5 Bethesda Hill is a wonderful dog-friendly holiday cottage in the desirable and much-sought-after Downalong area. Its location means St Ives Harbour Beach is just 30 seconds from the front door and Porthmeor Beach is less than a 2-minute walk from the cottage. It’s so quintessentially St Ives being on a cobbled pedestrian-only lane and within a stone’s throw of the water’s edge. Just metres from the front door is The Wharf which hugs the beach and harbour front where boats are moored with the tide in or a huge expanse of the beach when the tide is out. Along the Wharf are a handful of galleries, cocktail and tapas bars and the Cintra Seafood Bar. Smeaton’s Pier is very close by as is Fore Street which is lined with independent shops, beautiful galleries, coffee shops and delicious delis! The path past the house is a quiet one where footfall is at a minimum so book 5 Bethesda Hill and you will be in the very heart of St Ives where everything is super accessible yet in a peaceful pocket where your sleep and privacy are key. This charming St Ives cottage is dog-friendly but they do need to be pocket-sized! The owners are happy for guests to bring along their dog if it is a small breed (10kg or under), has its own bed and is exceptionally well-mannered and behaved. 5 Bethesda Hill is suitable for couples searching for a romantic holiday cottage in St Ives or for a small family needing to be close to all amenities and beaches. From May 1st 2024, 5 Bethesda Hill will have one allocated parking space for guests at St Ives Rugby Club which is a 20-minute walk from the cottage but shuttle buses run between the car park and Porthmeor Beach frequently between Easter and October.
This beautiful cottage has so many characterful features where the owners have retained its coastal holiday cottage beauty as well as offering a warm welcome and plenty of comfort for your holiday. It's not a modern white box with super slick fixtures and features, it has an authentic St Ives holiday cottage feel where you will feel immersed in the St Ives life. Walk into the slate-floored kitchen off the cobbled pedestrian lane outside with open shelving on the wall and a hand-crafted wooden kitchen and cement worktop. It comes with an under-counter fridge with a freezer compartment, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob and microwave. Fancy a cuppa? Take your time and pop the Le Creuset kettle on the gas hob while taking a seat at the dining table with two benches that seat 4 people. The AEG washing machine is in an understairs cupboard in the kitchen. On this floor, there is a bathroom with a smaller size tub (but perfect for little people!) with a rain shower head over. Look up when in this bathroom and enjoy the sunlight flooding through the stained glass window. On the opposite wall is a feature wooden wall which offers a warm tone to the bathroom. The warm feeling will also be offered by the very large towel radiator. There is also a large wash basin and WC in this ground-floor bathroom.
Head up to the first floor via the wooden staircase to the living room with its large sofa wrapping the room up in a great big embrace. There is plenty of room to stretch out and relax while reading or watching the Smart TV with Apps so you can log in to watch your favourite programmes. There is an Alexa Bluetooth speaker to play your own music through plus a small selection of games like Scrabble and Guess Who? Another flight of wooden stairs takes you to the bedrooms and the second bathroom. As you reach the landing, being a typical St Ives cottage where nothing is perfectly straight or even, there are a few steps down into the bathroom that has a large walk-in shower, WC, towel radiator and wash basin. From that same landing, a few steps down takes you into the second bedroom that has a small double bunk bed. The bottom bed is a 4ft small double and the top bunk is a 3ft single. There is a chest of drawers and wooden pegs for hanging clothes. The master bedroom is at the front of the cottage with a beautiful loft ceiling with wooden rafters and Velux windows allowing light to stream in (when you want it!). There is a built-in wardrobe, bedside tables, a window seat, chest of drawers and a king-size bed.
To recap, 5 Bethesda Hill is a dog-friendly holiday cottage in St Ives. It is in the very heart of this coastal town. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a ground-floor kitchen and a first-floor living room. The bedrooms and one of the bathrooms are on the second floor. There is also a ground floor bathroom with WC. There are stairs leading up to and throughout the cottage so not suitable for guests unable to tackle stairs. This cottage is perfect for couples wanting to be within moments of St Ives beaches, shops, coffee and cocktail bars, restaurants and galleries yet want a peaceful cottage location. It's also perfect for small families who want to use a cottage as a fabulous beach base. Towels and bed linen are provided but please bring your own beach towels. One dog is allowed to stay at this cottage but it must be 10kg or less and have impeccable manners. From May 1st 2024, guests enjoy the use of one allocated parking space at St Ives Rugby Club which is a 20-minute walk from the cottage. Please note, shuttle buses run between the car park and Porthmeor Beach frequently between Easter and October.
Important notice, the sofa has feather-filled sofa seats so not suitable for guests with a severe feather allergy.

Beautifully appointed small house. Tastefully furnished with interesting art work. Lovely to have two bathrooms. Excellent location close to the harbour and beaches. It was very comfortable for the two of us but I can imagine returning with our grown up daughter and the space working well for the 3 of us too.

Absolutely gorgeous holiday home to stay in. We could not fault it. Perfect location. Perfectly kitted out and the loveliest owners (we recieved an anniversary card and gift on arrival, much to our surprise and delight). We arrived whilst the cleaners were finishing up and they were so helpful and friendly. Our children were delighted to get into the property and have a look around, they particularly enjoyed the bird memory game, so much so we have bought it ourselves for our son's birthday. The beds for the children we beyond perfect and so comfortable, after a day out at the beach they were both out like lights once snuggled in. The master bedroom too was incredible, such a comfortable bed, wish I could have brought it home with me! I honestly wouldn't hesitate to book it again and would recommend to everyone I know. OrangeRoofs were so so helpful and on hand with any questions we had prior to and during our holiday. Really couldn't have been any better!

Great location. Bathrooms and bedrooms are lovely, kitchen is a bit pokey and dingy and living space on second floor not ideal when you want to be together as a group around meal times. Orange roofs were as good as ever and would book again with them but probably not this house. Probably better for families with older children. **Management Comments: Thank you so much for your lovely review of 5 Bethesda and we are sorry this wasn't the house for you. We hope to welcome you back at another of our properties soon! Dear future guests, please note this house has a layout of the kitchen on the ground floor and living room on the second floor. We would recommend using the property floor plan to help when booking to avoid disappointment.**

We had a fabulous stay at 5 Bethesda Hill, St Ives. We chose this property for location and character and were not disappointed. Within a couple of minutes walk you can explore all that St Ives has to offer. We also enjoyed catching up with our family and friends who are locals! The property has been equipped to a high standard throughout, clean and tastefully furnished.. We would definitely recommend it. The staff from Orange Roofs were excellent and always available should you need anything. Thank you for a great stay.

This cottage is one of our favourites
in St Ives but this is the first time we stayed at Christmas.
Lovely features, great location in town and everything you need for
a week's stay.
A lovely place to spend Christmas away from home for a
change.
Definitely come back again.
Orange roof team provided very good communications along the
way.

Nice little cottage in a great location. Everything was
spotlessly clean, and the thoughtful touches, such as the coffee,
tea and milk, added a personal touch to our
stay.
We would definitely stay there again.

We loved this house! Really nicely decorated and clean, with everything we needed there. It's in a great location (perfect for taking your morning cup of tea down to the beach!) and feels really homely. For a family, it's a real bonus having 2 lovely bathrooms too. We can't wait to go back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bethesda Hill. A lovely cottage with just about enough space for our family of 4. Comfortable furnishings, fluffy towels, quality bedding. Brilliant location just off the harbour with lots of opportunities for exploring different beaches, and easy access to chips and ice cream for the kids!
