would recommend the property. Orange Roofs are a great company to book through and their staff are very helpful.

The games, DVDs etc were removed during the pandemic and perhaps had not been returned given the change in ownership around the same time but we will happily suggest to Adam and Claire (the lovely new owners of Island Retreat) that some games would be a welcome addition to their holiday home. I will certainly pass on your comments to the housekeepers of Island Retreat about the cleanliness issues you found on arrival. We always encourage any disappointment in cleaning to be reported to us on the day of arrival so we can get it rectified that same day, the housekeepers do their best on busy changeovers but sometimes areas may get missed unintentionally and they are very happy to re-attend to recitfy things when asked.

Our 4th time at island retreat and again delivered 100% obviously one of the big pluses is parking…for anyone booking we have a Kia Sportage and fits in the garage no problem. Kitchen is very well equipped as this year we actually (well I) cooked breakfast most days, the outside shower is a godsend after a day on the beach of which you gave 2 within minutes to use…my favourite is Porthgwidden, your also close to some lovely eateries…The Loft, The Mermaid, The captains Table at The Sloop and Cafe Pasta are favourites of ours. Not the only property we've booked via Orange Roofs and definitely not the last…looking forward to our next visit

The people in the office and the house keeper, who we met, were exceptionally kind and helpful! We were delighted to find everything we needed waiting for us, from plenty of loo roll to a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge! Fresh milk, teas, coffee and even a loaf of delicious, local bread, eggs and Cornish butter were just what we wanted after our long journey- what an amazing treat! The towels were fresh and plentiful, the sheets and beds clean and comfortable -absolutely great! Being able to park in the garage took away all the stresses of unloading a car on a narrow street! We knew the location was perfect but the little things like dishwasher tablets and hand soap, just made everything so much easier - thank you!!

We had a great week over New Year at Island Retreat. A beautiful, well presented property with ample equipment and seating. The garage was a bonus. Would definitely use the property again.

Just had a fabulous week staying in Island Retreat.A perfect home from home.Well equipped with everything you could need.Our first time holidaying in November and it didn't disappoint.All the little touches like tea,coffee,hand soaps,washing up liquid etc were much appreciated.The location for us was perfect right between porthmeor and porthgwidden beaches and only 3 minutes down to the harbour.Having a private garage was an added bonus.Overall we had a very comfortable relaxing stay and we wouldn't hesitate to book this property again in the future.

Stayed at Island Retreat for a week, location was perfect, 5 minutes walk from the town centre, 2 mins walk to the beach. The added bonus was having a garage. The house was spotless and everything was made easy by Orange Roofs. Would love to come back and would certainly recommend staying here.

Beautifully decorated, very comfortable, amazing location. There is absolutely everything you need for a comfortable holiday stay. Plenty of storage space. Beds are very comfy. Everything is incredibly clean. Customer services are fantastic, also the app and text messages/email correspondence. Do not hesitate to use orange roofs and stay at Island retreat.

Excellent property. Well equipped plenty of space for six. Added bonus of garage. Unexpected extra`s milk etc. Lovely and clean throughout.

Once we worked out how to get there, and I got the knack of squeezing the car into the garage, access was fine. Being able to walk down the hill to the old town, and walk 30 seconds to check the surf at Porthmeor, was great!! The apartment was cosy, clean and functional - it fit 5 of us no problem at all, and had everything needed for our 4 night stay. Perhaps the only downside was the relative lack of windows or views - the windows are quite small (which is the case for lots of properties in the old town by the looks), and given where we were located, I guess we were imagining glimpses of the ocean, which we didn't have. Thus, it wasn't a place where you could while away a wet afternoon (we had a couple of those!!) staring out the window with a glass of wine in hand - although of course you could just walk down the hill and find a pub to do that in, so it wasn't an issue. Overall, our family of mum, dad and 3 kids really enjoyed it there.

We have been coming to St Ives for many, many years, and happened upon Orange Roofs and Island Retreat, purely by accident and what a find! We stayed at Island Retreat over Christmas 2019 for a week. Sam and her teams attention to detail is exceptional, from the time we booked, leading up to, during and even after the holiday - BIG THANKS TO YOU ALL! Island Retreat is a stunning property with everything you will need making it "home from home" and the addition of a garage was truly a bonus! The location cannot be faulted with both beaches and the town all within a 2 minute walk! Do not miss out on either Orange Roofs or Island Retreat!

We had a fantastic week at Island Retreat. We always come to st ives at this time of year and have stayed in many properties. We found it to be spotlessly clean, spacious and perfectly positioned for just about everything. Thoroughly recommended, just perfect!!

We had a lovely time at Island Retreat. We have been visiting St Ives for over 30 years and this was a great place to stay. There were 6 of us so full use was made of the whole upstairs and was good to have an en suite too. The garage was a huge advantage even though the weather was so good we never used the car once! Will definitely book to return. The Orange Roofs team were helpful and the booking process was very slick and we were kept informed every step of the way! Thank you.

Just returned from another great family holiday in St Ives. We have used Orange Roofs now for the last 4 St Ives holidays. We are a large family and have rented 3 properties this time with Orange Roofs. All the properties were immaculate, clean and decorated to a high standard. We will continue to use Orange Roofs for any future holidays in our favourite Cornish town.

Island Retreat is the perfect St Ives holiday home. It’s location, facilities and comforts are fantastic. We have been holidaying in St Ives for 25 years and have stayed in many different cottages as our family dynamics have altered, Thank you to Sam and Orange Roofs for superb, proactive and well considered communication throughout the process of booking and arriving at Island Retreat. Our welcome flowers and tray were much appreciated!! We would not hesitate to book Island Retreat again and will most certainly book with Sam at Orange Roofs in the future.

Excellent location, immaculately clean property with great facilities, would highly recommend this duplex apartment. It also came with a good size garage, which made life very easy as we didn’t need to drive around looking for a parking space. Well worth the money. Sam & Billie were superb at keeping us updated from the booking of the holiday right up to us leaving. Nothing was too much trouble and both were very helpful.

"Island Retreat" was everything we hoped it would be, and more! There were comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms, a beautiful kitchen and quality carpets. The kitchen was superbly equipped with many pots, pans, casserole dishes, even a full Denby dinner service including pasta bowls! There was plenty of storage for clothes, food, coats, shoes etc. The added bonus of a garage (tiled and heated!) took away the stress of worrying about parking during the Easter holidays. The apartment was spotlessly clean and there was even a beautiful vase of fresh flowers on the table. Sam and the team at Orange Roofs are excellent communicators and the whole admin process was very smooth. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Orange Roofs and Island Retreat. I would feel very confident about using them again next year!

We were pleasantly surprised to see that the website photos truly did represent the property, it was clean, tastefully decorated, fully equipped with everything you need and it felt like home. The instructions given by Orange Roofs were comprehensive and spot on making arrival and departure easy. The property is centrally located for everything St Ives has to offer, and the on site parking was a real bonus, our Kia Sportage fitted in snuggly.

The house is a stones throw from Porthwidden cove. The house had every amenity you could ask for. The house was clean and comfortable but homely. Just the best area to holiday beautiful StIves

Island Retreat is a wonderful base for a trip to St Ives. Seconds from the Island and tucked away in a private corner with the added bonus of a garage. The interior is finished to a high standard and provides everything you may need. Thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to the next one!

This cottage is in a great location, just around the corner from the beaches and within 5 minutes walk through the lovely cobbled streets to the town. It was extremely clean and very modern and very well equipped. Great having a garage( Ford Focus went in no problem) as car parks get very busy in high season. Service from Orange Roofs was excellent with clear instructions. Definitely would go back.

We have recently returned from our second successive annual stay at Island Retreat. This property is ideally located, being less than a 2 minute stroll to Porthgwidden beach and café. The central location lends itself very well to lazy days and evenings strolling around St Ives partaking of all that the local establishments have to offer. The interior of the apartment is immaculate and extremely well equipped and the provision of an on site garage is the icing on the cake ( or should I say the clotted cream in the scone). The service from Ross, Sam and the team at Orange Roofs is exemplary and we have no hesitation in recommending them. Roll on our next visit.

We have been renting accommodation in St Ives for the past 15 years, both as a couple and with family, and have a simple list of criteria we try to meet. This time, travelling with our daughter and 3 year old grandson, our priority was convenience. The location of Island Retreat couldn't be bettered, with 3 beaches within 5 minutes walk, parking on site, and the Norway Stores round the corner for our morning croissants. The accommodation itself is high quality, and exceptionally well equipped. The service from Orange Roofs was excellent with clear instructions and useful information transmitted by regular emails. The only thing missing from our list was a sea view. But, as someone once said, 'you can't have everything ' !

Island Retreat is a fantastic place to stay for a holiday right in the heart of St Ives. Nicely tucked away from the busy streets, but within 100 metres or so of two amazing beaches (Porthmeor and Porthgwidden). Then within a 5 minute walk, you are in the heart of St Ives, with restaurants, shops and amenities. I would highly recommend staying here and would certainly book through Orange Roofs again - their communication is the best I have experienced leading up to a holiday.

If you know St Ives, you’ll know this cottage is in a fantastic location...just around the corner from Porthgwidden beach. The cottage is modern, spacious and spotlessly clean - everything you want in a holiday home.

The location is unbeatable and the place is well appointed and pretty. Was there with the whole family and we had a blast. St Ives is a special place and Island Retreat made it even more special.

Well equipped and very clean. Location was perfect for walking. Really enjoyed our stay. The addition of fans for bedrooms are Pyle be nice since there’s no AC.

Loved the whole cottage and location. It is great to have a garage and not to have to worry about parking. Our only suggestion would be to have at least a basic sky package for the tv. Will visit again.

Island retreat is a beautiful house, with three good sized bedroom and high quality fittings throughout. It is only 2 minutes from 3 different beaches and 5 minuted from the town and all its amenities. I really can’t fault the house, it was perfect for our holiday. Many thanks! David

Found the appartment very easily thanks to great instructions. Entry etc very simple. Very well presented accomodation in excellent ocation with garage attached. Couldn't have expected anything beter for the price. Excellent location, right next to the beaches and town centre. Brilliant

We've had a really fantastic holiday, the best we've had in the UK! New to St Ives, we weren't really sure what to expect from the town or location of the house, but we couldn't fault either! The house is gorgeous, the best location, just metres away from 2 of best beaches we've been to in the UK. The house is gorgeous inside, lovely quality furnishing and decoration and brilliantly equipped. Although we were very close to the town, we were far enough away to not be bothered by the crowds whilst we were in our accommodation. We ate out a few times and would recommend people either prebook or book ahead as most restaurants have been full all week. Porthmeor cafe in particular was fantastic! We tried the self drive boats, kayaking, body boarding, kite flying, rock pooling and shopping! And would recommend it all. We don't usually revisit the same place twice as there are too many interesting places to visit but we'll be hard pressed to find better so I'm hoping to convince husband that we need to book again for next year (if I don't persuade him to relocate first!)

Had a really great week staying in this property. the location was excellent for the beaches and for the town, all within walking distance. The facilities of the property were great, and all that a family of 4 could require, and the overall service from Sam and her team were top notch. As regular visitors to St Ives we would definately look to stay in this property and use Orange Roofs again

We booked Island Retreat for a week stay for the September Festival, it is a few years since i have stayed in Saint Ives and in the past we had used other local letting agents. I am so pleased we found Orange Roofs, the service we received was a total refreshing change. Full detailed instructions from Sam and the team for arrival and departure plus handy tips for our stay, restaurants and bars etc. Island retreat is located on Rockcliffe Court and is stunning, the location is brilliant, we did not touch the car for a whole week, You are literally on what is called the Island, walk a few steps with your mug of tea in the morning and just simply gaze out to sea and watch the world and sea go by. Island retreat is spotlessly clean, very well equipped and very comfortable and cosy. I honestly have never stayed in such a fantastic self catering apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return, however i am tempted to look at the the other properties on the orange roofs website as they simply are a class above the competition. All in all fantastic holiday, simply the best location, we loved strolling back down the little streets after a superb meal and full of rum or gin or brandy or local ciders and beers, yes we tried them all. People would not believe we spent a full afternoon in the sea on porthgwidden beach just metres from Island Retreat in late September with a beautiful Seal playing in the cove just feet from us. stunning Orange Roofs Thank You, for being different from the rest and having the best properties in Saint Ives and most of all caring for our stay, We will back for another experience.

Absolutely excellent in all respects. Orange Roofs were so lovely to deal with. The accommodation was first class, and just right for entertaining the family and friends we invited to a small party for my 60th birthday. Sam suggested we use 'Sandy Toes' for providing our party food, which was a fantastic idea - food from local suppliers delivered to our door. And of course the location couldn't be better. All in all one of the best short holidays I've had in this country. Thank you so much Orange Roofs and Sandy Toes.

Lovely place to stay, very clean & tidy. We thought the duvets could be wider as they just fit the bed. So close to the Island for walking our dog. I drive a Mondeo and this fitted into the garage snuggly. This is also a bonus as it cuts out parking charges. Kitchen well appointed with plenty of crockery. We have been to St. Ives very often and Island retreat is one of the best places we've stayed at.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago...thou originally I first stayed at Rockcliffe Court in 1976...wow what a difference it was just two flats then so was really nice to see how it's changed... 5 stars don't do it justice Orange a Roofs were and are excellent in fact we've just booked another cottage for next year...would most definitely recommend

We have just returned from a perfect week in Island Retreat. Last year we stayed in the apartment above ; Chapel Watch, but were enticed by the garage parking to book Island Retreat and very pleased we were too. Everything was PERFECT and the lovely welcome hamper was a very nice touch. We will be back again next year. Thankyou to Sam and Ross for your exemplary service.
